The Outer Banks did not receive a lot of rainy days. Sure, you have a storm every now and then, but otherwise it was sunny.

Today was sunny. Today was very sunny. You could feel sweat beginning to accumulate on your back causing your shirt to stick to your skin.

"Why do we have to go here?" JJ whined like a little kid as you dragged him up the steps to an art gallery that you'd been wanting to visit.

Well, it was kind of an art gallery.

Okay, it was more like a hut than anything filled with mediocre, if not random, pieces of art, but the flyer had looked very promising.

"This is the only place left with a working air conditioner and I'm about to pass out from the heat," you groaned, your heels pressing further into the ground with each step you took.

The walk was not one you would normally commit to, but after the Wreck's air conditioner had broken, there wasn't much of a choice left.

JJ pulled you back before you could reach the doors, raising an eyebrow at you, "We could always go surfing. The water will cool us down."

You exhale, suddenly thirsty at the mention of water. "But I want to spend time with you," you sigh. "When we're surfing, we're so far apart."

He seems to stare at you for way too long before giving in and with great pleasure, you walk into the gallery (it's really just a fancy shack), and let yourself bathe in the cool air.

It doesn't take long to pay for entry—mainly because there's few people to be found inside.

"This place is . . . just fantastic," JJ says sarcastically, a playful little grin on his face as he looks around.

The gallery was comprised of three large rooms, all filled with various paintings and sculptures of course.

Rolling your eyes, you take a step in front of him. "It is nice," you say and honestly, it wasn't all bad. "And besides, there's no such thing as bad art."

"I've seen you draw."

"Moving on," you interrupt before he can continue and you walk further into the gallery.

JJ would never be able to get you to admit this, but the majority of the paintings were subpar at best and a select few weren't even finished.

"Maybe it's meant to be like that?" You said when JJ felt a need to point this out to you.

"That sounds like more of a question than a statement," he replied, tilting his head to the side to take a better look at the piece on the wall.

The sculptures were definitely a sight, at least. Most of them looked old and there were a couple that seemed to have been chipped or maybe missing a piece.

Though, your favourite painting was really kept at the back of the gallery. It was still as painfully horrible as the rest, but also amusing in some unexplainable way.

"Thoughts?" You ask JJ out of nowhere. You both stand in front of the piece, arms crossed, studying it with such a pretend intensity.
