Three weeks had passed since we found out that the life support machine had been putting her in more pain. The doctors explained that with her breathing at the same time the machine was pushing air into her lungs, that she was inhaling twice the amount of air she usually would, and were lucky her lungs hadn't burst. It sounded painful, I couldn't imagine living like that

"Hi Steele." Mr Jobins smiles as I walked into the hospital room

"Anything yet?" I asked; she hasn't woken up yet

"Nothing yet." He sighed, patting her hand before standing up

"I've got to do the chores at home, so keep an eye on her." He mumbled as he walked out the door and down the hallway. Everyone spent time here, talking to her, playing music, hell, Lexi even started reading to her...50 shades of something I think. Kira and River were now happily dating, and Sarah was still 'subtly' hinting at Luke; not that he was catching on. I sat with her for a while, talking quietly to her about random things that popped into my head

"She hates me...she always picks me in class! Its horrible. And if I say anything she turns it all on me." I sulk, ranting about Mrs McDonald "the only reason she hates me is because I made an old McDonald joke when I first got out in her class, although I think you were there..." I trailed off.

All too soon, it was 8 o'clock and visiting hours were over

"I'll see you tomorrow." I sighed, kissing her forehead before walking out of the room.

The next morning everyone had manditory classes at the school, so we couldn't get to the hospital until later

"I wanna go see Ace!" Sarah sulked, crossing her arms and sounding like a small child

"Grow up, Jesus Christ your whiny today!" Luke snapped, shoving himself off my tailgate and stomping into the school

"What the hell was that?" Josh asked, the first of us to pick their jaw go off the gravel we were standing on

"Hell if I know..." I muttered, watching him slam the doors open and dissparear inside

"He's oblivious Sarah, he'll come around." Josh smiled, wrapping a friendly arm around her shoulders

"I hope so." Sarah mumbled, curling into his chest slightly

"I'm going to be late." Lexi frowned, glancing at Josh before following after Luke

"I'm confused... What's wrong with those two?" River questioned, looking at the door curiously

"You boys are dense. I'll go talk to them." Kira giggled before running inside

"I give up! I'm either moving or going gay!" Josh exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air

"I'm so sure." Sarah scoffed

"Whatever, let's go." I chuckled, lifting my tailgate shut before heading inside with the remainder of our small, tattered group.

"What was that about?" I asked, jogging up to Kira in the hallway and throwing my arm around her shoulders

"You dolt! Luke's a chicken shit with a temper, and Lexi likes Josh!" She giggled, pushing me slightly

"Wait, Lexi likes Josh?" I asked, pulling her to a hault
