Aces POV

I'd gone strait to my room when I got home yesterday and hadn't left since, not crying after the confrontation in the parking lot. My father yelled through the door for hours trying to find out what was wrong...but I'd stayed silent before finally falling into a numb sleep.

Waking up the next morning I felt better; betrayed and kind of broken, but I knew I'd live

"Can I come in baby?" My mom asked, knocking on the door

"Sure." I mumbled as I opened the door

"Honey what's going on? You've never skipped classes." She questioned, leading me over to sit on my bed

"Its nothing, mom. It doesn't matter anymore." I told her, taking a deep breath as I reminded myself what he'd done

"Alright, but if you ever want to talk, just come find me." She frowned slightly before walking back downstairs, leaving me to dress for today. I combed through my clothes until I found a shirt that said "Gunpowder and Lead" across the chest, and a pair of ripped jeans. I left my hair strait and added a coat of mascara before going downstairs

"Bye." I mumbled, walking past the kitchen

"Breakfast first!" My mom yelled after me, poking her head out of the kitchen

"Not hungry. I'll see you guys later." I explained quietly, my stride never slowing

"But-" she didn't get to finish before the screen door slammed shut behind me and I was jogging to my truck.

I walked into the school with my head held high, my "usual" smile planted on my face

"Hello darling." Kira smiled, walk up beside me and lacing her arm through my own, matching my pace

"Hey gorgeous." I grinned, though she saw how hurt I really was

"Its okay, babe. He didn't deserve this sexy little babe anyways." She smiled, hugging my arm as we carried on

"Ace, can we please just-" Steele asked as he jogged over to us

"WHY DONT YOU DIE IN A HOLE?!" Kira screamed as Lexi materialized in front of us, glaring and snarling

"I think you've done enough already." Before looping her arm through the one Kira wasn't already gripping. I didn't say anything, just focused on his face, realizing how much I'd come to care about the bastard in the few times we'd gone out

"Ace..." He pleaded, his eyes searching mine

"We should go, guys. We're gonna be late." I glared coldly, walking around him

"He doesn't know what he threw away." Lexi smiled kindly, looking up at me

"It doesn't matter anymore." I mumbled "but I'll see you guys later, I'm gonna go to class." I added, smiling slightly before walking to my locker and grabbing my books before going to class, already knowing today was gonna be a long one.

"We're going out tonight; Luka's throwing a party tonight at his place, back field by the lake. I'm picking you up in two hours." Kira sang when I answered the phone

"Bonfire?" I asked with a smile; this was just what I needed.

"Yeah, and his friends from the town over are coming too." I could hear the grin in her voice as she told me "so shorts, bikini underneath" She giggled

"Alright. I'll see ya at 10." I grinned before going to my closet and picking out some dukes and a tight, bright red tank top, and a camp bikini before running to the bathroom for a shower. Once I was out and dressed, I made my way over to my vanity, where I curled my hair and put on some water proof eyeliner and mascara

"Honey, what are you-oh, party tonight?" My dad asked as he walked into my room

"Yeah, Luka Xzeers is throwing it." I told him, finishing my makeup

"Well, have fun, be safe, and don't drink too much." He smiled, his kindness and happiness shining in his eyes

"I will." I laughed as Kira honked the horn of her truck

"Oh, and Ace..." He called "you look beautiful." He added, looking at me

"Thanks daddy." I smiled, hugging him tightly before running out to Kiras truck

"Bout time. Let's go!" She yelled, pushing the pedal down.

The party had just gotten going when we pulled up, the sun just setting

"Let's go get our drunk on." I grinned, hopping out of the pick up and walking over to the tailgate covered in alcohol

"Well hello there sexy mama..." A voice drawled from behind me "where's your man?" He asked, coming around so I could see him

"Didn't work out." I smiled at the unknown guy in front of me

"That's really just too damn bad." He smiled

"You aren't from around here, are you?" I laughed, drinking the mixture in my cup

"No, I'm not." He chuckled, cracking another cold one and leaning his side against the truck "How could you tell?" He questioned before taking a drink

"Because everybody in town watched the fight between Steele and I yesterday at school." I explained, looking into the liquid as I sloshed it around on my cup

"You wanna talk 'bout it?" He asked, looking genuenly concerned

"Uh, sure. I guess." I mumbled, looking up at him curiously

"We can talk by the lake." He suggested, gesturing with the bottle in his hand

"Sure." I mumbled, walking beside him towards the edge of the water, sitting down a few feet from the edge

"Fuck...I thought maybe he'd changed..." I whispered, watching the lake wave

"What do you mean?" He asked, taking a sip of his drink as he looked at me

"He was a manwhore, when I first agreed to go out with him. He fucked anything with a vigina and pulse, hell, I probably wouldn't even have agreed to go out with him if he hasn't beat up my ex for getting too feely at a party. He just seemed so....sweet, I guess." I explained, still watching the water, the stranger beside me watching me "we went out the night before the argument, camped out in by a pond on his families property. Then the next day, my friend showed me a video that someone had made of Steele and his friend Josh making a bet to see if he could get me to screw him in two weeks." I explained, shaking my head as a couple stray tears fell "I lost it...punched him in the face and screamed at him before leaving. He chased after me, asking how he could fix it, but I told him the only thing he could do was to leave me alone." I finished, tears falling steadily as I pressed my face into my knees and cried

"Its alright...by the sound of it he doesn't know what he lost..." The stranger soothed, wrapping his arms around me as I cried for the first time since the argument

"Jesus fucking Christ why am I crying?!" I sobbed, holding onto his shirt

"Because your hurt." He mumbled, rubbing my back "and when people hurt, they cry." He added. He held me while I calmed down, rubbing my back and whispering soothing things in my ear

"You okay?" He asked, pulling back a bit

"Yeah, I am. And I'm sorry. You don't even know me and just sat through a break down." I chuckled, wiping away the tears left on my cheeks

"Its fine. And the names Dallas." He smiled, holding out his hand

"Ace." I grinned, shaking his hand. We joked for a while, getting to know each other more and watching the water as the moon went higher into the sky

"Ace." A voice mumbled sadly from behind us "can we talk."
