Both Maxence and Evelyn loved reading, it was one of the things they shared a passion for. This was something no one expected of them. A boxer and a mafiaboss who both had a passion for reading?

Evelyn liked going to bookstores so she could choose a random book in the store that caught her eye and become someone else for some time. Maxence had the same goal; to escape into someone elses reality.

They had a lot more in common than they thought.

Both liked listening to music to shut out the outside world, as well as touching the spine of every book they walked past. They read the first sentence of every book that caught their attention and decided from there if this was the right book for them to read. But it all depended on their mood

Today, they both felt annoyed and irritated.

Evelyn was in the store first; she was thinking about the boy she was gonna kill. He was a dick, and she knew he was a stone-cold fucker. But she still doubted with a small piece of her heart that he had killed her father. He made her feel alive again, but she had been told he had ended the only other person that had made her feel alive. She couldn't let herself feel anything, she needed to stick to the plan and end her fathers killer. It was gonna be painful for him. But she had to do it, and remove the killer from this earth. She couldn't get distracted, she needed to be cold and emotionless. She could feel alive through the books and music, but not in real life, if she wanted to succeed.

Maxence walked through the door while greeting the owner. Everyone was afraid of him, he loved and hated it at the same time. Therefore, he felt like he could escape from himself in books and music. He had killed a lot of people, but only people who deserved it, and he had seen and experience a lot at a young age. The mafia life wasn't easy, but he handled it well. He had people he trusted, and plenty of girls to fuck. But not her, and it drove him insane. He knew she felt the attraction just like him, the sexual tension. And even though he was attracted to her, he hated her. She annoyed the fuck out of him, and he only wanted to fuck the tension away and forget her. Because that was the only thing there, right? Either way, he wanted to forget for a little while, just like her.

Walking on either side of the shelf, they were too into their own thoughts to notice the other. She was listening to Golden by Harry Styles while he was listening to Blue Notes by Meek Mill. Both songs seemed to remind them of something, something they both tried to escape. Touching every book's spine while reading every title they got lost trying to find their escape.

But then, the same book caught their attention, and they both went to grab it. Their hands touched and that created electricity which made them break out of their trance. But instead they fell into another one. She fell into a golden one and he a blue one. Their real escape, which they couldn't seem to admit to themselves yet.

Maxences POV:

Fucking Blue. I couldn't seem to fucking get away from her, no matter how hard I tried, she always seemed to pop up in the places I used to escape. First my fucking town, the gym, the club, my own damn mind, and now, the bookstore. And she even wanted the same book as me. She could dream on, that book was mine. I hadn't read the first sentence yet, but now that she wanted it, I wanted it even more.

Snatching the book from her hands I smirked at her through the book shelf. ''Well, your reflexes are getting slower Caro'' I said. ''And you haven't stopped stalking me I see asshole'' she answered while rolling her eyes. She was so sassy, I wanted to fucking strangle her. She came around to my side of the book shelf. ''Now can you give back the book?'' she held out her hand. Her sleeve had rolled up and that revealed a tattoo on her wrist. «Champ».
