Only time can outrun death

The boy was inhumanely beautiful.

He stood above the entire crowd his crown shining above his head and his sceptre raised in his hand.Above him a huge storm was brewing, one that was whipping his hair all around his face hiding it from her sight.

And yet she knew that his beauty was measured in likes she had never seen before.

Around him the Earth shook, the sky tore itself apart and everyone ran to seek shelter.

But she stood there and watched.

The storm became worse, tearing the air apart with rain and lightning but she stood there watching, watching as the boy tore apart the world.

Run.

The boy hadn't moved even slightly but she didn't have to guess that he had said it. She would have known his voice anywhere.

I will not let you suffer for my sins.

The girl took a step forward then another and then another. The boy didn't take his eyes of the sky but she could feel his panic rise, not for himself but her.

I cannot lose you, I'm sorry love.

Before she can take another step forward the Earth groans underneath her and she falls into a bottomless pit of black.

A millennia later, Aubrey woke up in cold sweat.
