Sitting in a tree and staring into the distance. Luke spent the last few nights in the forest, refusing to go into town. Hunting small animals for blood. His phone died two days ago sometime in the evening and last time he had a chance to check it, there were at least 12 missed calls from Deaton. He could not bring himself to return. To face him after what had happened. He had seen a few police search parties looking through the forest, calling out his name, but with the kanima in the town no one had time to look for the teen. Well, at least until now. There was a snap of a twig and he heard someone cursing under their breath. He snapped his head around and saw him. Derek.

"You look like a mess." Stated Derek after a while of staring.

"What's that supposed to be? Flirting?" Growled Luke and then he turned away from the alpha. Derek jumped up on the branch Luke was on and sat next to him.

"That is caring. You know that the police is searching for you, right? Deaton's worried, everyone's worried, actually."

"I know."

"What happen-" "I'm leaving." Luke interrupted Derek, whose eyes widened with confusion.

"What?"

"I'm leaving California. If you all really care for me, then I have to leave."

"I don't understand."

"Every now and then I feel shiver go down my spine. I see her in my dreams clearer than ever. She's gonna use you to get to me. I can't allow that."

"She? You mean Petra?" Luke cringed, like just hearing the name left a sour taste in his mouth.

"Yes. Tell Deaton I'm sorry and that I'm thankful for everything. Please." The hybrid got up and prepared to jump down. Then, he felt a strong hand grip his wrist.

"You know I'm not gonna let you go, right?" Derek tightened his hold on Luke's wrist, not enough to leave a mark, but enough to show the other man that he meant what he said.

"I'm not asking you for permission."

"If you thing that some crazy vampire bitch is going to separate us then you're largely mistaken. Just let her come. And we'll show her what it means to be in a pack, to have a family." Luke's eyes started to sting for some reason.

"I don't know what it's like to be in a pack. Packs are for werewolves, not vampires, nor... freaks."

"Just take one look at Scott, he has a ball of sarcasm in his pack. I think a hybrid is pretty normal compared to that." Derek chuckled and Luke's eyes glazed over in the moonlight.

"Your hands are cold." Derek stated.

"Oh yea, I guess the nights in the forest-" Luke frowned.

"How do you know my normal body temperature? You know, I'm colder, 'cause I'm dead, right?" Derek flushed.

"Uh, well, you see, last full moon, I visited you because I was worried and uh, you were high on the meds that Deaton gave you and you almost faceplanted into the floor and I caught you." Luke blinked at him a couple of times and then blushed.

"I though it was a dream... Oh my god, Derek, I'm so sorry. I probably said some stupid shit that must have made you super uncomfortable. Fuck." Luke squeezed his eyes shut and hid them with his palms.

"Not at all, it was actually pretty cute." Derek laughed and Luke's cheeks flushed red. But then the hybrid froze in his tracks, as if remembering something.

"Uh, what exactly happened that night? Or, more like what did we talk about?"

"Well, you told me about a book called Return from the Stars, and also came out to me as a pansexual and... uh, told me that I... that I smell like cinnamon, fire and pine wood. I just listened and you fell asleep." Luke looked at him with interest.

"Was there anything you told me while I was, uh, asleep?" Derek blushed even more as he realised what Luke was hinting at.

"Just that I want to make you want to live again, heh." Derek looked somewhere over Luke's shoulder, avoiding his stare. The hybrids eyes flickered from his face to his chest for a moment.

"You know I can hear your heartbeat, right? What else did you tell me?" Derek internally cursed. But when he dared to look Luke in the eyes, there was flicker of something that Derek could only describe as hope.

"I, uh, I said...I wonder what... uh, fuck it."

Derek moved forward, tilted Luke's head up, and finally, after weeks of resisting, kissed him. Luke made a small noise of surprise but did not pull away. The kiss, however, lasted only a moment. Derek moved away the moment his brain caught up to his actions. Horrified look on his face.

"Shit! I'm so sorry. I don't know what got into me." Derek was prepared to bolt out of there, but Luke gripped his wrist. Same move Derek did to him when he was about to run.

"Shut up." He murmured and kissed the alpha. His pale fingers run through the other's ebony hair and the werewolf sighed into the kiss, pulling Luke closer to him by the hips. There were no butterflies or fireworks as some people describe. Just warmth. A warmth in a dead man's chest. Derek soon noticed his lack of air and tapped Luke on the shoulder. They separated, stared into each other's eyes and then they kissed again.

Hello everyone, sorry for the pause. There's just a lot going on right now, I turned 18 in november and my dad was like " Great now go and learn how to drive so you can be our taxi driver when we're too lazy." Yea... Also I just haven't felt very inspired to write this story as of late, but I promised myself that I would finish it. I also started translating one of my czech books into english, so after I finish this one, I'm gonna start publishing it. If you like Marvel, maybe consider following me, because I think that it is one of my best works to date. I hope you had merry christmas and I wish you all the best to the new year.
