You'll Think Of Me

Ace

We'd finished swimming and Steele was now cooking burgers over the fire we'd built earlier

"Ya know, I didn't think I'd ever find a girl who was worth quitting all the sleeping around." He mumbled, flipping the burgers

"Oh?" I asked, lying down so I was staring up at the sky

"Yeah, I mean, I'd seen you around before, and you looked hot as hell...but with a reputation like mine I doubted you'd agree if I'd asked you out." He confessed, poking the fire with a stick

"Well, I do believe I said yes, so you must've done something right." I smiled, turning my head so I was looking up at him

"Yeah, I must've." He grinned, checking the burgers before taking then off the small grill and putting them on the buns

"Thanks." I smiled, sitting up and taking one after I'd kissed him on the cheek. We ate in silence, Steele seeming to be caught up in his thoughts

"I'm gonna go to bed; night." I mumbled, kissing him softly before crawling into the tent and closing my eyes.

I sat up for about an hour after Ace went to sleep, listening to coyotes howl, and the owls screech as I thought about her. She was this girl who everybody thought was innocent, never did anything wrong. But she did. She agreed to go out with me. The whole town had warned her against it, yet she stood up for me, saying I wasn't as bad as everybody thought; which was wrong, of course. I'd fucked so many girls I'd run outta room for notches on my belt, I've smoked, I've drank for days on end, I fought, and I stole. I was bad news, but yet...she seemed to be able to pull the good in me to the surface. Since I'd started dating her, I'd hardly partied, I'd stuck to the strait and narrow and hadn't missed a day if church. She truly was good for me, and I knew I didn't deserve her. With a groan, I heaved myself to my feet before putting the fire out and walking to the tent and crawling in beside her, wrapping an arm around her waist before going to sleep.

We woke up at about noon the next day and went swimming before packing up and going back to our houses, both us having chores to do

"Thanks for this weekend, I had fun." Ace laughed as I helped her out of my truck at her house

"No problem darlin." I smiled, handing her her back pack and walking her to the door of the horse trailer to unload Molly and letting her loose in the paddock

"Well, I should go...I'll see you tomorrow." She smiled up at me, kissing me softly before walking into the house as I grinned and jumped into my truck and driving home to do my chores.

The next day I woke up and changed into a pair of daisy dukes and a pink Luckless tank top before curling my hair and skipping downstairs to the table

"Hey mom, hey daddy." I chirped, kissing both of them on the cheek before sitting down and eating the waffles on the plate in front of me

"Hey honey, you got everything ready to go?" My dad asked, glancing at me over his newspaper

"Yup, it's all in my truck." I smiled, sipping my orange juice

"8:00 baby." My mother chirped, pulling me to my feet and handing me a travel mug of coffee

"Bye daddy." I smiled, kissing his cheek before hugging my mom and walking to the door to slip my boots on "Crap!" I hissed, turning around to see my mom standing there with a grin
