Can't We Just Agree To Disagree?

Izuku POV

His pulse thundered, nearly deafening. All helpful thoughts and urges seemed to abandon him completely, leaving him standing there like an idiot as his mouth opened and closed. In a way, this encounter strangely reminded him of when he'd first woken up to the world of quirks and Izuku Midoriya.

Everything was so out of place- in a body, he didn't know with buried emotions just below the surface. It had been too jarring for him, leaving behind a nearly unshakable fear that had lingered as he tried to regrow the bonds his past self had created.

He hadn't understood the Midoriya kid at all, it seemed he'd made all the wrong decisions. Every time he learned a new snippet of information, every time a puzzle piece clicked, it had just made him realize how much he truly didn't understand. From what he'd come to know, that version of Midoriya had been sensitive and kind, someone who was always looking out for others. But also someone hell-bent on becoming a hero no matter how much it hurt him in the process.

It didn't dawn on him until this completely out-of-place moment that he didn't really want that version back.

It seemed like he would never be able to move on until his memories were restored; yet oddly standing here with his own memories and thoughts and opinions, he'd never felt more like himself.

Warmth slowly grew stronger in his chest, spreading to his neck and gut. He focused on that energy, letting it once again spring to life. Green sparks flitted, rising up and curving around his limbs. The quirk was actually listening to him now and not just flying out of control as it had done in the past. He could feel it moving with him.

Deep breath in.

Deep breath out.

Izuku lunged.

His legs were so light it was easy to spring forward. He used his forward momentum, grabbing the hand dude and shoving him back into the wall behind them. It made the entire structure shake, sending crates crashing down to the ground.

The villain, Tomura, all but growled. His hand clamped down onto the box closest to him, dried-out skin turning an angry red as his knuckles tightened. Izuku's stomach dropped as he watched the box and all its content shudder and then fall apart as if it was nothing, falling to the ground in a pile of ashes. He could destroy things? Somehow turn them into nothing using his hands? The villain's quirk was powerful- he'd need to keep his distance.

There were rushed footsteps from behind him.

Izuku jumped, shocked at the height he was able to reach. For a few seconds, it felt like flying, a rush shooting down his spine. He landed behind all of them as gracefully as he could, unused to landing like that. Luckily his instincts guided him, legs moving before he had time to fully think through his next move.

He latched onto the girl, grabbing her by the collar and yanking back. She practically flew, feet leaving the ground and hair becoming undone. A flash of blonde flew past and just like Tomura had done she hit the wall. The only difference was she didn't stand back up, her body slumped forward. A painful shock fell over him - she wasn't....was she?

His relief was almost painful as he saw her shoulders rise up and down. She was just unconscious. He was going to need to be more careful.

This was the most he had ever used his quirk and he couldn't help but worry what effect this would have on his body. He didn't feel anything at the moment, not even the fatigue that would occasionally overcome him when training. Fighting here wasn't anything like it was back at U.A. , he'd been lucky he had the element of surprise.

"Somebody catch that brat!" Tomura yelled in a strangled voice. he stalked forward, cracked lips curling into a sneer. As terrifying as his power was Izuku couldn't help but think the villain was startlingly childish. He looked like an overgrown toddler that had just had his favorite toy taken away and hadn't learned what chapstick was yet.
