The rest of the week passes quickly, most of the events seeming to blur together. David was arrested, my mother bought a brand new truck, and I had been released from the hospital on Thursday afternoon. Honestly, I was dreading going back to school. Since I'd missed nearly a week, I'd have tons of homework to catch up on.

I'd straitened my hair, and had chosen a black tank top that said "Mud and Mascara" in a scrolly green font across my chest, a pair of ripped jeans, my boots, and a browning cap

"Good morning my amazing and ever loving family." I chirped as I skipped into the kitchen, grabbing my breakfast and the travel mug my mother had filled with coffee

"Do you have everything?" My father asked. He didn't want me to go back, and even suggested home schooling, going as far as to say he'd do it himself

"Yup." I smiled reassuringly before kissing both my parents on the cheek and making my way out to my truck and calling Steele

"Hello?" He answered quickly, sounding mad

"Hey Steele, you okay? You sound like your gonna kill somebody..." I trailed off, grabbing my sunglasses off the passenger seat and slipping them on

"Yeah, just another argument with my dad." He mumbled angrily, and I could hear his father yelling at him in the background

"Well, I was wondering if you got your truck fixed." I mentioned, changing the topic

"No, I'm still waiting for parts." He sighed "my dads been driving me till they come in." He added, sounding ready to punch something

"Well tell him not to bother. I can drive you in til they get here. I'll be there soon." I told him, starting my truck and pulling out of my parking spot

"You sure you can put up with me til then?" He teased, and I could hear the smile in his voice

"No, but its worth a try." I laughed, driving down my driveway

"Aren't you kind. I'll see ya in a few." He chuckled

"Bye." I smiled before hanging up and connecting my phone to the sterio, Tyler Farr's 'Redneck Crazy' starting to play through the speakers. By the time I pulled into Steele's yard, I'd gone through three songs and Kelsea Ballerini's "Love Me Like a Love Song". Steele came out of the house, his mother behind him crying and screaming something before shaking her fist at him and going back into the house while he jumped into the truck, laughing at the song

"What's wrong with your mom?" I asked slowly, watching as a bowl came flying out the door, his father running out thebdoor to the barn as his mother ran out, throwing more dishes after him

"We got in an argument, and he told me I should just move out or go die. She got mad and started screaming after I told him the county would be better off if it were him leaving or dying." I looked at him silently for a moment, him staring back at me, confused

"What?" He asked, tilting his head

"Why do you stay, even with your father being an ass?" I questioned, looking at the road and driving down their driveway

"I don't know. He needs the help, I guess." He mumbled, sounding like he hasn't thought of the idea

"But he wants to sell. I know you don't want him to, but what is he selling it for?" I asked, not looking away from the road

"Its only worth $30,000, but he's asking $75,000." He told me, shaking his head at his fathers idiocy

"Why is he selling?" I asked, finally glancing over at him
