Morning came with the sound of barking.

"Denki, baby, come one we need to go." Rushing to wake up Denki, Hanta hurriedly packed his things in his backpack, not bothering to fold the blankets up as he crammed them in.

"What's going on?" Dazed and still half asleep, Denki rubbed his eyes.

"Dogs, we need to run."

"Dogs?"

"Hunting dogs. Probably a search party. And unless you want to go back we need to get out of here." Hanta hurriedly packed up the small amount of food he'd gathered before rubbing the bag down with a strange scentless salve.

"No... no no no." Adrenaline pumped through Denki's veins, snapping him awake. He scrambled to his feet. He could already hear the dogs barking in the distance, they'd be there in minutes.

"Wipe yourself down with this towel then rub this on your skin and in your hair. It'll buy us some time."

Denki scrambled to rub the towel all over himself effectively making it smell like him then rubbed the strange salve Hanta had handed to him all over himself and into his hair.

"Come on, we need to get to the camp, we'll be safe there." Hanta pulled up the floor hatch helping Denki down before jumping down into the cave system. "One second don't move." Handing Denki the backpack, he dragged the towel along the floor out of sight.

Death gripping the backpack strap, Denki waited for what felt like an eternity before Hanta was back rubbing the salve onto his hands gesturing for him to do the same.

The cave system was dark and while Hanta had no problem seeing, he knew for Denki it would be pitch black. He positioned himself in front of Denki hooking his arms under his knees and lifted him onto his back

As they made their way through the dark winding cave systems that Hanta had spent the last two months exploring, they heard faint shouting in the distance, the sound echoing through the cave. A sure sign the people trying to find him were in the cave system. One voice was distinct despite how the cave warped the sounds. Mr. Sero.

Denki could feel the tufts of fur fill in a bit under his fingers. He tightened his grip, nuzzling into the back of Hanta's neck. He knew he had to stay quiet but he was hoping the small gesture would comfort Hanta enough to calm down. Once they made it to one of the many exits on the far side of the mountain they paused for a moment, sharing a tender kiss.

"That towel won't distract them for long. Let's try and get some distance on them." Hanta hugged Denki close, kissing the top of his head

"Okay." Denki nodded with a determined look in his eyes. Carefully they made their way down the mountain side as the sun rose casting the sky in an array of orange and reds

Once they were down the mountain, just outside the forest, the sounds of barking returned and they looked up the mountain side mortified. Hanta was sure they'd have a little more time. He grabbed Denki's hand and tugged him into the tree cover, hoping they hadn't been spotted.

"On my back and hold on tight." Hanta's voice became gravely as he shifted into a large black dog.

Denki climbed on and held on for dear life as Hanta took off at full speed through the forest.

There was a loud rustling ahead of them then suddenly a huge rust colored wolf, probably twice the size of Hanta, leaped over them landing with the snarl, postured and ready to fight.

Skidding to a stop at the feet of an ash blond, Hanta leaned down, letting the man scoop up Denki off his back. He licked Denki's face reassuringly before dashing back into the forest
