The ambulance showed up pretty quickly but Abbie was out, wether the pain had taken its toll, or wether she had bled out a little too much, she was gone for now at least. Brett and Mackey rushed into the room, "we've got her, Mackey start an IV" they crouched down on the floor next to Abbie and jay as Brett spat out orders. She evaluated her injuries, "looks like a pneumothorax, it could be more serious but we won't know till we get her to med" Brett helped Mackey slide the backboard underneath abbies limp body. The team all nodded, "Sarge you go with her, I'll meet you there" jay stood up. Hank shook his head, "no no, you go with her" he nodded sincerely. Jay looked at him in confusion for a few seconds, "just go" hank nodded. Jay smiled thankfully and followed the medics out where he got into the back of the ambo and lead the trail of police cars to med.
Jay was beyond worried, Mackey was doing all sorts to try and help Abbie in the back of the ambo and at one point it looked like she was awake but it was just the drugs kicking into her system, "is she gonna be okay?" He looked over to Mackey. Gianna smiled sadly, "I don't know Jay, she's strong, but I can't promise you anything. Not while she's in this condition..." she shook her head slightly. Jays heart shattered, he can't lose her, not Abbie, not today, not ever, he just can't...
It felt like a whole life time but they finally arrived to med in a rush, Mackey nearly lost Abbie once since she flat lined but she managed to get her back, however none of this was looking good for Abbie and if they didn't do something soon she was at high risk of being put into a permanent coma. She was rushed into the ED as Will took over, "Abbie...Jay what happened?" He looked down at the pale detective in worry. Jay had tears brimming his eyes, "kidnapping..." he shook his head. Will nodded, "we're gonna do all we can, sit tight" he patted his brothers arm then went on to treating his friend and brother's girlfriend. Jay was guided back to the waiting room, "how is she? Is she inside?" Hank came running over, his nerves becoming more evident.
Jay had to sit down, his legs were ready to buckle out, "she's being treated now..." he bit back on his words carefully but hank could see he was holding down on information they needed to hear, "jay just tell us, whatever it is we need to know" he sat down next to his most elite detective. Jay rubbed his head with his hands and sighed, "Mackey said, she couldn't promise me an answer yet but she said if she stayed in this condition any longer she wouldn't be okay. Then she flat lined and I..." he shook his head and let a tear fall. Hank bit his bottom lip nervously, "hey, she's strong. She's gonna be okay..." he nodded as the team stood there in shock, but he was trying to convince himself more so than anyone else.
The next few hours were painful, not only for the staff in the ED who knew Abbie personally, but for the unit since they hadn't heard about how she was doing. That was until this very second, "will" jay jumped up tiredly which triggered the rest of the team to follow suit, hank right by his side. Will sighed, "she's not cleared yet but we do have a stable update on her condition" he looked around at them all as they stood in front of him in a semi circle. They all nodded for him to carry on, "so, we've managed to subdue the internal damage. She sustained an attention pneumothorax but it was left for a long time before it was treated, so there was a few complications including some fluid in her lung. Everything's been repaired, however she does have a concussion and her body is under a lot of stress. It's just a waiting game now until she wakes up unfortunately..." he trailed off at the end once reading their devastated expressions.
The team had no clue how to react, was he telling them that she was going to be okay but not yet? Or is she not going to be okay at all? "Is she in critical condition?" Hank bit his lip nervously. Will rubbed his hand over his mouth and nodded sadly, "yeah...it's not looking too good for the time being but we have hope. She's healthy and strong so her immune system should fight for herself, get her back to normality at least" he frowned. Jay couldn't hear anymore so he walked off into the direction of the bathroom and once he was out of view from the unit he slid down the wall and cried into his hands. The team just watched him in sadness, hank knew that he and Abbie still had a thing but it was evident now that they need each other so he should just let them be. But that wasn't his main priority right now, Abbie was...
