There's a disclaimer in the story description but there is swearing so if you're sensitive to it I apologize. It's not excessive though! There is reference to a sui*de mission. It only appears once towards the end.

The era of a fractured truth.
It was an easy going day for the Fatui Harbingers. A seemingly simple day, where nobody had much planned. No moves were being made, no mission being set out. Just a day where they could recollect themselves.
Or so it was.
Nobody would've seen it coming, not until Y/N marched into The Tsaritsa's chambers, spouting about 'The future can't be changed like this.' or 'Starting war against the whole world will not make peace.'
But... let's rewind back.
The beginning of the week
The three friends were sitting around the main lobby, as they usually do. Most times, they wait to carry out plans. Since nothing had been set into motion, it was one of the most normal days in a while. Who would've assumed you'd catch some of the most feared people in Snezhnaya playing cards?
"Scara, I swear you cheated." Y/N mumbled into her hand, looking at her cards. She wasn't winning, nowhere near it in fact. She didn't even know what game they were playing. Just picking up cards and hoping they worked.
"How the hell can you cheat while playing old maid?" He retorted, turning to Signora. He picked up one of the cards towards the right of her hand and flipped it over. He smirked, seeing he found another three.
"It's not impossible. You just aren't good enough to cheat." Signora added in. She ignored his string of curses while she turned to Y/N to take cards from her hand. The one in the lead so far was her, she hadn't picked up the joker yet but something tells her Scaramouche had it.
"Go fish." Y/N blinked, staring at the card chosen.
"How many times do we have to tell you we aren't playing go fucking fish?" Scaramouche tilted his hat, making the bells jingle.
"You do say a lot for someone who's losing." Y/N shot back at him, lifting her hand so he could choose a card.
"I'm not losing!" He gripped one of the cards and flipped it over. His face didn't falter when he saw what he picked up. The joker. The rage inside him boiled, but he stayed content, hoping Signora would pick it up.
"You guys are always going down each other's throat. How do you get anything done working together?" Signora was still staring down at her cards. She took one from Scaramouche's hand leaving him with two. She didn't care what she picked up.
"Because I'm always the lead, not her. Of course I get things done." He grumbled seeing that now he really was going to lose the game.
"You? A leader? I think there's a height requirement on that title. Even with your hat you don't meet it." Y/N held back a laugh. She had just picked up one of the final cards she needed. "I win."
