"Alright, let's get out of here." The girl says, motioning towards the door. "Come on!"

The group of us run behind her as she takes a sharp right and leads us up a flight of stairs to a window on the second floor, where Jorge is waiting for us, a rucksack slung across his shoulder. As we reach him, I can hear the faint tune of a song echoing through the warehouse through the speakers.

"There you are! We've got to get out of here, hermanos!" He exclaims, pushing open the window to reveal a zip line connecting us to the next door building of the facility, hanging over a very high drop onto the concrete floor below.

"You've got to be joking." Frypan sighs, his mouth gaping open at the sight.

"I'll take you kids to the Right Arm, but you've got to help me and Brenda in return." Jorge says, yanking down a band of rope that hangs from the wire of the zip line. "Let's go!" He wraps the rope around his wrists several times before leaping off the edge of the building and sailing through the air across the zip line, before tumbling through the next door building's window.

"Ok, Teresa you're next!" Thomas says, pulling down another rope and wrapping it around the girl's wrists. "You ready?"

Teresa gulps as she nods frantically, and Thomas gives a quick smile before giving her a little push off the side.

"Ok, Y/N, your turn." The brunette boy instructs just as Teresa flies through the window to join Jorge.

I peer down over the edge, and my heart drops at how far the fall to the ground is.

This zip line better be secure.

I grab hold of the rope, wrapping it around my wrists as tight and secure as I can.

"I'm right behind you." Newt says just as I step off the edge. My stomach leaps up into my throat as I whiz through the air, my eyes squeezed shut as I try to avoid looking down.

I can feel the joints in my fingers start to burn as they grip tighter onto the rope, but luckily I soon make it through the window where the others are waiting, tumbling onto the concrete floor.

"Are you alright?" Teresa asks, pulling me onto my feet.

"Yeah, I'm good." I reply, rubbing my trousers down slightly just as Minho and Newt fly through the window behind me.

"Where's everyone else?" Teresa asks worriedly.

"They all went with Brenda. She said she needed to get something." Minho replies.

"Ok, we've got to go. The song's almost over." Jorge interrupts, looking down at his wristwatch.

My eyes widen. "What? No! What about the others?"

"There's no time to wait for them. Brenda will take them through the underground passage out of here. Now come on!"

"Y/N, they'll be fine." Newt says reassuringly, gently grasping my arm. "We just need to-"

But the boy is cut off by the booming sound of an explosion, shaking the floor so violently that it causes me to loose my balance and stumble into Newt.

"What the hell was that?" Teresa shouts.

"The song's over! Now we really need to get out of here!" Jorge shouts back.

He leads us down two flights of stairs as the warehouse still shakes from the aftermath of the violent explosion, and leads us out into the desert.

"We're going to find Marcus." He explains as we slow to a jog, following along a dusty pathway as we leave the crumbling remains of the warehouse behind us.

"Who's Marcus?" Newt asks the man.

"He's an old friend of mine. He helps smuggle kids into the Safe Haven." Jorge replies.

My brows furrow at the unfamiliar name. "What's the Safe Haven."

"It's like paradise, hermana." Jorge says, sighing slightly at the thought of it. "Free from WICKED and the Flare. But he only takes immunes there, hence why Brenda and I aren't there right now, and we kind of... drifted apart. I've heard some weird stuff about him over the past year- I think he's gone off the rails. However, Brenda doesn't know that, so I know for a fact that she's taken Thomas and all the others to his party in an attempt to find him."

"His party?" Teresa questions, redoing her dark hair into a messy bun which hangs at the bottom of her head.

"He hosts a party for people who have the Flare, hermana." Jorge explains, "it's like their last hurrah before they fully turn. And here we are now."

Our group turns a corner onto a dusty street, littered with people sitting out on the pavement. Their skin is a sickly white colour, and their bloodshot eyes stare right into my soul as we walk along the street, causing the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up.

"Ok, you need to split up. Minho and Teresa together, and Y/N and Newt. I'm going to go find Marcus, wherever the hell he is." Jorge whispers as we approach a large building at the end of the street. People wearing extravagant outfits flood from inside the building, and I can hear the thudding of music echo throughout the street.

"And just remember," the man continues. "Try and blend in, alright? And meet me on the roof of the building when you find them."

"Good that." Minho nods, puffing out his chest slightly as the man gives us one last look before striding off into the city.

"Alright, let's do this." Teresa says, shaking her shoulders slightly as we walk up to the door of the party building.

I can feel the heat radiating off the bodies inside from out here as Newt gently grasps my hand. I turn to him and give him a reassuring nod, which he returns.

"You ready?" He asks me, his eyes shifting to the party inside.

I gulp and straighten my posture a little bit, trying to seem as confident as possible in this strange environment.

"I'm ready."
