"This is where WICKED has Minho." Thomas says, tracing a path along the map around the city with his finger. "So if we take this route, take everything we've got, then we can go get Minho back. It will take a week tops."
"A week?!" Vince scoffs, "Thomas, it's taken us six months to get where we are now!"
"Yes, but if-"
"No buts! After the stunt we pulled with the train yesterday, we have WICKED's full attention now, we're on their radar. So now we have to be more careful than ever, and you want to wander off to a random city on the map? You don't even know what's there!"
"I do." A familiar voice calls from the doorway. I shift my eyes and see the faint outline of Jorge leaning against the frame, arms crossed. "The Last City. I was there a few years ago. It's the base of WICKED and all their operations."
He walks over to join us by the table, leaning over Thomas's shoulder to look at the map.
"If that city is still standing, hermano, then it's the last place you want to go. It's the lion's den.""It can't be worse than anything we've encountered before." Thomas replies.
"Famous last words." Jorge says quietly.
"Look, all we need is a plan-" Thomas continues, ignoring Jorge's words, but Vince cuts him off angrily.
"We're not forming a plan for a city that we aren't going to go to! Thomas, don't you understand? There is a large group of teenagers waiting out there to go to the Safe Haven like I promised them! We can't just run into this unprepared! I'm not risking the lives of those children for one man. Even if that one man is Minho."
Everyone falls silent for a moment, but the crackly voice coming from the radio breaks it. I can barely make out what's being said, but from the look on Jorge's face I can tell that it isn't good.
"It's WICKED." He says, eyes widening. "They're here!"
As if on cue, the noise of the Berg's propellers suddenly echo throughout the building, causing my heart to stop.
"Cut the lights!" Thomas orders, rushing out of the building. "Cut the lights!"
I run over to one of the electrical levers as Newt and Jorge take the others, and pull down on the handle, causing the room to turn pitch black.
I stumble over to the door, my eyes not yet adjusted to the dark, just as I feel Newt's hand grab mine as he guides me outside.
I watch as a Berg flies overhead, casting beams of lights over the camp as it flies North of us, disappearing into the horizon within seconds.
I exchange a worried glance with Thomas as the sea breeze whips at my clothes, sending goosebumps up my arms.

"Hey, mind if I join you?"I look up and see Thomas standing in the sand next to me, the pale moonlight illuminating his face.
"Of course." I smile, gesturing next to me.
The boy sits down with a sigh as he stares out at the waves crashing against the beach in front of us.
"I'm sorry about Vince." I say softly after a few moments. "I know how much you want to get Minho back."
"I'm still going to do it." Thomas replies. "I'm going tonight."
"What?" I exclaim, snapping my head around to look at the boy. "What do you mean? You're going alone?"
"Well, that's kind of why I'm here." He says. "Y/N, I want you to come with me."
I'm taken aback slightly at his request, unsure of what to say. "What? Why me? Why not Newt or Frypan or someone like that?"
"Because I know that they will a) try and talk me out of it, and b) won't agree to come." Thomas simply replies. "I was hoping you would be different. I know how much you hate WICKED for what they've done to your friends, so I was thinking that you wouldn't want Minho to suffer the same fate. I know that sounds extremely selfish of me since you barely know Minho but-"
"I'm in." I interrupt before he can finish.
"You are?" He says, clearly shocked that I've agreed to this.
"Of course. You're right, I barely know Minho, but I do know how much he means to you and your friends. The last thing I want is for you to suffer the same pain I have with Maria. If we have a chance to save Minho, I say we take it."
"This is going to be dangerous though, you know that?" Thomas say warily in case I want to change my mind.
"Hey, it can't be worse than anything we've encountered before, right?" I smirk, repeating the words he used himself only a few hours earlier.
Thomas laughs lightly and shakes his head. "Well, thank you Y/N. I didn't think you would actually agree to this. I'm thinking we leave in about two hours, when everyone's gone to bed. We'll take the car out back, bring everything we need, and we should be back within a week. Obviously, don't tell anyone. Not even Gzi or Renee or anyone like that."
"Sure." I nod. "I won't tell."
"Ok. We should better get packing then." He sighs, rising to his feet and offering me his hand, which I accept.
"Come get me when we have to leave." I say as we walk up the beach back to the camp.
"Yeah, yeah, of course." He replies. "Ok, see you in two hours." He turns on his heel and starts walking back to his section of the sleeping quarters, as I do the same, walking slowly to try and calm my racing heart.
Two hours.
Just wait two hours.
