fluff & angst ━ ' , dream away , ' ━ aether x venti (3/3)

(A/N: Modern AU. Part 3 of 3. This is a super long chapter because I thought 3 parts would be enough.)

Third Person's POV

"So, would you mind telling me why you suddenly cried?" The person asks Aether, who was looking extremely ashamed and embarrassed of himself for suddenly doing that. It was a horrible first impression after all but, I guess that was one way of making someone talk to you.

"O-oh right, I haven't introduced myself..! I-I'm Aether!" Aether says, purposely avoiding the topic while reaching his hand out for a hand shake. The person who asked notices his intentions but, since someone introduced themselves to him, naturally he should too. He sighs.

"I'm Venti! Nice to meet you!" He smiles brightly as he shakes Aether's hand.

"Now, let's get back to the topic at hand~." Venti says laying his arm up on the table, crossing his fingers and laying his chin on them, eager and kind of curious as to why someone would suddenly cry in meeting him for the first time. 

"I-I just had a bad dream, that's all..!" Aether says, a little worried that he might press on into the topic. He can't just outright say that he died in his dream, right? That would be more unusual than crying in front of him. Not only would it be unusual, it would also be creepy and scary. Venti raises his eyebrow in curiosity, but seeing Aether looking a little anxious, he decides to not continue the conversation.

"I see... Well, we all have nightmares once in a while, right?" Venti says, sighing, a little upset to not have gotten the full details but, it's wrong to force someone to say something they don't want to say, which is why he held back for now.

"Mhm." Aether answers, but Venti notices that his facial expression suddenly turned into a depressed one. He wonders if that wasn't the right thing to say in this moment. Not only did he make him cry, he also made him even sadder. Well, he didn't actually but, it's what he felt with the tension in the air. 

"Do you want me to walk you home?" Venti offers, standing up from his seat. 

"N-no! It's okay..!" Aether answers, a little surprised with the sudden question as he stood up as well. 

"Are you sure..?" Venti asks, a little worried about Aether's health. But Aether just nods in reply.
