The cart jolts slightly as it lands back on the ground next to our camp, far far away from the WICKED train and the soldiers. Thomas unhooks the rope from the cart and gives Brenda the thumbs up, signalling that they can go land the Berg on the other side of the camp.

The sun begins to disappear over the horizon, causing the sky to turn a lovely pinkish-orange colour as I jump down from the roof of the container just as Vince swings open the door.

I quickly follow Thomas as he steps inside the container, meeting the exhausted, sunken eyes of the teenagers inside, chained up in rows of three. My stomach turns at the thought of what horrific events these poor kids have endured throughout the past six months. Or maybe longer.

Thomas makes his way to the back of the cart, keeping his eyes peeled for Minho, and I begin to follow him, but two individuals catch my eye from the third row.

Aris and Sonya.

"Oh my god!" I exclaim, rushing to the pair. I can barely recognise them- Aris has a black eye and a long scar down his cheek, and Sonya's matted blond hair is pulled into a pathetic side plait, her pale, worn in face lighting up slightly at the sight of me.

"I'm so happy you're safe." I whisper, pulling the two of them into a tight embrace, which they return very weakly.

"Where's everyone else?" Sonya says as I pull away, her face falling. "Are they alright? Is anyone dead?"

"They're all completely fine." I smile, cupping my hands around the girl's bashed-up face. "Gzi, Renee, Nat and Harriet are all in the Berg right now. But they'll come see you guys as soon as possible."

Sonya's face relaxes with relief as she smiles weakly at me.

"I can't believe it..." I hear Thomas murmur. I look up and see him staring at Newt, a somber expression clouding his face.

My smile instantly fades as I remove my hands from Sonya's face.

"What's happened?" I ask.

Newt turns around to face me, and the expression on his face makes my heart sink.

"Minho." He chokes out, barely loud enough for me to hear. "He's- he's not here."

"I just don't get it." Newt murmurs once the last kid leaves the cart, going out to join the rest of them as Vince begins to tell them what's going to happen.

"I swear I heard Minho's voice in the cart." The blonde boy continues, rubbing his temple gently as we step out into the blinding sunlight.

"Maybe you misheard it." I reply, shielding my eyes slightly as I lean against the doorframe.

"No, I swear it was Minho." Newt says, leaning against the pillar opposite me. "I swear- I know Minho's voice when I hear it."

"OH MY GOD!"

Gzi's shrill voice causes the two of us to startle slightly as the blonde girl sprints across the camp right in front of me towards Aris and Sonya, who have just emerged from the storage supply room. She jumps into Sonya's arms, who looks a little taken back at first, but slowly breaks out into a smile, wrapping her arms around the girl's back as Gzi wraps her legs around Sonya's waist for balance.

"I thought you had died!" Gzi shouts, jumping down from Sonya. "Thank god you two are alive."
She turns to Aris and gives him a tight hug just as Nat, Renee and Harriet run up to join them.

I smile to myself as I watch the six of them reunite after so long apart, but my smile quickly fades when I see Newt looking over at the group, a frown tugging at his mouth.
