23 Years ago today, the first ever American film adaptation of Godzilla was released to the world in 1998. The film would be rather controversial with some fans. But over the years, both the film and it's titular Kaiju have gained more appreciation from fewer and fewer fans.

My current stance on the film is that it's not really the best film, but it's still a very entertaining one at that, being able to appreciate the kaiju design, effects, some of the set pieces that were done, the soundtrack and the cinematography.

I will still say though, I do refer to this version of the character and the Zilla character as "Zilla" all together just because of how much of a headache the trademark and name controversy is. But that doesn't mean I don't add the 98 version of Zilla into things like tributes when doing stuff for Godzilla as a whole.
