"Catra?! I'm home!" Adora shouted, running through the doorway, happier then ever.
She hardly took the time to take off her shoes before fast pacing to the main room.
"Catra?" She called again, receiving no answer.
"I-I'm in the bedroom! Don't come in!" Her roommate suddenly yelled back.

That was strange.

The blonde got closer to the sliding door and leaned on it.
"Are you alright? You sound strange!" She asked worriedly.
"I'm great! Just- Just give me a moment..." the brunette shouted. She really sounded strange: the pitch, the rhythm...was she panting?
"Are you sure? I'm trained for any kind of emergencies." Adora said, before the door suddenly opened, making her jump for the surprise.
"I said I'm fine! Why are you here so early?" Catra snapped.

Her wild hair seemed messier then usual and she seemed fatigued, sweaty, her cheeks rosy...but she was wearing her pigiama, so it couldn't be some exercise.

"I- ehm...Bow's brother drove us..." she explained, even more confused and worried.

She knew Catra: pushing would have made her lash out, so she let it go.

"Well...welcome back, I guess." The brunette said, calmer then before.
"Thank you!" Adora chirped.
"Want something? I'm thirsty." The latina asked, walking to the fridge to take a wine bottle. She didn't even look for a glass, she just drank the liquid from it.
"Ehm, no, thanks...but - ehm - you know...if you feel the need to talk about something, anything...I'm here, you know? I can help..." The blonde reached out, making her frown.
"What the hell are you talking about, Adora?" She asked, making her flinch.

When the latina would use her name, she just felt like she was in trouble.

"Nothing...you just seem...different? Off?" The girl muttered.
Catra's heterocromatic eyes widened and she flushed red, a flustered mess.
"I'm fine! Just...let it go!" She snapped again.
"Ok, ok, I'm sorry..." Adora mumbled, sitting at the table.
The brunette took another long sip of wine.
"So...ehm...nice ride? Is Bow's brother bearable or is he just as much over enthusiastic?" Catra asked, trying to change both the subject and her roommate's demolished look.

Catra had stolen candies from children...but they didn't look half as upset as Adora did whenever the brunette's temper was lost...then an awful sense of guilt would invade her...and then she would just hate herself for both hurting the blondie and trying to comfort her.
Stupid toxic feelings.

"He is one of the enthusiastic brothers...but he is as smart as you! He also does that thing of the rubic cube! You guys could race each other!" Adora told, with a wide grin on her dumb face.
"Jeez, please don't tell me you told someone about the rubic cube!" Catra prayed, facepalming herself.
"Not yet, why? You rock that game!" The blonde asked puzzled.
"Because, Adora, I'm tough...and I can't be tough if you introduce me to people as a fucking nerd!" The brunette explained, raising her voice a little bit toward the end.
"Oh, right, sorry...maybe I should tell you that I have mentioned when you won the school Acadecathlon...and the spelling bee." She admitted, closing her blue eyes and grimacing, ready for her yells.
Catra just growled and cried a miserable "why?!"
"I'm sorry! I was just proud of you! I just bragged a little! And I told only to Bow and Glim...and Angella." Adora exclaimed.
"Those two will totally tell everybody..." the brunette mumbled with a sigh. "...but it's fine, dummy...just don't spread further uncool informations about me." She went on talking, to cheer her friend up.

She hated Adora's sad face.

She hated the warmth her smile provided too.

"I thought that the Rubic cube thing was cool." The blonde admitted, with a small smile.
"Uh! Whatever! I need to go to the bathroom." Catra muttered, walking to the other room.
The blu gaze of her friend followed her, untill she disappeared.
