Hades emerged from his shadows and stepped onto the fertile plain of Messara. Rows and rows of olive trees and vegetable patches lined on the green alluvial soil, with humble huts scattered near the spots of plantation. The invisible god stalked across the viridescence, into the city of Phaistos. He walked with determined steps up the stone paved road that snaked up the grassy hill of Kastri, to the old Minoan Palace.

Standing at the West Court, he looked on at the extensive abandoned palace. His eyes closed as his shadows coiled around his body, and flashed him to his mother's temple at the southern part of the palace compound. His quiet steps padded towards the rotunda of ashlar blocks, and he stood just outside the opened cedar doors; paintings of blue wheat and barley framed the ornate doors.
