4:00 P.M.
The Same Day...

"And can you describe the men to us, ma'am?"

"I already made fifty reports with my husband! Ion know why y'all acting like y'all don't know me! Miss me with the bull, officer."

Currently, Farah and Novah were both in the back of ambulances getting checked. Farah was answering some questions about what happened, but just as she suspected, it was the same officers.

Treyton was standing with Novah so she wouldn't be tempted to act up. Neither of their injuries were life threatening; Farah walking away with a busted lip and Novah with a few scratches on her hands.

When the car was hit, it spun out of control but Farah was quick to stop it. She managed to stop them from hitting a tree and three van trucks.

"We'll, ma'am, there isn't much we can do without a description."

"Okay. You can leave now."

Walking away to get the statements of bystanders, the officers continued their horrible job. See, when Howie and Clarence saw the car spin out of control, they instantly thought that it was over for the two inside. That resulted in them speeding off without looking back, but they had already been caught without knowing.

Treyton saw how upset his wife was, and he picked up Novah after she was good and walked on over.

"What they say, bae? They doing something 'bout it?"

"Hell nah. They act like we ain't been telling them 'bout these people for a long ass while now. Like they don't know what the hell those people look like. Shit is really getting to be aggravating at this point."

"Man! I'll go up there tomorrow. See what they got going on."

"Mhm."

Because she was so upset, Farah didn't realize Novah was trying to reach for her. She just got out the back of the ambulance when she was cleared and walked towards Treyton's truck. Novah had a sad look on her face. For a split second, she felt like she always did before she was taken out of that horrible house.

Treyton noticed this, and he also noticed that his wife was out of it. He, of course, had been having thoughts that maybe Farah wasn't all too happy about having adopted Novah since everything started. He made a mental note to ask her about it; he just wanted to make sure she wasn't giving up on baby girl.

"Let's go check on mommy, Peaches."

He went over to his car, buckled Novah in and went around to the driver side. He glanced over at Farah and noticed her laying her head on the window. With a loud sigh, he just put the car into drive and pulled off. He occasionally glanced in the rear view mirror and noticed the same sad look on Novah's face. He didn't like it.

The family made it home, ate in silence, and got ready for bed. That didn't feel like talking; all of them having reached their breaking points.

Life was going to be easy for a while, but there's always calm before a storm.
