Matthew, Caroline, and Ella along with Mr. Felton walked out of the office. Ella looked around and saw Axel's father Mr. Dominic King, Veronica's parents, and Zoe's parents.
She stood for a couple of seconds, her stomach churned, her eyes closed. She suddenly wanted to be small and to crawl under a rock. She was scared, embarrassed, and wronged.
Everyone was looking at her disappointedly. Veronica's and Zoe's parents were furious. She couldn't meet anyone's eye, so, she looked down at the ground. She tried to hide behind her father for comfort and gripped his suit jacket from behind.
Matthew cleared his throat. "I would like to apologize to everyone present here for my daughter's actions. I promise you, she will be punished and hopefully, she won't repeat these mistakes, she will learn from them."
Caroline pulled her away from Matthew and gestured her to go and apologize to everyone. "Ella would like to apologize as well" Caroline announced.
Ella helplessly walked to where Zoe was standing with her head down. "I am so sorry, Zoe and Veronica" she hiccuped and sniffled. "Please believe that I was not myself at the time and I will not do this again, I'm so sorry" she read from the page her mother wrote for her.
She walked towards Chloe and finally looked up. "I didn't send that message" her voice barely above a whisper.
"That's not an apology," Caroline said
Ella sobbed, her tiny whimper resonated in the entire room. "I am sorry, Chloe. I respect you and I want you to know that. It's all on me. I hope you can set it aside... I'm sorry" she wiped her eyes furiously with the back of her hand.
She slowly walked towards Mr. King and Axel. Her heart began to hammer against her chest. She was scared of Axel and more scared of Mr. King. That man had a menacing aura surrounding him.
"A-Axel" she stuttered, she was trembling, anyone could see that. "I... I am sorry--" her apology was cut off when Mr. King raised his hand, stopping her from saying anything further.
He smiled. It wasn't a normal smile but a smile that sent shivers down her spine. "I don't think you've done anything wrong, my dear. I am glad you told me about what my son has been up to" he said
