**Ace's father^^**

-----------------------------------------

Ace

I'd finished my chores, I'd eaten supper, and I'd finished my homework; leaving nothing to do but call Steele

"Hey Ace." He mumbled through the line

"Hey, what's up?" I asked, hearing a clang followed by more than a few choice words

"Trying to fix this damn tractor." He swore again, and I could hear someone yelling in the background

"If its so fucking easy why don't you get off your ass and do it!" Steele yelled

"Because you're the one who fucked it up in the first place!" I heard his dad bellow

"Is this a bad time, cos I can call back..." I trailed off

"No, its fine. So, you allowed to go out tonight?" He asked, clanging away in the tractor engine

"Sure am, what did you have in mind?" I questioned, throwing a pen in the air

"Its a surprise, but it's set up here, do you want me to come pick you up now, or is later better?" He asked, his dad mocking him in the background "dad, shut up." He added, though it was muffled, like he'd covered the phone

"I can drive down, I'll see ya in a bit." I grinned. We said our goodbyes, and I walked over to my closet, deciding on a pair of camp shorts and a bright orange tank top. I tossed my hair in a sloppy pony tail before wandering downstairs

"Bye mom, bye daddy, I'll be home later." I smiled as I kissed both their cheeks

"And where are you going all dressed to impress?" My dad teased, setting down his Western Horseman magazine

"Over to Steele's, I'm not sure what we're doing, but I don't feel like dressing up tonight." I explained, striking a pose

"Alright, have fun, and if he screws up I'll kick his ass." My dad grinned, flexing his arms

"Yeah, and pull an old man muscle while your at it." My mom scoffed, not looking away from her book

"Shut up, I ain't that old!" My dad exclaimed, dropping his magazine entirely

"Whatever you say honey, now calm down, stress leads to heart attacks." My mother continued, finally glancing at a now shocked husband

"I'm just gonna go..." I giggled, backing out the door

"I'm only 45! That isn't old!" My dad continued

"Oh, no! Of course not dear!" My mother chided, not letting her joke end.

"Those two will me the death of me" I thought as I pulled down our driveway.

I parked my truck next to Steele's and hopped out, my bunny slippers kicking up a little dust as I walked up to the front door and knocked

"Oh, Ace honey! How good to see you!" Mrs Grahms smiled, hugging me tightly "their out in the barn, I'll walk with you." She explained, stepping out and closing the door before leading me towards the barn, telling me how she was glad Steele and I had worked it all out

"Ace is here!" Mrs Grahms called as we walked through the door

"Hello Ace." Mr Jobins smiled from the chair he sat on. Steele hadn't heard his mother, his head stuck in the tractors engine

"Steele!" His mother shouted, crossing her arms

"Wha-ah fuck!" He yelped, hitting his head and falling off the small ladder and onto his father, who knocked over a large bucket of oil, coating them both

"Hi Steele." I giggled, watching as he sat up, a stunned look on his face

"H-hi..." He trailed, looking around, while Mrs Graham's and I laughed

"You two go shower, Ace and I will make some popcorn." She chuckled as the four of us walked out of the barn

"Sorry you have to wait..." Steele mumbled, the tips of his ears turning pink

"That's fine, I don't mind helping your mom." I smiled up at him as he held the door open for me. He leaned down and kissed my cheek quickly before jogging upstairs, taking his shirt off as he went

"He's just like his father when he was young, always up to something, making people mad, or doing something to get in trouble." Mrs Grahms smiled, recalling her husbands antics

"How long have you two been married?" I asked as I put some oil in the pot

"We've been married 20 years this August." She smiled, a happy, dreamy look on her face "I remember when he proposed. We went to a local dance, and he suddenly dissapeared. He'd gone and asked the band to play my favorite song, and ran back  to ask me to dance. At the end of the song, he got down on one knee and asked me if I'd marry him and make him the happiest man alive. I started crying, and unable to say anything, just nodded my head. I was only 22, he was 25, and my parents were completely against the idea, but of course we got married anyways. Three years later, Steele was born and my life was perfect." She smiled as we listened to the last of the popcorn pop

"That's so sweet." I smiled, trying to reach a bowl

"Oh, I'm sorry dear, Brad and Steele insist on putting things where I can't reach them." She frowned, both of us frowning up at the bowl

"Awe, can't you two reach the bowls?" I heard someone chuckle from behind us. Turning around, we saw Steele and his father standing there grinning. Mr Grahm's was wearing a white dress shirt with black jeans, and Steele was bare chested, wearing nothing but a pair of pajama pants

"If you two would put them lower we could!" Mrs Graham's whined, stomping her foot and crossing her arms

"Fine, we'll start putting them lower." Steele laughed, walking around me and easily grabbing a large bowl and handing it to his mother, who smiled sweetly and pinched his cheek. Once we'd put the popcorn into the bowl, Steele stuffed a handful into his mouth while Brad slipped his wife's coat over her shoulders

"Well, you kids have fun, we're going out. We'll be home later." She smiled as she grabbed her purse and walked out the door

"Safe sex." Mr Grahms smirked as he followed her

"Dad!" Steele yelled, throwing a spoon at him, causing Brad to laugh as he walked away "Well, let's go." Steele smiled, grabbing some more junk food and walking out the door towards the barn, while  I grabbed the popcorn and followed him. At the back of the barn was a large white sheet, which hung about halfway up the large barn. There was a truck parked there as well, the tailgate down, the bed filled with blankets and pillows and a projector sat on the roof

"Oh my god..." I whispered, looking around in awe

"C'mon." He grinned, guiding me to the truck

"When did you do this...? I asked, setting down the popcorn and looking up at him

"After I got off the phone with you earlier." He grinned, pushing his hair back from his face

"Well thank you, I love it." I mumbled, wrapping my arms around his neck and hugging him, his arms whinding themselves around my waist

"Good." He chuckled against my hair

"So what are we watching?" I asked, hopping up onto the tailgate

"Your favorite movie." He grinned, jumping up and walking back to the projector while I leaned against the the front portion of the truck bed

"8 Seconds!" I cheered, watching as the into rolled

"Well, I'm glad you agreed to come over tonight." He mumbled, wrapping an arm around my shoulders, while I rested my head on his chest, watching the bulls run towards the camera.
