San Francisco, CA
High School Days...

On this particular day, Farah and Treyton would meet. They had crossed paths before, both being too shy to say anything. It was also a little difficult because of Farah's big sister, Fatinah. She had a boyfriend, her little sister's last crush, but she was now after the current one.

Fatinah had eavesdropped on Farah's conversations with her group of friends a few times, and she was more than ready to ruin Farah's plans to talk to the new boy.

Treyton Williams had joined their school a little over a month ago, and almost every girl in every grade was swooning over him. He wasn't the type to go around flaunting his looks or skills, but that didn't mean the females would stay away.

Treyton didn't pay them any mind because he too had his eyes set on someone at the moment. Farah. They had chemistry together and were even partners for a few projects, but outside of school they were basically strangers. Until one day.

After being dropped off on a Thursday morning, Farah and Fatinah had fell in line going the same place; Treyton's locker.

Farah, of course, wasn't aware of her big sister following her. She tried to stay behind and blend with a few students to not make herself noticeable.

When Treyton pulled his head out of his locker, he noticed the brown-skinned girl heading straight for him. He did a quick hygiene check, and made sure his clothes didn't have any wrinkles in them.

By the time he finished, Farah was already in front of him with a nervous smile on her face.

"Hey, Trey. How you doing?"

"I'm doing okay, Farah. How about you?"

"I'm okay. I just wanted to ask you something before I get nervous and backed out."

Directly across the hall were Farah's best friend and their mutual friends. They were silently egging her on, and down from them was Fatinah. She had a smirk on her face because of the plans she herself had.

"Wassup? You needed something?"

"Not necessarily. I just wanted to know if you were free this weekend."

"Yeah. You got plans for us?"

"Well...we can ride around and find something to do. I'm sure you didn't get a chance to see everything yet."

"That's cool. Let me get your number so we can talk more later."

"Oh-umm-okay. Here."

After exchanging numbers, they had their first hug and went on to class; both wearing large smiles.

End of The Day...

It was now the end of the school day, and Farah and Treyton were walking out of the building together. He had waited in her at her last class, and they made their way to the pickup area.

While walking down the steps, they were stopped by Fatinah and her "friends."

"Hey, little sister. What's up?"

"Nothing."

"Oh. Well are you going to introduce me to your friend?"

"No."

Taken aback, Fatinah tried to hide her shock. She thought that Farah would react how she normally did around boys she was interested in, but not this time.

"Well then. How are you? I'm Fatinah; Farah's OLDER sister."

"Mhm. I'm Treyton."

"Oh! That's a cute name. You're tall. You play any spor-."

"With all due respect, I'm only over here to talk to your sister."

Fatinah's friends were silently laughing while Farah was slightly blushing. Every other guy who met her sister tried to get with her immediately, and Farah was sure this would go the same way. But boy was she wrong.

"What? You like her something?"

"I do."

"Lol. You could like me too. I don't bite, you know."

By now, Farah was frustrated and ready to insert herself. She had enough. But before she could, Treyton responded and shocked everyone.

"Lol. I'm good. I plan on making her my wife one day. I don't even know you. And you're not my type. Sorry."

Now Fatinah was embarrassed. She had never been turned down, and Farah had never been praised in front of her before. She was pissed.

"Well my sister isn't allowed to date. So just come talk to me when you're ready."

"Nah. I'm okay where I'm at."

Huffing, she turned around just as their mother blew the horn and called out to them. She stomped off down the steps, not even saying goodbye to her friends, and went to get in the backseat.

Farah stayed behind a few seconds longer to hug Treyton goodbye. She made sure to let him know she would text him when he got home, and she followed in her sister's footsteps, but getting in the passenger seat. She waved bye to Treyton as they were driving off.

"Who was that, ma'am?"

"This boy from one of my classes. He's so sweet, ma."

"Tuh! He just disrespected me! And you stood there!"

"Calm down, Ti. What happened?"

Farah explained the situation to her mother, her sister in the backseat mugging her.

"Well it just seems he know what he wants. There's nothing wrong with that."

"Yeah right. Like the last few, right?"

That got under Farah's skin. And her mother noticed.

"I'm not even speaking on them. Let it go. You got them, right? Quit being insecure. It's not cute."

"I'm insecure because all your little boyfriends want me? Okay."

"You insecure because unlike you I don't have to get down on my knees in order for boys to even glance at me.  And I don't go after boys my sister likes to prove to everybody else I can be just like her. You're delusional, babe."

"OKAY!  Cut it out you two. Y'all are sisters. Act like it. And watch your mouth, Farah."

Farah didn't even say anything else. She put her earbuds in and rested her head on the window the rest of the way home. Fatinah was in the back red as a tomato. This was the second time today she felt embarrassed.

Little did they both know, Treyton wasn't weak minded and immature like previous dudes Farah crushed on. He knew who he wanted, and he wasn't coming up off of her for anything.
