Chapter 25 - Very close

Red Velvet carried the small cookie on his back, a small shadow of a cake following him, as he snuck around. The Portal to the castle was wide open, but he was unsure of who was really watching. His job was to scout the area, check for guards of either side.

Both You and Custard had began to fall ill once more, the color fading and your energy depleted. The potion had worn off, and now you were running out of time. Nevertheless you kept pushing.

You were able to find a spot to keep the horses in the abandoned village Black Rasin spoke off. There, you left the horses and carrier, only taking what you needed. Pancake cookie lent you a hand, carrying what he could and trying to keep up.

The two groups met up, ready to depart to the floating lands.

"Are you ready?" Red Velvet asked, for what felt like the 500th time already. You rolled your eyes playfully, bringing your hand up to his face, caressing it gently.

"You worry to much, lets just get this over with." You said weakly, before turning to run onto the portal. Red Velvet, with Custard still on his back, followed after, Pancake chasing after the two.

You five jumped on at the same time, you almost collapsed with jelly legs, a weightless feeling took over as you teleported to the lands. It looked very similar to how you left it, an uneasy feeling. One wrong move means game over, and you were so close.

Red Velvet ran over to a bush, ducking down with Custard still on his back. You ran over with him, unsure of what he wanted to do now.

"I need to find Strawberry Crepe. I have their sceptor, I'd hope they'd give valuable information for it." He explained, before pointing ahead, towards the many buildings housing waffle bots. He held onto Custard before standing up and running off to the first building. The waffle bots buzzed around, but none seemed to attack him.

You ran after, careful to not attract the attention of the robots, and still allow Pancake and Bundt to keep up.

"Crepe!" Red Velvet yelled out into the building, knowing they tend to spend their time in this one. All he got back was sniffling. Surely that was Crepe, but why were they crying?

You both walked around to find Strawberry Crepe on a chair, leaning against a desk, sadly staring out the crack in the wall.

"Crepe? Whats wrong?" Red Velvet asked, setting Custard down to the side. Crepe pointed behind Red Velvet, at the damaged and destroyed waffle bots. They turned to show him that they were rather beat up too.

"Those monsters came in and defeated me, it was no fair, I was supoosed to win! Now Dark Enchantress is mad at me for failing to keep them out of the castle." They sobbed, pausing for just a moment to catch their breath.

"You know shes pretty pissed off with you too. I wouldnt go there if I was you." They added, making a slicing motion across their neck, to add an emphasis to what they were saying. Red Velvet figured as much, but he was hoping he could reason with Dark Enchantress. Guess not.

"Hey, what are you made out of?" Crepe randomly asked, motioning towards you. They grabbed your arm and inspected it for a moment.

"I want to run a few tests on you. I couldnt back when Dark Enchantress had you, its my turn." They said, now less upset about their messed up bots. Their mood did a quick 180. They pulled you around to an area with many wires.
