It's been a week since the Nursing Licensure Exams.
*knock*knock*knock*
"Dad?"
Gerald peeked in his dad's office.
"Oh, how's my new RN?"
John answered his son.
“RN po agad? Hehehe… Hindi pa nga po sigurado kung papasa eh.”
“Anak, mataas ang confidence ko kay God, hindi na tatanong kung papasa ka. Ang tanong mag ta-top ba o hindi?”
Gerald slightly smiled hiding the uneasiness.
Tingin pa lang alam na ni John ang sadya ng anak niya.
Hihingi ito ng payo.
"Let me guess. You need advice, don't you?"
Huminga ng malalim ang binata.
Tumingin ito sa mga mata ng ama at ngumiti.
"I've been praying, dad. Sabi ko unless she is ready to hear me say 'I love you' that's my go signal from Him. Last week sinabi ko na sa kanya. She seemed fine with it."
Gerald narrated to his father.
"Fine as in she said I love you too?"
his father bluntly asked.
"No, but she smiled and said 'I love you' ba daw agad hindi ba daw pwede magpaligaw."
John chuckled at the cheesy story his son is telling him.
"Is that a bad sign?"
kabadong tanong ni Gerald.
"So what do you think, dad?"
"Eh di ligawan mo na. But hey, Gerald Randolph, be a gentleman, do it the right way."
"That's exactly why I'm here po. Pano ba ang tamang paraan?"
"Remember my message during weddings? Husband love your wives like Christ loves His church? Well then, pursue her the way Jesus pursued us."
Napaisip si Gerald.
Napangiti siya maya-maya.
"I get it. You want me to be patient."
"Yes, son. When you love, you must love like our God and in a relationship, there has to be a third party and that is still God.”
Tumango-tango si Gerald.
“So… Paano nga po ako manliligaw?”
“Whatever you kids do these days…”
John sniggered.
“But dad, parang gusto ko yung makalumang style eh, Sarah deserves that.”
His dad smiled and answered
“Wait mo ko dito. Kukuha ako ng props sa room namin ng mom mo.”
“Okay, thanks a lot, dad.”
And as his dad left the office, he rested his head on the chair.
