The folders fell to the floor with a clatter, causing the young man at the counter to literally jump. His eyes flew to the side and looked at the shocked expression on the face of the newly graduated probationary psychologist Kang Taehyun. "Damn it!" the latter groaned from clenched teeth, kneeling down and picking up the documents again with trembling fingers.
"Is everything okay?" the black-haired worker asked, sliding off his chair to help the now 24-year-old Taehyun, but he just waved it off nervously.
"A-all fine."
There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. For half a year he had managed to avoid Choi Yeonjun, had managed to ignore the countless messages not only from him, but also from Beomgyu, only for him to then appear before his like Djinn from the magic lamp. His heart was beating up to his throat, wanted to literally jump out of it. The pressure behind his eyes made him aware that he was about to burst into tears if he didn't get out of here immediately. So he picked up the folders and documents from the floor and put them on his colleague's desk.
"Bogum, would you be so kind and pass this on to Dr. Kim? I'm going to sign out for today, my circulation isn't playing along today. I don't feel well," he let his colleague know and the man nodded perplexedly in response.
After that, Taehyun turned on his heel and went back down the hall, knowing that he had exactly one hour to disappear. That's how long the conversation would take with Yeonjun, and he couldn't risk being seen by him.
In the private area, he grabbed his jacket, slipped into it, and changed from his work shoes into his street shoes. He gave a quick farewell to some of his colleagues and also waved once more to Bogum at the counter before the Kang literally took his legs in his hands. He fished his phone out of his jacket pocket and dialed the first number he had dialed constantly for the past few months.
The calm voice on the other end of the line immediately spoke up, "What's up?"
"On my way home. Need company," Taehyun brought out breathing heavily, keeping his legs in a run as if the devil was after him. And that's how he felt.
