Phil's POV
I went downstairs to start making dinner. Techno walked in. His stomach and arms covered in bruises.
"What happened Techno?"
"They were looking through their file. I don't know why. I think they were originally looking for their phone but then ended up looking through their file instead. I was standing at your bedroom door watching them and the only thing I said to them was "Having fun there." I never said anything else. I never moved from the doorway. But then they screamed and started heading through to their room but it was like they were being dragged by something. The got to their room and their door shut. They started pounding on the door saying to let them out. I was trying their door handle but it seemed to be blocked by something. Then they must've climbed out their window and went through the front door and ran upstairs started beating the shit out of me thinking it was me who locked them in their room. I have no idea what happened, if it was a flashback or they were hallucinating or what."
"Thanks Techno. They would've been exhausted after today. After all the trouble they've caused you could say."
"Yeah. I will admit even I'm a bit exhausted after chasing after them today."
"Yeah no wonder."
I dished out dinner and kept a plate aside for y/n incase they got hungry later. I shouted the boys down to come get their food. We were sitting eating peacefully just as usual when Wilbur came down the stairs.
"What the hell was all that about?" He said confused. He must've heard the commotion.
"Y/n had a breakdown. Thanks for the help Wilbur." Techno said his voice shaking but he rolled his eyes at Wilbur.
"You could've called for help." Wilbur muttered under his breath.
"Boys stop. Its sorted now there's no need for arguing." This wasn't the time for the boys to start.
"You know they were pretty shook up after you yelling at them." Wilbur said passive aggressively glaring at me.
"Yeah Wilbur I know. I didn't mean it."
He shot me a glare before digging into his food.
"Is y/n ok?" Tubbo whispered quietly. He was worried and understandably confused.
"Yes Tubbo, they are ok. They are just stressed from their first day at the new school." I whispered back to Tubbo. He looked disheartened but he didn't say anything more about it.
We all started eating. I was thinking about the school arrangements. We can't have this kind of stuff happening every time y/n has a bad day. If sending them back to Ahs makes them happy then maybe I should. But then Jack's words kept echoing around in my head "don't give in, don't give in, don't give in."
"Wilbur, Techno?"
"Yes Dad."
"What do you guys think about sending y/n back to Ahs?"
I wanted an opinion from the boys as well so I would know if I was going crazy or not.
"Well I mean I don't think we should give in just after 1 day. If the behaviour continues the way it's going then Ahs might be the best possibility."
Wilbur stated proudly with determination in his voice.
"I mean I used to be a little shit at St Paul's and look at where I am now. 6th form, pursuing a career in music, got 10 GCSE'S. I'm happy with where I am.""Everyone is different though Wilbur. Y/n will just continue behaving badly until they either get chucked out the school or Phil pulls them out and if they get kicked out it will go on their permanent record which could effect them getting into college in the future. They have been to Ahs their whole secondary school life so why potentially jeprodise their whole education by sending them to a school they don't want to be at and a school that we know they are going to get kicked out of. Ahs is only across the road from St Paul's so its not like it'd make that much of a difference. Just because we realised how much our education would be in shit if we continued the way we were doesn't mean y/n will."
Techno had a point. Why should I jeprodise y/n's chances of getting into college, getting any GCSE'S, being extremely unhappy etc when I can send them back to Ahs and it meant they would be happier, have better chance of getting qualifications, improvement in behaviour etc.
"Wilbur, Techno does have a point. Why should we put y/n's education and happiness at risk when it isn't that much trouble to send them back to Ahs. It'd cost me less in school fees as well which means we'd have more money to do stuff as a family."
"Maybe you should phone Jack for advice Dad. He would know best on how to deal stuff like this." Wilbur said.
"Good idea Wilbur. I'm going to see if y/n wants a day off tommorow cause they are exhausted and I'll talk to them about it and see what they want."
~ Time Skip ~
I waited a few hours and went to phone Jack. I was debating it but no one knew y/n better than Jack so I'd thought it'd be worth a shot.
I picked up my phone and dialled Jack's number.
"Hello, (insert town) orphanage. Jack Manifold speaking."
"Hi Jack it's Philza. I was looking for some advice."
"Hi Phil. How's y/n doing. Are they settling in ok?"
"Well they've settled in at the house but school is a different story. They flipped off all their teachers on the first day, ran away from the headmaster, turned up in the wrong uniform, spoke back to teachers, left the school premises and got sent out of nearly all of their classes. When they got home they had a breakdown I think it was just through exhaustion. I was wondering if there's anything I can do to try help them settle in at school. Or to try improve their behaviour. I was debating about sending them back to Ahs if it means they will be happier but your words that you said to me on the day i fostered them "don't give in" kept echoing around in my head. I wanted your advice because you know y/n best."
"Oh god Phil. I've never known them to be that bad when starting at a new school. My advice would be to be gentle with them and try find out what's causing the behaviour but at the same time let them know that there's always consequences for their actions In the past sometimes all they needed was to open up about stuff. Just let them know that you're there to talk to even if they don't want to speak at first. In terms of sending them back to Ahs that's up to you guys but if it makes them happier and will improve their behaviour then yes I'd send them back. It's not going to be worth the extra hassle it's going to cause."
"Thanks Jack. I grounded them and took away their phone and xbox but I now realise how wrong it was of me to do that. I yelled at them as well which I regret deeply because I could see the fear on their face."
"Never ever yell at y/n. It will just cause them to lose trust in you. Grounding them well that's you're choice if that's the way that it works in your house then just carry on but it never worked in the orphanage. It would just cause them to rebel more. Treat them the same you would the boys. They have said in the past they don't like it if they get treated worse/better than the other kids if they are at a new home."
"Thanks for the advice Jack. I'll sort stuff out with them tommorow and talk to them about what they want."
"Thanks for coming to me Phil. Keep me updated about how things go."
"Yeah no problem. Bye."
"Bye."
So that was that. I'll sort things out with y/n tommorow and talk to them to see what they want. I felt so bad about yelling at them. I needed a way to make it up to them...
