"okay well I'll see you tonight?" you said walking alongside your best friend, Levi Akerman. you had met him when you were six and he was eight.

you had gotten yourself into trouble with some older kids and was about to get your ass kicked until he showed up and saved you.

after that you were inseparable, you knew him in a way that no one else did. over time your feelings for him ran a little deeper than just friendship but you would never admit it because he was the only friend you ever had and you didn't want him to leave you.

"yeah I just have some things I need to take care of but I'll catch you later" he replied as we went our separate ways but he never did come back.

it had been three days now and you hadn't left the window as you watched and waited hoping that he would show up

you were heart broken, had you done something wrong? had he gotten bored of you? you couldn't bring yourself to blame him. you blamed yourself

but over the span of two years your sadness had turned into anger and you realized it wasn't you, it was him, he promised he would always be there for you and he broke that promise.

since you had never really gotten over him, you refused to let anyone close to you after that, not that many people had tried, you were left all alone to wallow in your own misery

until one day you over heard a bunch of people talking and what really caught your attention was because you had over heard Levi's name

so without hesitation you approached them and asked what they were talking about and they told you about how Levi had joined the scouts and was dibbed humanities strongest.

you felt your blood boil, so that's where that bastard had ran off to, he could have at least told you, you probably would have went with him.

joining the cadets would be your only chance of getting to him so after a lot of thought and consideration you decided to go through with it. it wouldn't be so hard since Levi had already taught you how to fight.

after joining surprisingly you had actually made a few friends, Eren, Armin and Mikasa but you never told them your reasons for joining, whenever they did ask you just shrugged and used the ocean as an excuse.

not that you didn't want to see it, you did but that wasn't your motivation.

those three years felt like the longest of your life but the day had finally came, you graduated top of the class and were an official scout. finally, you would make that back stabbing asshole pay

you all rode to HQ on horse back and lined up outside to be inspected and placed into squads. your heart was racing as you watched everyone, searching for him

the breath was sucked out your lungs when you finally did spot him, standing next to a girl with glasses and a tall man with blonde hair

the initial shock soon wore of and you let out a growl as you clenched your fists so hard your knuckles were turning white

"(y/n) are you okay?" Armin asked with concern as he placed his hand on my shoulder, I shrugged him off and stormed towards Levi with fury in my eyes

as you got closer he turned towards you and had to do a double take, his eyes widened and his mouth hung open. "(y/n)?! w-"

you punched him straight in the jaw, knocking him to the ground and as he went to stand back up you kicked him in the stomach, sending him crashing back down again. everything was now silent.

he looked up at you with guilt as he wiped some blood off his lip. "HOW COULD YOU LEVI?! how could you just leave me behind like I was some sort of unwanted toy?! you made a promise! you were all I had!" you cried with tears brimming your eyes, getting ready to kick him again but Mikasa and Eren managed to grab and pull you back before you could

they were hardly able to keep a hold of you as you thrashed and kicked to get free. "it's okay, let her go. I deserve it" Levi said, catching everyone off guard, even you.

you immediately stopped struggling as your anger subsided into sadness.

as he approached you the tears that you had been holding back finally spilled. he sighed and wrapped his arms around you, you chocked back a sob and snuggled into the crook of his neck "I'm so sorry (y/n)"

you pulled away now scowling as you wiped your tears. "sorry isn't good enough, there wasn't a single day that went by that I didn't think about you, hoping you'd come back, I had no one, you forgot me.." you said, your voice cracking throughout

"Come with me, we can talk inside" he replied softly, taking my hand in his. I let out a defeated sigh and followed him, to say the tension was thick would be an understatement.

he led me down a bunch of hall ways and into a room I assumed was his office. we stood there in silence for a few moments until he spoke up. "you've changed a lot"

"so have you" I replied barley above a whisper. "I thought about you all the time too (y/n), I could never forget about you" he said with guilt as he sat down at his desk chair.

I walked towards him and without even thinking I sat down on his lap and began to cry again into the crook of his neck, he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me in closer, resting his chin on my shoulder

"did you ever plan on coming back for me?" I asked, pulling away to look at him. "I did about a year ago but I couldn't find you. it's still not an excuse though, I shouldn't have waited four years to go back for you" he sighed, resting his forehead on mine

"I felt terrible about the way I just left you, you didn't deserve it, you were the only one who stuck by me since day one and I abandoned you, I don't expect you to forgive me" he continued with tears brimming his own eyes

My eyes widened as looked into his eyes only seeing nothing but absolute sincerity. "It'll take some time Levi but I'm willing to give you a chance" I replied with a small smile

the next thing I knew his lips were on mine and I melted into it without hesitation, wrapping my arms around his neck, it was so passionate and full of love I felt my heart swelling inside my chest.

we pulled apart breathless, gazing into each other's eyes. "I love you (y/n), my heart belongs to you and you only"

I felt more tears brim my eyes but these were tears of joy.

"I love you too Levi, I always have"
