The Babysitter

She's Awake

Lime's PoV:

"SHE'S AWAKE!" Coal screamed, flying through the hallways and right past me, unable to stop.

"Woah-" Black muttered, just as surprised as I was. He stood up as he watched his son sliding across the floor, and it was only then that I realised that his hand had previously been holding mine.

I didn't think too much of it, as there was a much more important matter at the moment.

"What happened, Coal?" Lapis asks, racing over to Coal who was now finally stopped and catching his breath.

"S-Scarlet" he gasped, "woke up"

"I wish my mommy woke up" Snow quietly murmurs under his breath.

"She's not dead!" Chocolate happily exclaimed, hugging the nearest person to him, who just happened to be Rose.

"That's great..." Rose agrees whilst untangling herself from the younger child's arms before pushing him away slightly. Chocolate didn't seem to care, instead just began leaping up and down in excitement.

"Can we go see her?" Peach asks, and Emerald nods enthusiastically.

"Not all at the same time" Black laughs, "I'll just go and check on her first."

After only just having caught his breath, Coal slips into the nearest vent, presumably heading back to medbay. Black goes the normal 'crewmate' route.

"Can we go, can we go?" Indigo begs, pulling her sister along with one hand and tugging my sleeve with the other.

I begin nodding, but remind them that they may still have to wait.

"Hey... where's Teal?" Lemon points out

"She... sh-she uh... went to... uh... with... yeah she's in a room umm.... b-bedroom?" I lie terribly. Luckily, I believe they bought it. Phew.

Scarlet's PoV:

As promised, a few minutes later, Coal popped out of the vent and appeared next to me, grinning wide.
Not long after, his father walked in the door.
"How are you doing?" He asks, quickly checking the various monitors.

"I'm... I'm good" I say, smiling. "When can we go home?"

"You're eager" Black laughs. "If you're better, then we can go straight back"

"I am better, completely better!" I insisted.

"Are you sure?" Coal worriedly asks, and I nodded enthusiastically.

"The others are worried about you" his dad says, "would you like some of them to come in and talk to you?"

"Yes! Please can I talk to Teal?"

"Um..." he says, a conflicted look flashing across his face. "Sorry... but we think it's best that you stay apart for just a little bit"

"Oh" I mumble, trying to hide my disappointment. Although I do understand why Black would be worried... I still want to see her. She's probably just scared...

"What?!" Coal asks after his dad walked out of the room. "You want to see her again?"

"Well... yeah" I murmur, "you believe in second chances, right?"

"I guess...." he sighs, but I'm pretty sure he just said it to agree with me. He used to easily trust people, and always saw the best in everyone. I get why he's changed, but I also hope he'll remember how to forgive again... otherwise he'll just be as bad as Blue.
