"A market?"
"A fair?"
"A festival?"
The two of you tilted your heads to the side as you took in the image sprawled out before you.
Many multicoloured stalls of all sorts of things from crystals, to fresh produce, to jewellery and soap. And of course many food stalls. You looked at Porco with a grin before continuing onwards. In the distance you could see a couple of rides and sideshow games and you were determined to get Porco at least a little excited.
"Wanna go on some rides and check out some booths?" You ask, cocking your head to the side. The grin you wore told him that his answer wouldn't change the outcome so he sighed and nodded. You frowned at him and let go of his hand.
"Hey we don't have to if you don't want to. We can just go home. I just thought something like this would put you in better spirits." You force a small smile. Porco stared at you for a moment, making you feel awkward and confused before he grabbed your hand and dragged you to the big roller coaster you were heading towards.
"Two tickets please." Porco slapped some cash down on the counter, making the worker shudder in fear. Your eyes widened before you smiled as Porco pocketed the change and handed you a ticket. With you waving apologetically to the man at the booth, the two of you walked to the small line of people.
It wasn't exactly a long wait, but it was enough to make Porco annoyed. You pursed your lips and patted his arm.
"Try and relax a little Pock. It can't be good for you to be this tightly strung." You murmured, looking forwards. He looked at you eyebrows furrowed and mouth open to say something but instead was cut short by the glance you gave him. He sighed and just then the conductor person opened the gates for people to get on. Entering through, you showed him your tickets and placed your stuff in a little locker.
"Man it'd be so easy to steal some of this stuff."
"I know right. Look that chick there just put her purse in. Wanna grab on the way out?" Porco heard two teens behind him converse, pointing at your back. He turned glared at them, making them yelp.
"Try it. I dare you." He growled. They backed off, almost soiling their pants.
"Hmm? What was that?" You asked, completely oblivious as to what happened. Porco huffed and gently pushed you to get on.
"Don't worry about it." You shrugged and billed yourself in to allow the conductor to lower the bar. After the tedious explanation and safety warnings the worker blabbered on about, the ride finally started. It wasn't a big roller coaster but there were some steep drops and you were extremely excited.
As it climbed the first hill Porco looked at you. You hair messed up by the wind and your eyes shining with excitement as you looked at the world from a high up view. His attention then turned to the ocean, which he could see clearly from that height. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, maybe a little too harshly, but the ocean was a deep glittering blue, there were barely any clouds and he was plummeting towards the ground.
His eyes widened against the rushing wind as his stomach dropped. He didn't even see it coming as he was too caught up in the beautiful scenery. Next to him you sat there, arms up and a grin stretched widely across your face. When the shock wore off he allowed himself to enjoy the ride.
Getting off you stumbled, legs still jelly from the ride. You laughed as you watched Porco's attempts to walk in a straight line. The two of you spent time wandering from stalk to stall, admiring trinkets and other things being sold.
"Hey do you like the smell of this one?" You asked, holding up a bat of soap to his nose.
"Strawberries and Cream?" He asked smelling it. You nodded excitedly.
"I've always wanted to smell like that." You laughed. Porco rolled his eyes and smiled. "Hey I think this one would suit you." You held up a coffee scented soap and Porco picket it up and gave it a sniff.
"Hm, yeah I like it." He murmured. You chuckled and turned to the stall owner. "Just the two thanks." You said, handing him some money. He nodded and put the two soaps in paper bags and handed you the change.
"Thank you have a good day!" You called out as you and Porco walked away. Sniffing the soaps as you walked, you realised Porco had stopped a little ways behind you. You turned to find him at a little jewellery stall.
"Whatcha looking at?" You ask, startling him. He looked away before pointing hesitantly at a couple of rings.
"Friendship jewellery?" You ask the stall owner. She nodded with a smile.
"We have group stuff two. Or maybe the two of you would like to look at the couple's selection?" She said with a wink. You laughed and waved your hands around.
"No it's not like that-"
"Yeah we'll have a look." Porco cut you off, surprising you with his words.
"Sure! Here you go!" She gestured to a tray she pulled out and stepped back.
"Thanks." Porco muttered, looking down to the selection.
"Oh!" You exclaimed softly, admiring the intricate jewellery. They weren't cringy over-the-top couple jewellery but rather genuinely cute designs.
"Twin compasses?" Porco asked, picking one up and studying it.
"Yeah! No matter what, they'll always point to each other. Pretty neat, huh?" The shop owner laughed. "Go on! Give it a go an walk away with it."
You picked the small compass up carefully and walked in the opposite direction. You looked at the compass, back still to Porco to find it pointing straight at him. Wanting to test it even more, you started to walk around, only to find that it pointed straight back to him.
"That's so cool!" You gushed, walking back over. Your eyes fell down to the compass in your hand that started pointed to the man next to you and you smiled softly to yourself.
"I'll take them." Porco said, slamming the money down on the counter. The lady grinned and took the money, handing him back some change.
"Wait a moment!" You interjected, only to be ignored.
"Would you like the chains to go with them? I'll give them to you free of charge."
"Yeah. I have a feeling they'd get lost easily if we didn't."
"I get that. Oh also, they're water resistant, but you gotta make sure they dry properly."
.
.
.A few words later, you were holding your mini compass necklace, staring at it in disbelief.
You walked alongside Porco the sun going down and painting the ocean in gorgeous hues of orange and pink.
"Why?" You managed to choke out after a long and rather stifling silence. Porco sighed as if he was relieved that you had finally asked. He stopped walking to turn around and look at you. In that moment you couldn't help but admire the was he looked, basking in the rays of the setting sun.
"I guess this is my way of saying thank you. I don't believe in fate or whatever crap but I feel like this road trip was so I could meet you or something. I guess I'm saying that I've found you."
He looked frustrated as if he couldn't exactly put what he wanted into words and your head spun.
"I know it's insane and stupid and I've only met you... thirteen days ago but I'm glad I did." You smile, shocking him with your words. "I believe it was meant to be." You giggled.
His face was pink, maybe it was the illusion of the sunset but it was a sight to behold.
The two of you stood there, staring at each other as the spoken and unspoken words hung heavy in the air.
"Okay whatever let's go." Porco grumbled and walked off, ears a bright red. You were sure that your face matched but instead you snickered and followed after him, compass in hand.
