Chapter Fifty Three

The aggressive clicking of your glittery white heels was all you were thinking about while you were walking around the restaurant you'd been to so many times. However, the courtyard was completely open and the decorations were all hung up. The lights were connected from one end of the perimeter to the other, the yellow and pink fairy lights twinkling among the bright but dimming sky. The seats were organized on the outside and the gazebo was adorned with color and shine. The black chairs and circle tables were set up on the inside of the hall, the entire floor cleared out to make it look like an actual venue rather than a family owned restaurant.
"Can I come in?" You heard the familiar voice at the glass door. The corner of your lips tugged up, your hair whipping behind you as you turned around to see Changkyun's face pressed against the glass, his fist gently knocking on it. You strolled over to the door, unlocking it since June had been insistent on keeping Shownu out despite the fact that she wasn't here herself. Your hand had made it to his wrist, the smooth navy blue wool tickling your fingers. You instinctively went to grab his yellow tie, straightening it out and then tugging on his white collar. He was always so disheveled.
"You look rather handsome today." You complimented nonetheless, feeling a bit more confident than you should since your heels made you taller.
He was still taller.
By an inch or two though. You could be cocky about that.
Changkyun grinned at your compliment, his arms folded at his chest with a sweet chuckle.
"Thank you, gorgeous." He said softly, taking your hand in his and pressing his lips onto the back of it, making you squirm. He spun you around, your dusty yellow dress twirling behind you. Your palms rested loosely on his shoulders and you looked around, wondering where everyone else had disappeared to. A few of the bridesmaids had moved into the restaurant to help set up more while June and Shownu got ready in the place not too far away.
"Did you walk all the way here? Your hair is a mess." You finally noticed, combing your fingers through his raven black locks to fix them. His brace brushed against your hand as he tried to stop you from adjusting his hair.
"We have stylists for a reason. She'll fix it later. Don't worry about it." Changkyun assured, bringing your hands back down to his shoulders. His eyes traveled up and down you, a small smirk finding itself onto his lips.
"Hey, lovebirds! I know you're like unhealthily into each other but save it for your own wedding!" You heard Eunhee shout from the courtyard. Changkyun glared at her and you nudged him with your elbow, shaking your head.
"You've got to stop doing that." You scolded, seriously wondering why he had such a big problem with her. Or anyone that wasn't the guys or June. And he never seemed all that close with June either.
Friends, yes. Good friends, possibly.
"It's really weird seeing you at almost eye level, Eggo." Changkyun laughed, bending down just barely to be the same height as you.
"I prefer you when you're tiny." He put his hand to just above the middle of his neck, where you normally stood, straightening himself back up.
"But I could get used to this." He whistled teasingly, throwing a wink at you. You rolled your eyes at him, turning around to hide your embarrassment.
He really knew how to make you flustered.
"You should go now. Come back before the ceremony." You shooed, noticing that all the other bridesmaids were out and working on decoration alongside the professionals.
"I can help. I have a knack for art, you know?" Changkyun bragged, flexing his arms for no exact reason.
That suit could not handle him doing that. The fabric was stretching out. It stretched out so much that you'd have to place your hand on it to get him to stop before the sleeve ripped.
"You can't lift anything with that arm." You reminded him, looking down to his brace. He shook his head, opening his mouth to refute but you shook your head at him.
"I could lift you up right here right now." He taunted anyways, his eyes going down to your legs and you could tell he was going to try. You took a step back, shaking a finger at him.
"Listen to me, okay? Keep the other guys under control and don't stress out the groom."
"Why can't I stay?" Changkyun whined, taking a step towards you but you placed your hand on his chest, pushing him back and then turning him towards the door.
"We don't trust the groomsmen. We want our nearlyweds to be able to take in the place for the first time when they walk down the aisle. You're a bit of a snitch sometimes, so leave." You grinned, pointing at the glass door for him. He looked back at you, giving you those taken aback, disappointed puppy eyes.
"You don't trust your own boyfriend?"
"Not at all. Goodbye." You smiled at the door, waving at Changkyun politely. He stomped his foot down, making you instinctively step forward to stop him from crushing his already kind of broken ankle. It was healing but at this point he was going to ruin it more.
"Babe~" He complained loudly like a child, clinging onto you and refusing to let go, causing everyone in the room to glance in your general direction. You tried to pull away but his grip was too strong.
"Kyun, let go please." You tugged, only for him to pull you back towards him.
"You're so insistent. Are you hiding a fiancé from me?" Changkyun joked but his joke slowly escalated as Eunhee made her way over, taking your hand and nodding. Changkyun eyed your hands and you just stared at Eunhee in confusion.
"We're engaged. Leave us alone." Eunhee wrapped her arms around your waist and dragged you over to decorations, and you watched as Changkyun's eyebrows furrowed. You shrugged and waved at him, blowing a quick kiss as the cherry on top. He pouted before letting out a dramatic sigh. Changkyun muttered something to himself while you continued to get dragged away by Eunhee, throwing a fake sad heart at you before walking out the door, waving through the glass.
You seriously wondered how he doesn't get recognized. You didn't know if people were stupid or if they were too scared to say or do anything.
"Your little boy toy is rather possessive. It's annoying to watch but kind of cute." Eunhee scoffed, going back to folding napkins at one of the tables. The long white table cloths were decorated with beautiful pale yellow and pink flower arrangements that were laid in the center of each of the tables. There weren't too many guests so there was probably only around five tables with twelve chairs around. The plates were white and the cutlery was silver with small pink and yellow ribbons wrapped around them.
There were flower garlands hanging from the ceiling and a pink carpet going out into the courtyard that was partially closed off to make it seem as if there were two venues.
You'd only been to the small restaurant a few times but the natural light that was shining in made the place look extra magical. You hadn't been to a wedding in a while. The guests would be here in a few minutes, everyone was just adding a few last minute touches.
"Aimée, there you are!" You heard Eunhee exclaim, making you turn around to see the blonde you'd gotten to know over the last few days. Aimée and June went to culinary school together and she's a French native. Her parents were Korean though.
"How's our bride?" Eunhee asked Aimée, who was fiddling around with the ends of her long slightly curled hair.
You had to look up at her just to meet her eyes. She was as tall as you were with the heels on when she wore flats.
"She's anxious. Very anxious. But she looks stunning. I was shocked honestly. I never thought Kim June could get prettier." She laughed, fixing the set up of the flowers before running over to Emi and helping her with another table.
"Do you want to go check on June for me, Y/N?" Eunhee offered, looking up from her organization.
"I'd go do it myself but Minhyuk will be here soon and we have to do coordinator stuff." She sighed, seeming pretty disappointed that she couldn't see June. So far Aimée was the only one that had seen her in the full hair, outfit, makeup set up. You were going crazy just imaging it.
"I don't want you to walk there alone but I see your boy toy has been standing outside for the last fifteen minutes."
You looked outside and low and behold, Changkyun was standing with a bucket hat on his head and a pair of sunglasses in hand.
"I'll go with him I guess." You sighed to Eunhee and she waved you off before you went as fast as you could in your very massive heels, glaring at him as soon as you made it out the door.
"Why on earth are you just standing outside in broad daylight?" You seethed, not questioning it when he slipped the sunglasses onto your eyes and dipped your head down. You felt his hand brush against yours and then pull back, huffing.
"They called me and said that they didn't need me so I stood by the door until you noticed." Changkyun responded quietly, taking a step to the side.
"How's press doing about the news?" You asked, staring at the hand that he'd put into his pocket.
"I don't think anyone is surprised at the fact that he wasn't single. They were more surprised that we're saying it less than an hour before the ceremony." He responded, looking at his phone that he was holding in his other hand, seeming to be scrolling through Twitter.
"There's a lot of negative comments though. I hope they don't let either of them read any. Mr. Groom is already pacing like a mad man." Changkyun chortled, sparing you a quick glance.
He looked around the busy sidewalk, eyeing the place that they had rented out that wasn't too far away from the restaurant. His fingers wrapped around your bare arm, causing you to jump slightly but you relaxed soon after. Changkyun dragged you quickly down the sidewalk, pulling you close as you crossed the street and walking down even more.
"What are you going to do if someone notices the Im Changkyun running down the city while clutching onto a girl?" You say through your gritted teeth, wishing you'd taken someone's car and driven even if it was a five minute walk.
"Then I guess we're going to have to say we're getting married too." He responded without question, pushing the door and practically throwing the hat to the ground. You took off the sunglasses, hiding your blush. Changkyun stole the glasses back from you, putting them into his suit pocket.
Men and the privilege of pockets. They don't deserve it.
"Groom is to the left and Bride is to the right." Changkyun pointed in both directions of the room. It was separated into two hallways. He began going left and you panicked, reaching for his hand. He turned back in confusion, humming in question.
"Come with me?" You requested, hearing the sound of heels from the right. Changkyun hesitated, looking towards the voices that were coming from the left, cocking his head to the side in reluctance before slipping his arm around your shoulders.
"Let's go." He said softly into your ear, his thumb rubbing along your shoulder blade. You cracked a small smile, heading down the white hallway. When you reached the closed door at the end of it, you knocked cautiously, wondering why it had gone completely silent.
"June? Are you in there?" You asked slowly, leaning your ear to the door, Changkyun folllwing suit beside you.
"Yeah. Come in." You heard her squeak out rather quietly. You looked to Changkyun, who simply shrugged, slipping his arm off and letting you go in on your own. You twisted the metal door knob, opening it to see even more blinding light.
"Oh my god." You slapped your hand over your mouth as you stared at the woman in front of you.
The white gown she was flowers embroidered up the side of it in a champagne colored thread, while the skirt of the dress was silky and flowing, a long trail of pure white following her in the back. The gentle off the shoulder was an a line cut, a small frill hanging off of it. Her normally short copper hair was tied half up in a braided bun, her bangs parted down the middle which you hadn't seen very often. Her floral veil rested atop her head, a small tiara with yellow flowers weaved through it as an extra touch. Her awkward smile was glittering as much as the dress itself as she tried to make her way over to you.
"Who are you?" You squealed, jumping up and down in your heels as you ran around her massive dress, trying to take in her beauty.
June's eyes were shimmering through the shine of the windows, her smile big but anxious.
"You look so gorgeous right now, June. I think Shownu might pass out when he sees you." You gasped, feeling yourself examine every inch of her. She looked amazing.
Changkyun stayed silent, obviously not knowing what to say to her but nodding in agreement. You couldn't help but laugh to yourself at that.
"Thank you, but am I supposed to feel this scared?" June's voice trembled, letting the stylists that you hadn't noticed adjust everything on her.
"It's normal." You assured, not wanting to touch her shoulder because of her dress. You'd probably find a way to rip part of it.
"Weddings are a big thing. Just take a deep breath and remember that you guys are the best couple in the world."
"Eggo." You heard Changkyun whisper from beside you and you gently stepped on his not injured foot.
He got the message.
"Yeah, but what if I accidentally say like 'I don't'? What am I going to do then?" She panicked, her voice getting jittery and her hands becoming restless at her side.
"June, you're overthinking." You soothed, noticing that the guys were leaving from the other door, so you kicked the door close so that they couldn't see in.
"I'm scared." She admitted and you could see a new emotion that you couldn't quite place in her eyes. It was a mix of fear, excitement, and a lot of worry. You were seeing a bunch of emotions in her gaze and you couldn't understand it.
You took June's left hand, pulling all her fingers down except her ring finger. You pointed at it, raising an eyebrow at the frantic bride.
"You guys have made it this far. Just think about him and you'll be okay." You assured, giving her the most comforting smile you could muster up. You could see her ease up visibly, her hand resting on top of yours for a few moments.
"Thanks. I needed that."
There was a knock at the door.
It flung open without anyone answering it.
"Shownu just left. June, you can head down to the venue now. You look really good." Wonho sang out, throwing a couple dozen thumbs up at the copper head. Wonho took a step in, teasingly squeezing himself in between you and Changkyun. Wonho laughed to himself, offering his arm out for you.
"Shall we head down together partner? Not to mention we're also a bit late." He suggested, gesturing for you both to interlock arms. You didn't think much of it, going to do as he seemed to want until Changkyun swooped in, looping his arm through the blonde's and roughly tugging forward, making him stumble.
"Head down with me instead." He mumbled, violently dragging Wonho out of the room and into the white hallway.
"Your boyfriend is strangely protective." June finally laughed, watching Wonho stumble while Changkyun annoyingly pulled him as far away as he could.
"It's okay. Shownu was kind of like that too." June added, shuffling as accurately as she could while the train on her dress was held up. You followed at her side.
"He was always so jealous of Dongwon. He'd come back to mine and Eunhee's place in complete silence, practically hanging onto me." June's eyes sparkled, finally gaining some pep in her step as she headed out into the limo that was in front of.
"He was such a cute little munchkin. I mean he still is but you should've seen him back then. We couldn't spend too much time together but he made everything count." June said, quietly thanking Wonho for holding the door open and then sliding in. You felt a familiar touch ghost your skin, pushing you in after her. Your hands were tickled by the velvety seats, making you whisper a laugh at the sensation. You looked to your side, feeling Changkyun slide next to you, Wonho doing the same but beside June.
"I think the groom died." Changkyun casually whispered into your ear as soon as he got settled. You eyed him, waiting for him to tell you that he was joking. He had yet to. You leaned closer, sparing a glance at June to make sure she didn't hear before whispering back,
"Are you serious?"
"Kind of. He almost blacked out while watching June's parents come in and take their seats according to Eunhee."
The car jerked forward and Changkyun's head went with it, slamming the side of yours in the process. You both hissed in pain, rocking yourselves back and forth while June and Wonho snickered in entertainment. With your eyes still shut close in pain, you reached out to gently caress the spot on his head where you'd collided.
"Are you okay?" You asked in a very sad attempt to soothe the stinging sensation, ignoring your own.
"I thought your head would be empty, Eggo but it's rock solid." He said while biting his tongue. Your eyes shot open, glaring at him before whacking him in the place you were trying to make less painful. He clutched onto it, practically screeching. You covered your ears.
"Eggo, that wound still hadn't fully healed yet." Changkyun leaned his head on your shoulder, mumbling in pain. It took you a minute to understand what he meant. You'd just assumed he meant that you'd hit him twice.
You almost forgot the massive gash that was in that exact place almost a month ago.
"Shit, I'm sorry." You muttered apologetically, cradling his head in your arms and humming a random tune out of panic.
"Language." Was all he said while he buried his face into your shoulder blade, aggressively clutching onto the fabric of your dress, his cold ring occasionally brushing against the sensitive skin of your hand.
"Never a dull moment with those two, seriously." You heard Wonho chime in from the other side of the moving vehicle.
"Is this what happens when two actors date?" June adds on to his statement, and you could hear the amused scoff from the tone of her voice.
"I think two messed up soulmates is a more reasonable answer. This is what happens when they meet."
You continued to rock the both of you back and forth, fingers running through his hair and almost silent whispers that had no meaning. Changkyun peeked out slightly from you, his entire face still scrunched up in hurt.
"I am so sorry." You couldn't help but have a bit of a giggle escape through your apology, your fingers placing light pressure where you'd hit him to make it feel better.
"It's fine." He squeezed his eyes shut for a split second, his fingers still tightly wrapped around the fabric of your dress and his heated cheek pressed against your skin.
"You two are so weird." June rolled her eyes at the both of you, fixing her veil in which Wonho had graciously helped with. He seemed unnecessarily good at this type of stuff. Perhaps he'd just been to a lot of weddings. You assumed he'd have a fair number of friends. It was probably hard not to when you worked with people almost every day.
You hadn't even noticed that the car had stopped until the limo door flung open. Minhyuk popped his head into the limo, offering his hand out for June, a small pink and yellow flower crown resting atop his head. She happily took it, shuffling out of the long vehicle.
Changkyun reluctantly pulled himself off of you, taking you with him. The rest of the guys, minus Shownu stood patiently, all erupting into an echo of cheers at the sight of June. You could hear the talking of all the guests from the outside of the building already. In such a short period of time, the guests had already arrived. You did suppose there weren't all that many. And Wonho had said you were all running a bit late.
The guys ushered June into the venue, and Jooheon complained for everyone to slow down while he maneuvered his wheelchair. Changkyun huffed, walking forward and holding onto the handles, pushing him in. Jooheon yelped, looking back and easing up as soon as he realized who it was.
"My favorite couple is looking good today."
"You literally saw me forty minutes ago."
"But I didn't see your girlfriend." Jooheon refuted, shaking his head at the man that was pushing him.
"You look great, Y/N." He grinned, ignoring Changkyun's look.
"You look amazing too, Joo." You responded, slipping over to his side as you finally walked into the restaurant. The place was more lively, the excited speaking of everyone being heard from the courtyard where they were all seated. You could see the officiant, who was Mr. Park, June's boss, standing at his place in the gazebo where Shownu had proposed not too long ago. The courtyard was separated by a large door that was placed at the very back of the building, and you watched as the doors closed as soon as everyone started getting ready. June was pushed into one of the rooms to the side where no one else could see her and you could see Shownu uncomfortably pacing not too far forward at the edge of the dark red carpet that was trailing from the middle of the room and straight into the courtyard. June's mother was at his side, whispering something into his ear and resting her hand on his shoulder before making her way into the courtyard through a difference entrance.
Wonho hurried beside you and the rest of the bridesmaids came filing out of the room where June was hiding. Changkyun gave you that annoying little smirk of his before awkwardly gesturing for Hyejin to come towards him.
You think you watched Shownu's soul physically leave his body as soon as the live band started playing the music. You quickly linked arms with Wonho, and he pulled you to the side, making sure you weren't seen when the doors opened. All of the guests turned curiously and Shownu made a mad dash towards the groomsman and bridal party, making sure he wasn't seen.
"Bro, you look like you're about to pass out." Hyungwon pointed out nonchalantly at the hyperventilating groom. Aimée, who was looking surprisingly short despite her heels while clutched onto him gently nudged his side, shaking her head when he turned to look at her.
"Deep breaths." Kihyun encouraged, rubbing Shownu's back and calming him down.
"You're on now. Don't panic. You've got this." He assured, pushing him forward slightly. Shownu took that step himself, turning back to face all of you. You all collectively radiated as much positive energy as you could, so much that your cheeks were beginning to hurt. Shownu stared at all of you in silence for a few moments until a small smile finally found itself on his face.
"Thank you guys."
Shownu's eyes fluttered close. He took a deep breath, a hand placed on his heart as he took a breath out. He mumbled something to himself before getting the cue from the officiant, walking down the aisle like nothing had happened. You watched from the corner of the wooden doors, your own heart rate accelerating just by watching all those eyes focused on the man that had finally made it to the flower adorned gazebo. Vines were hanging down the sides and so were string lights, making it seem like fairy dust.
The party of you all burst out into silent panic, completely forgetting who was to go next so Kihyun and Emi walked down, slowing down to match the beat of the piano and the slow strumming of a mellow cello. Hyungwon and Aimée followed close after, waiting for the other two to separate at the stairs, Kihyun standing a few feet away from Shownu while Emi stood the same way in regards to where June would be standing in a few moments. Wonho looked down at you, fixing his tie with his free hand before nodding for clarification. You nodded back at him, feeling your own legs feel like jelly despite the fact this wasn't even your wedding.
Your heels clicked on the platform that the carpet was on and you carefully watched every step you took to make sure you wouldn't trip and fall on your face. Though you made sure to look and smile at the few cameras scattered across the room every now and then.
It was instinctive.
When Wonho and you finally made it to the stairs, you unlinked, grinning playfully at each other before you walked to the left and he walked to the right.
You swore you'd almost fallen while trying to get up. You took your place right next to Emi, the bridesmaids slowly getting closer to the altar.
June was to fill the gap.
You carefully watched Changkyun walk down the aisle, them both arm and arm, not looking as awkward as they normally would be. You looked out of the corner of your eye to see Jake, who was still staring at Changkyun with a hint of spite before looking to his wife.
He smiled.
When the two finally separated, Hyejin stood beside you, and you all anxiously waited for that music to start playing.
Eunhee and Jooheon were the last pair to come in, Eunhee happily pushing Jooheon down the aisle in his wheelchair which was suddenly decorated with more flower garlands.
He looked cute.
When they made it to the foot of the gazebo, Wonho and Hyungwon hurriedly made their way down, lifting Jooheon in his wheelchair up the stairs with ease. You could hear the guests whisper over their muscles flexing through their suits. They were almost all married and if not in relationships.
Even Aimée seemed to be staring, only snapping herself out of it when Emi started softly giggling to herself.
Everyone made it to their places again. The whispers faded into a chorus of laughs as soon as Minhyuk came in, a weaved basket in hand and jumping along the red carpet gracefully. He threw the pastel flower petals everywhere, covering every inch of the place. He spun, leaping, matching the music and laughing while sprinkling the petals on the other guests, making them laugh even more. When he made it to the front aisle, he pulled out a tulip, handing it to Shownu's mother and then walking over to the other end and doing the same with June's.
Minhyuk grinned to himself, walking up the stairs and sprinkling some more of flowers on top of Shownu's head with a cackle, taking his place respectfully as if he hadn't done anything. Changkyun nudged him slightly but Minhyuk continued to grin in satisfaction.
The guests had still yet to stop laughing.
You didn't think those two were serious when they said they wanted Minhyuk to be the flower boy.
It was rather charming of him.
Your eyes happened to meet the gaze of Changkyun, his eyes sparkling under the afternoon sun. You gestured to his tie as discreetly as you could, noticing that it was slightly crooked. His fingers looped around it and he didn't even bother to look down while fixing it. The corner of his lips tugged up gently, his eyes softening as he silently stared. You raised an eyebrow at him, wondering why he was watching you with such a gentle gaze. He shook his head at you, his head tilting to the side dreamily while he did so. Jooheon gently flicked Changkyun's thigh, making him snap out of it.
That's when the familiar music started playing. Shownu faltered backwards just the slightest and Mr. Park pressed his hand to the center of his back, bending down to whisper something in his ear. Shownu nodded and everyone in the courtyard stood up from their white chairs.
And there she was.
You were very right. Shownu definitely almost passed out. Mr. Park had caught him yet again, straightening his back while Shownu stared at June in awe. Her arm was innocently looped in her fathers, the long trail of her dress dancing behind her while she walked down the red carpet with the biggest of smiles.
If there were tears streaming down Shownu's face, you couldn't tell. All you could see was the look in his eyes. The look in both of their eyes. They were looking at each other like they were each other's whole world, their whole universe. You found yourself watching their faces, the way they were muttering things under their breaths with the brightest expression yet they still managed to understand each other. As June got closer, Shownu got more antsy, his hands awkwardly palming at his side and jumping lightly in his place.
June was shining greater than everything else in the courtyard. Everyone was staring at her in shock, their whispers almost as loud as the emotions that were pouring through the both of them.
You hurriedly wiped at the tear that fell from one of your eyes, hoping that it didn't mess up your makeup, bringing yourself back together before you started crying more.
They were so beautiful. More beautiful than they normally were.
You looked to Changkyun again, all the way on the other side of the massive gazebo, his eyes furrowed as you met his stare.
"You okay?" He mouthed, ignoring the fact that June was passing by him alongside her father. He waited for them to not block his view, peeking out from behind his shoulder. You narrowed your eyes at his, shaking your head and mouthing a quick "I'm fine" before urging him to focus with gentle hand gestures.
June's father placed a hand on Shownu's shoulder, making him bend down so that he could whisper something only those two would know. Shownu's eyes glistened in pride as he shook his head in agreement to whatever the words were that were exchanged between them.
"This it it, huh?" You heard June grin softly up at Shownu. Even with those stunning jeweled heels, he was still taller than her.
"This is it, Junebug." He repeated, holding both of his hands out for her to take.
She did just that.
You watched with an uncontrollably giddy expression, your vision jumping from their hands to the flowers, to the audience, to your boyfriend who was staring at nothing but you.
"Focus." You mouthed at him, pointing at the couple you were both standing partially behind and to the side of. He mouthed something back at you but you couldn't pick it up, so you shrugged it off.
You hadn't even noticed that the officiant had started talking and that everyone had been seated.
"I'm sure you've all been anticipating this day." Mr. Park starts, his tone serious as it always is but something about him seemed rather light to say the last.
"Whether you've known the couple for a few months, or a few years, or before they started dating." He fake coughed, "Like me."
The guests couldn't help but snicker. Neither could you. Mr. Park had always seemed rather scary. This was your second time seeing him.
"We've all gathered to see their unification, which is long overdue if I do say so myself." He chuckled. He straightened out his suit and tapped his chest for a second.
"The most remarkable moment in life is when you meet the person who makes you feel complete. The person who makes the world a beautiful and magical place. The person with whom you share a bond so special that it transcends normal relationships and becomes something so pure and so wonderful, that you can't imagine spending another day of your life without them. It goes without show that Shownu and June have shown this bond and have never let it go."
June playfully raised her eyebrows at Shownu and Shownu simply squeezed her hands, his eyes soft as he watched her beam.
"I, too, had a wedding like this one a very very long time ago. Watching these two grow and learn to love each other all from the day they had first met has been one of the biggest gifts my life could give me. I think of them both as my own children, and seeing them finally  join together in marriage fills me with so much joy." Mr. Park wiped away his fake tears, making the audience laugh again. Even the two up front started giggling to themselves.
"In all seriousness, I wish I could list all of the times I've seen the bride and groom care for each other. There's too many times to count and I'm not even with them everyday. They've pushed through all their difficulties hand in hand and have held each other at even the darkest of hours. I can say it with all my heart when I say that although both are amazing individuals, they are a spectacular team. I'm sure they'll be even better as husband and wife."
He was kind of getting you emotional again. You could tell that June was getting there too. Even Shownu, honestly.
"I want to keep this brief, so would you both care to exchange your vows. We'll start with June." Mr. Park finally ended his first part of the ceremony. Eunhee walked over to her side, handing her the small card that you didn't know she'd been holding before retreating back to the spot beside you. June eased her face muscles, looking down at the card with her gently trembling hands. Shownu rested his own on her wrists, nodding encouragingly. She took a deep breath, giving herself a second before beginning to speak.
"Hey." She giggled up at him, her copper hair shining under the bright sunlight.
"Hey." He repeated, unable to have that lovestruck expression on his face fade away.
"We promised to make these as short as we could, so I tried my best but it's so hard to narrow down the list of promises I want to make to you." She began, joy laced between every single one of her words,
"So, I'll start with the basic one. I vow to continue baking those chocolate cupcakes for every anniversary. I swear I'll never forget a year."
"Good. I can't live without them." Shownu joked back at her, his hands still tightly wrapped around her wrists.
"I vow to stay by your side, no matter how busy we both get and no matter what the circumstances are. I'm never leaving you alone."
Changkyun was staring at you again. You could feel it. You didn't want to look back at him though. He might either do something stupid to make you laugh or do something cute and make you cry more than you're already about to.
Neither would be fitting for the situation.
"I vow to be as good of a partner as I can be and finally I vow to love and cherish you with every moment we have. This life is ours to live together forever and I vow to make it worthwhile."
"Junebug, I'm going to cry." Shownu leaned down slightly, hiding his face for a few moments before springing back up, Mr. Park gesturing for Jooheon to roll over with Shownu's card, which he did.
He almost got stuck. He managed to pull back in no time though.
"We said that these vows were going to be short since we wanted to have a time just for ourselves to go in-depth but I think I shortened them a bit too much. I only have one vow."
Kihyun scoffed rather loudly, his eyes widening when he'd realized that he was the only one that made a sound. He gulped, eyeing Eunhee who was burning lasers through his skin with her gaze.
Shownu ignored his best friend, putting the card that he'd been given into one of his pockets. June watched curiously as he did so, tilting her head slightly at him.
"I vow to continue being the man you want to come home to. The man that will hold you when you need, the man that will sing you that French love song when you can't fall asleep, the man that will talk to you for hours when you get bored, the man that will never forget to remind you how beautiful you are, and finally, the man that will actually learn how to fold a t-shirt the way you like them."
June laughed through the soft tears that trickled her cheek, only for Shownu to quickly wipe them away with the pad of his thumb, careful enough not to wipe her makeup off.
Wish you could tell him it was waterproof and it wouldn't budge no matter how hard he tried.
"Can we get the rings?" Mr. Park requested, looking to the groomsmen side once again. Minhyuk stepped forward, flower crown still atop head and basket still in hand. He pulled out two boxes, handing them to their respective person before skipping discreetly back to his position.
You finally gave in to the man that was so intently staring at you, meeting his eyes only to be found with Changkyun's honey gaze. It was slowly melting you for some reason.
"I love you." He mouthed without hesitation, the simple yet loving smirk that was plastered on his face was aggravating but so not aggravating. You couldn't help but break out into a smile however. He was being so genuine. You had wondered what had gotten into him. You mouthed it back, knowing he'd understood when you could see his dimples divot in his cheek, his eyes creasing in the corners happily.
"Finally, do you Kim June, take this man as your lawfully wedded husband?" Mr. Park asked, and you were wondering how you'd tuned out the entire first part of the ring exchange.
You'd missed Shownu's part.
"I do."
She slipped the ring onto his left ring finger and you'd taken notice of the one that was on hers as well.
"Well then, by the power vested in me by the officiant registration, it is my honor and delight to declare you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Let's just say that Shownu didn't waste a single second at that command.
