Chapter 31

-Emiko POV-

"All right, let's go!" shouted Hyuga when the game was about to start again.
"Kiyoshi-senpai, Kagami-kun" said Tetsuya. "Murasakibara-kun and Himuro-kun are both strong. But I don't think you'll lose to them. Go give it to them"

He held out his fists and I smiled.
"Of course we will" said Kagami.
"Give it to them, huh? Sounds good" said Kiyoshi and they returned Tetsuya's fist bump.
"Leave it to us!" they both shouted.

A triangle-2 defence... the other team was unaffected by our strategy.
'Quite a smart coach'
They passed to Himuro and I froze.

His expression was determined...
We were all watching closely.
'Here he comes'

He did a perfect fake... Kagami jumped and he passed him easily.
And when Hyuga came to block, Himuro stopped and did a perfect jump shot.
"What the actual hell" I whispered.

"I can't believe the captain and Kagami couldn't react at all" said Furihata.
"What kind of trick is he using?" asked Fukuda.
"He's not doing anything" said Riko.

"What?" said the first years.
"He simply stopped and made a jump shot" explained Riko. "However, because he transitioned so smoothly, neither of them noticed him enter his shooting motion. It's an incredibly ordinary play, but each element is of the highest quality"

"He's the exact opposite of the formless Aomine" I said. "He adheres strictly to orthodox methods. It's like a refined dance. It's preformed so perfectly, it actually pisses me off"
"To be honest, it doesn't take much to piss you off" said Tetsuya.
"I know" I sighed. "You know me too well, Tetsu"

Himuro was giving it all he got.
'What's the trick behind that annoying Mirage Shot?'
Coach subbed out Kagami for Tsuchida for a while.

Kiyoshi shot a perfect three, making Murasakibara believe he could do it again.
Making Murasakibara jump and making Kiyoshi pass.
We did this strategy a few times and it worked.
We were scoring a lot more and I smiled.

Yosen took a time-out when we were 1 digit away.
"Kiyoshi-senpai" I said and gave him a towel.
'He's sweating way too much...'

"Thank you, Maeda" he said and I nodded.
"Maeda" said Kagami suddenly.
"Hm?" I asked.

"I need a favour" he said and I frowned. "Could you go throw this out?"
He gave me the ring he shared with Himuro.
"Are you sure?" I asked. "Isn't this an important memento?"

"It's fine" he said. "Keeping it only makes it harder to let go. Besides, between my past with Tatsuya and my future with Kuroko. It's obvious which is more important"
I smiled and looked at Tetsuya.

Kagami went back onto the field.
"Kagami..." said Furihata.
"Please" said Fukuda.

"It's okay" said Tetsuya. "No one can beat Kagami-kun now"
Himuro went for fake after fake...
But Kagami saw through it and managed to block a shot.

He went to the basket and jumped.
"Kagami-kun!" shouted Tetsuya and I saw Kagami do something.
'Heh?'

But Murasakibara blocked it.
Tetsuya noticed it too.

When the game began again, they triple-teamed Kiyoshi.
"Really?" I said annoyed.
After Kiyoshi dunked I noticed that something was wrong.

I ran onto the field and caught Kiyoshi just in time.
"Kiyoshi-senpai" I said and I looked at the referee.
"Referee time out!" shouted the referee and I nodded in thanks.

"Sorry, Maeda" said Kiyoshi. "I just tripped and fell dramatically. Don't worry about me"
"Teppei, are you really...?" began Riko.
"I'm fine. Let me play" said Kiyoshi and walked to her. "Please. We've finally made a dent. I don't want to interrupt this flow. I can keep playing. Let's all win together!"

He continued playing...
But him continuing playing, made the others play better.
We were all shouting.

"You can do it! You can do it, guys!" shouted Tetsuya.
"Tetsu" I whispered, I touched his arm and I was looking at Murasakibara.
"I can't take it anymore" I heard Murasakibara say. "It's so disgusting I could puke. Watching you squirm, that is"

Tetsuya held my hand, seeing Murasakibara play on offence was scary...
"Murasakibara's on offence?" asked Fukuda.
"I thought he only played defence" said Koganei.

"Murasakibara-kun is one of the more combative members of the Generation of Miracles" said Tetsuya. "While he has little interest in basketball and finds it annoying, he's actually better on offence. In games like this that have incurred his wrath, he's been known to score a record hundred points in a single game"

"A hundred?" said the first years with disbelief.
Three people couldn't stop Murasakibara...
He dunked hard...

We thought we could get away with a fast break, but Murasakibara's legs were long, so he passed that in an instant.
Kiyoshi as a point guard was defeated.

Murasakibara went for the hoop again and dunked hard over Kagami.
'You're kidding...'
The hoop began to fall...

"Kagami! Move!" I screamed.
He moved just in time...
I sat back down, my heart was racing...

"Emiko?" said Tetsuya and touched my shoulder.
"I'll be fine" I said. "It's just a bit much..."
"D-Due to the broken hoop, the game will be put on hold until it can be replaced!" announced the referee.

The game began again and Murasakibara was playing too well...
He blocked Kiyoshi immeadiatly.
When Kiyoshi went for the ball, Murasakibara jumped behind him and used Kiyoshi's special skill.
When Murasakibara jumped over Kagami and Kiyoshi and dunked, Kiyoshi was on the ground...

-Akashi POV-

Atsushi pulled Kiyoshi up by the arm.
I saw Emiko getting angry...
She was angry, really angry, the face all of the Generation of Miracles feared.

"Murasakibara!" she shouted in anger and I saw Murasakibara flinch.
'She hasn't changed one bit' I smiled.
"Let him go this instant!" she shouted.

"I just helped him up, Mae-chin" said Murasakibara.
"Helped him up, my ass" said Emiko and caught her senpai.
"Seirin, member change!" announced the referee.
She carried her senpai to the bench, Tetsuya came onto the court in his place.

-Emiko POV-

"Tetsu" I said and he nodded.
He knew what I meant, and I knew, he would do anything to beat Murasakibara.
Tetsuya began with his Vanishing Drive and then his Phantom Shot.

But it wasn't a shot, it was a pass, which made us score.
"Kagami! Don't even try to break the hoop!" I scolded him from the bench.

This time Tetsuya blocked Murasakibara.
But he used his lack of presence, to make Murasakibara foul.

"Let's go! New formation!" shouted Hyuga.
I smiled, it was a formation where the marks constantly changes.
Which makes it easier for Tetsuya to steal the ball.

He stole the ball and scored.
"Yes! Tetsuya!" I shouted and jumped.
Izuki scored but the referee didn't let the basket count.
"We will now take a two minute break" said the referee.

"Running a full-court defence is rough" said Izuki. "Can we last until the end of the game?"
"We'll make it last" said Hyuga.
"But I can't imagine that Yosen won't try anything" said Riko.

"Coach, about that" said Kagami. "Once they break through our full court defence and move to a half-court game, let's run a 2-3 zone with me in the middle"
"The same formation as Yosen?" I asked.

"Like Murasakibara, I'll cover the entire two point area" he said.
"You can do that?" asked Koganei.
"No matter who comes, I'll stop them" said Kagami. "For Kiyoshi-senpai"

"Got it" said Riko to my surprise. "In the fourth quarter, we'll run the Stealth Man-to-Man Full-Court and a 2-3 zone half-court"
I began to make sure the others were cooled down a bit before the last quarter.

"Why are you crying?" I heard Hyuga ask Kiyoshi.
"Teppei?" asked Riko.
"Oh, this is..." began Kiyoshi. "Why am I crying?"

"That's what I'd like to know!" shouted Hyuga.
"I don't know how to put it, but it's probably... you guys seem so reliable. I'm relieved" said Kiyoshi. "When I realized I wasn't alone, I couldn't help myself"

"What? Why are you stating the obvious now?" asked Hyuga. "I'm actually kind of pissed!"
"Sorry. Honestly, I'm angry too" said Kagami.
"Me too" said Tetsuya.

"Koganei-senpai, could you get my beating stick out of my bag?" I asked.
"Huh? Did you really put..." said Koganei and searched through my bag. "You did?!"
"Hey! This isn't the time for that!" said Riko.

When the game began again, Tetsuya spoke to the group.
"Why don't we form a circle again?" he asked. "In some ways, I think Murasakibara was right when he said basketball isn't fair. However, basketball isn't a game you play alone. I want to win together, and I believe we can do it"

"Okay, then" said Hyuga. "Let's go! Seirin, Fight!"
"Riko, I really do think basketball is fun" said Kiyoshi when the game began. "I'm glad I play"
"Where did that come from?" asked Riko.

"So I'm sorry" he said. "This is the last time. I need a favour. I want to play"
"What? Kiyoshi, are you serious?" asked Koganei.
"Yeah. The last two... no, one minute is enough" said Kiyoshi. "I have to play"

"You're going back in?" asked Koganei.
"You can't do something so reckless!" said Tsuchida.
I looked at Riko and she nodded.

"Fine" she said.
"What? Coach?" said Koganei.
"Are you sure, Riko?" asked Kiyoshi.

"What are you talking about?" said Riko. "Even if I tried to stop you, you'd force your way in"
"Don't worry" I said. "I can get him playable in time. It will hurt. Give me three minutes"

-Akashi POV-

I saw Emiko go with her senpai to the medical office.
She was up to something.
The game took an interesting turn.
The red haired, Kagami, was trying to get into the Zone, like the game against Daiki.
'Not the smartest idea'
