Elizabeth's POV

Three Weeks Later...

Typically when I end up going to find mutants, I'm on the other side of the country. This one, however, is essentially in our backyard. Well, at the very least, he's still in the state of New York.

The residents of the area have reported several homeless individuals who they describe as being "a bit different." Hair colors and odd markings give some of them away. Many of these individuals are only children—young mutants who have run away or been forced out of their homes because of how they were born.

I haven't been able to locate any of these mutants just yet. Of course, I've mostly been laying some of the groundwork to learn who these mutants are. Knowing who they are will give me an idea of what I'm walking into. Some mutants are accepting of others like themselves—wanting to be found. Others have been very hostile—causing some situations in which I found myself fighting for my life. My hope is that this is an example of the former.

"Dr. Xavier," someone says behind me. I turn to see the store owner I had interviewed is trying to obtain my attention. "There's someone on my landline asking to speak with you."

Dad must've found me through Cerebro. He mentioned that someone would be coming to assist me during this, which is fairly unusual. Most of the time this situation would be handled by one person unless a bigger issue was indicated. It's quite possible that this is my backup on the other end of the phone.
