Charles's POV

Six months later...

"You seem stressed," I say to Elizabeth Grace as she places her face in her palms. "What's the matter?"

"Congressmen," she replies. "Angry congressmen."

"Explain."

"They're afraid of us. That much is obvious. It's taken months for me to gain any form of respect."

"And why's that?"

"To them, I'm just a little mutant girl. Less than a quarter of the committee was actually interested in any of my evidence or points."

"They clearly don't know you."

"They will never care to. I'm not Professor Charles Xavier. That's all they'll ever see."

"You're Dr. Elizabeth Grace Xavier—technically, Professor Elizabeth Grace Xavier. Don't forget that. You're my daughter, but you're so much more than just that. I'm sure Alex has reminded you of this an innumerable number of times."

"I... Dad, I still don't know how to present our case. They might listen to you, but me... based on what I've seen, I barely have a chance."

"How many academic papers have you written on the mutant x gene? How many academic awards have you won due to your research with Hank and myself? How many of these children look at you as a hero due to your actions in Washington D.C.?"

She smiles, clearly taking in my words. I know that Elizabeth Grace has never desired to be a part of the world of politics. In fact, she hates it. Her desire would be to be here with the children teaching or researching genetics in a laboratory without ever stepping foot into any sort of political atmosphere. She has always told me that I'm the better politician. However, after the number of attacks on mutants she's seen, she couldn't just stand by.
