Chapter 14: The Start of a Preposterous Argument

"Kay, honey, it's rude to gawk at house guests." My aunt reprimanded me.

I all but glared at the freak in front of me who had the nerve to smirk.

"It's fine Mrs. Nightingale. Kay must be shocked of my presence." He politely told my aunt. Okay, understatement of the year.

"C-can we talk..?" I half hissed, half shouted at George.

Before he could reply, Aunt Yasmin cut him off. "You too can talk later. Dinner is waiting."

"I'm not hungry, auntie."

"No excuses, Kay Nicole Nightingale. George has had a long travel and I prepared dinner. So you eat."

I groaned. Can this day get any worse?

My oh-so-clueless aunt ushered us to the dining area while she chatted with George, who was in his perfect polite awesome self, the complete opposite of how he acted the last time we saw each other.

"So how is your mother dear? Haven't heard from her." My aunt continued talking with him. Seriously, I was beyond confused.

"Oh, my mom's fine. The firm's going well. She's been busy lately because she's taking care of everything dad left." He answered. George's dad left for Paris for a case he needed to work on. His parents were both lawyers.

"That's hectic, I suppose. Anyway, not to sound rude or anything, but why did you join us tonight, George." Auntie asked. I could ask the same thing.

I continued poking the lettuce beside the beef as I waited for George to reply. I felt his gaze on me then he cleared his throat.

"I'm actually here to win Kay back."

What the eff?

"What?!" My aunt and I said at the same time, although her tone was filled with confusion whereas mine was oozing with disbelief and incredulity.

"What do you mean win her back? You're like, together." Aunt Yasmin clarified.

Oh. My. Gosh. Fudgecakes.

"Didn't she tell you?" George retained a rather confused and innocent look as he stared at me. F*ck you, great pretender. Seriously, I could feel the hidden smirk and mockery.

"Is there something you want to say, young lady?" My aunt raised her voice.

Damn. "Can we talk?" I asked her.

"I'll leave you two alone. " George said as he excused himself and went to the living room.

"Kay?"

"Okay, okay. I broke up with George almost a week ago, aunt Yas. "

"You what?"

"We're not for each other, okay?"

"And you didn't care to inform me, because?"

"Because you wouldn't treat me with all rainbows and gummy bears. Seriously, it was like you loved him more than me."

"And you concluded that because?"

Okay, seriously I'm being fed up. "Because, that's the reality, Aunt Yas."
