PAUL STOOD OUTSIDE of Eloise's house, an undeniable look of concern written all over his face as he took over his patrol of the area after the pack found out about Bella having a vampire enter her room and the threat of newborn vampires blooming.

He could care less about the leech lover, but the thought of a vampire being so close to Eloise made Paul's blood boil and he had spent every available moment sitting on the edge of both Eloise and Bella's yards.

It was well past midnight, and Paul was nearing his final hour patrolling before Jacob was supposed to come, but Paul didn't want to leave.

Eloise's soft lips still plagued his mind, and the past week of her not talking to him was killing him inside.

He was having such a hard time expressing his emotions and trying to mend things with her, but every time he tried, he made it worse.

Paul sighed, pulling on his pants as Jacob's wolf form came bounding out of the forest.

He gave his pack member a simple nod, watching him move towards Bella's house.

Paul tried not to let his agitation get the best of him, but it was hard as the younger wolf seemed oblivious to protecting anyone but Bella Swan.

Before Paul could leave, he glanced up towards Eloise's bedroom window.

He knew it was hers by her scent and the sound of her breathing.

It was a cold night, and Paul could see part of Eloise's window cracked just enough for him to climb in and check on her.

He hesitated, trying not to let the wolf inside get the best of him., but failed miserably as he heard a slight whimper escape her lips.

Sliding open her window and climbing inside, Paul tried not to worry about how easy it was to get inside undetected.

Her room smelt just like her, and he couldn't help but savor the smell. He tried his best not to be nosey, but he couldn't help but walk over to the image hanging on her wall.

Two people, he assumed to be her parents, stood on either side of a younger Eloise as they posed between a bunch of palm trees. Each of them wearing bright smiles, and for a moment Paul felt pain in his chest at the reality of Eloise losing her parents recently.

He wished for nothing more than to wrap her up and take all of the pain away, to completely get rid of it, or to even carry it all for her.

Her whimpers continued as he grew closer to her bed, his chest tightening more and more at each sound she made and the pain it caused him.

He was almost an inch away from her bed before he noticed the wolf figurine she was clutching in her sleep. Her small hands clutching it like her life depended on it, and for a moment Paul felt his heart burst.

He recognized his Grandmother's signature work, and couldn't help but chuckle at the irony.

"P-please," Eloise cried out in her sleep.

Paul's mouth went dry, listening to her cry and mumble apologies under her breath like she was breaking from the inside out and no one was there to help her pick up the pieces.

He couldn't stop himself as he moved closer, towering over her bedframe as he fought the wolf inside him from reaching out and holding her.

She looked so broken, tears falling from her face like a stream of memories filled with nothing but pain and suffering.

He cursed under his breath, his heartbreaking repeatedly as he let his shoulders slump and his knees fall to her bedroom floor.

His large frame sat beside her bedframe as tears began to fall from his eyes without warning.

He swore off love the moment he watched his parent's marriage fall apart, vowing to never have to worry about feeling that kind of attachment to someone and letting it eat you from the inside out.

But it seemed he had no control anymore, and here he was feeling everything all at once.

He knew it was a matter of time before he fell helplessly in love with Eloise, and it terrified him.

Paul was sure she had already stolen his heart the moment she came tumbling down on him the first day they met, but at first, he just assumed he was horny and brushed it off.

It wasn't until the clearing that it made sense why his body had reacted to her so easily.

He never thought he'd see the day he imprinted on someone; let alone the day he'd be down on his knees crying about it in her room while she slept.

The angry boy was still angry, but now he was angry for her.

Angry about the hand life dealt her, and the fact he didn't know how to make it better.

Hell, he couldn't even talk to her without suffocating.

Her beautiful blue eyes were his kryptonite and every time he stared into them he lost all of his senses.

He was wild and she ethereal.

Paul didn't deserve someone so beautiful.

He was a monster, a monster with too much anger inside of him that he was terrified of one day lashing out and accidentally hurting her.

Eloise stirred in her sleep, causing Paul to pull his head away from her bed and take in a sharp breath.

Her tears were beginning to dry up, as she began to slowly relax and fall back to sleep.

Paul quietly stood up, leaning over her bed and softly placing a gentle kiss on her forehead.

She stirred once more, causing Paul to grow nervous, but relaxing as she remained asleep.

"You have no idea how hard it is not to give up my entire soul just to keep you," he whispered.

He tried not to kiss her too long, the wolf inside him melting into her touch knowing he belonged there but Paul refused to give in.

Removing his lips from her skin, he could feel the beast within him grow furious before Paul leaped out of her window and transformed as he ran off into the forest and kept running until he was far enough away to finally rest.
