Chapter 18

Omniscient

Aniyah walked into the apartment the morning after Thanksgiving with tears streaming down her face.

She kept thinking about why she kept receiving bad karma. Her love life would go well, and then boom, everything falls apart.

She wondered why she couldn't just have an easy life. Why does she have to bear the worst?

It's been a week since Aniyah came back from Thanksgiving and Jay was worried about her. She noticed Aniyah was becoming distant.

She called Sean and Geovoni, but since Geovoni was still mad at her, it took a lot of convincing, little did Aniyah know, Geovoni also had secrets he'd rather keep on the low.

"Is she okay?" Geovoni asked Jay when he pulled up to the building.

"No nigga that's why I called you here" Jay rolled her eyes.

"Sean said he's tied up in traffic and he will be here in ten minutes."

Jay nodded her head.

They Both took the elevator up to the top floor, meanwhile, RaShawn was waiting for her to open the door.

"Hey man are you sure you got the right door number?" Geovoni gave RaShawn a skeptical look.

"This is the exact apartment number she texted me," Rashawn told him.

"Exactly who are y-"

"Wait so Aniyah texted you and blew me off" Jay scoffed and RaShawn furrowed his eyebrows.

"Who are you guys again?" RaShawn asked.

"You must be her mystery boyfriend," Jay came to a realization. "I'm Jaylin, her best friend." she shook his hand.

RaShawn chuckled.

"I wouldn't say mystery because we have been dating for two months now"

"You don't seem like her type" Geovoni muttered and RaShawn gave him a once-over look.

"RaShawn Jackson" he held his hand out for him to shake, but Geovoni kept his hands in his front pockets.

Geovoni knew he couldn't compete with him. He looked older and more put together than he was in his life and knew that he could give her everything she ever wanted.

"Is everything ok?" Kayla looked between all of them.

"We ain't here for you," Jaylin pushed past her to enter the apartment with Rashawn following behind her.

Before Geovoni could step into the apartment, Kayla stepped out closing the door behind her.

"I missed you, baby. I knew you would come to your senses," she said, wrapping her arms around his neck.

Kayla wanted a peck on the lips, but he dodged it and removed her arms from around his neck.

"I'm not in the mood" Geovoni clenched his jaw.

"Well, you were sure in the mood on Thanksgiving" Kayla folded her arms across her chest.

"We were both lonely and it was a mistake"

"C'mon baby why are you acting this way?" Kayla cooed, snaking her arms around his waist.

"We're done aii" Geovoni pushed her off him and went inside the apartment.

He stopped in his tracks, clenched his jaw, and balled up his fists when he saw Aniyah and RaShawn sharing a mutual kiss in the middle of the living room.

He didn't even know why he came because Aniyah seemed to be more than okay with her lover here.

"Here you go baby" RaShawn handed Aniyah the flowers and the gift he got for her.

"Yes you did say you had a surprise for me when you got back" she smiled.

"Open it later on your own time. It's very private" he said, which caused Aniyah to smirk at him.

"What are you guys doing here? I only invited RaShawn" Aniyah's eyes shuffled between Jaylin and Geovoni.

"You haven't exactly spoken to me, your best friend, in a week," Jay said with concern on her face.

"I don't see why I gotta talk to you every day" Aniyah shot back and Jaylin jerked her head back in surprise.

"Girl I know you ain't serious right now" Jaylin chuckled.

Aniyah looked Jaylin dead in the eyes.

"If you just gon choose a nigga you just met over me who's been by your side for years, good luck" Jaylin dry laughed exiting the apartment.

"Looks like you're busy so I'm a head out" Geovoni glared at RaShawn before exiting the apartment as well.

"Aniyah baby, why are you blowing off your friends?" RaShawn had a concerned look on his face.

"I'm fine," Aniyah said knowing she was one hundred percent not okay.

She doesn't think she'll ever be okay after what happened with Kyrell on Thanksgiving.

She doesn't even trust the outdoors because there's a possibility of him finding her again. Once her toxic ex has been removed from her life that's when she'll be able to live a peaceful life. For now, she has to be cautious and on the lookout at all times.

How could she even tell her friends that she was in danger and that she needed help when she had trouble opening up to people?

"Can we cuddle?" Aniyah asked feeling extremely exhausted and drained. She hasn't slept for days and barely eaten a snack.

"Of course we can baby"

RaShawn has been the only thing going right in her life and he's taken her mind off things lately, but will her distraction last forever?
