Nat's POV

We just landed, so now it's time to focus, no time for distractions.

I grab Y/N's wrist and turn her to face me before she leaves out of the pilot's "cockpit."

"Are you ready Stevens?" I question while gazing into her eyes, searching for any trace of uncertainty.

"Affirmative Agent Romanoff." She states with a simple smile, and a brief nod.

When I find no trace of uncertainty I pull her into me for a quick hug.

"Be careful! Self preservation is key. Don't die on me!" I command, looking up at her, locking our gazes
"Please..." I whisper pleadingly.

"I promise to do my best, and usually my best ends with me living!" She 'reassures' me, and places a brief kiss to my forehead.

"You need to promise the same Natty." She whispers into my ear, with a vulnerability in her tone.

I pull back from our embrace, and lift my pinky up in front of her face. She smirks, mirrors my movements, and connects our pinkies. She lifts our connected hands up to her face and seals it with a kiss, I do the same. As our hands drop, I grip hers one last time, and give it a quick squeeze.
We lock gazes, put our game faces on, and make our way to the back of the jet.

"Rogers, Maximoff, it's showtime!" I say, not missing a beat as I stroll to the back, collecting my weaponry.

"I'm ready, are you?" Steve questions Y/N cautiously.

"Yes sir." Y/N replies, standing tall, not allowing his intimidating gaze to stall her.

Atta girl

"I'll be here on the jet, inform me as soon as you are in, and I'll make my way to the sky to keep surveillance. If you need me, you tell me, are we understood?" Wanda says, directing her gaze towards Y/N.

"Understood Maximoff." Y/N nods in understanding.

I can see Wands cringe at the title, she pulls
Y/N into a bone crushing hug, not seeming to care about professionalism or formalities.

Y/N's POV

"Rogers, Stevens, you know the plan. You're up!" Natasha commands.

"Copy that Agent Romanoff." I reply

Steve and I lock eyes, and in the moment I can feel him internally at war with himself. He wants to trust me for the sake of the mission, but he just can't seem to settle on it. Well, he's gonna have to get over himself and be prepared to follow my lead.

He sends me a nod, and I take that as his sign that he's ready to go.

We exit the jet, and I immediately lead us to the entrance where our agent on the inside is waiting.

"Rogers, when we get in there our best route is to take a left, then we take the stairs down to the lab. Wanda's mind reading abilities will come in handy because if memory serves me right the cells will be locked with unique codes. Also, if they've already started trials on them, we are going to need all backup possible. The powers are extremely volatile in the beginning phase, so just be prepared."

"Yeah, okay." Steve condescends.

"Listen, I'm not stupid, you don't trust me. I can handle that, but believe me when I say, I'm on your side here. Even if you only believe me for this mission, lives literally depend on us working through this together!" I say, leaving little to no room for a rebuttal.

He seems to pick up on my tone, and firmly nods in response.

"Agent Robbins, we're approaching the east wing, are you ready?" Steve asks through coms

"Give me two minutes, I'll be there."

As we wait to enter I reach out for Steve, activating my invisibility for when we get in there.

"Woah, why are you —." He starts to say, going to retreat.

"Shh.. This will feel weird, but it's our safest way of getting through undetected. I'm going to make us and what's attached to us invisible, so saddle your shield please."

He looks at me with a skeptical gaze.

"Do it Rogers!" Nat says through the open coms.

He reluctantly does so, sighing heavily, and as he does so Robbins opens the door as we walk in undetected.

*We're in*
*Copy, be careful*

"East Wing's clear." Robbins says to the hydra agents to cover himself.

As we get to the stairs I release my grip on him, and begin the descent, and he follows me with no resistance.

"We're going down two flights, when we walk through we'll be invisible again for the few minutes where we survey the area and our options. After I remove the invisibility we'll have approximately five minutes before one of the idiots catches on and we'll have to go."

*Wands, get me the cell codes please*
*On it!*

As we step in he goes to remove his arm from mine, and I have to increase my grip.

"Don't. We need to strategize first, if you let go you'll become visible."

"Well, I'm not scared, so I am willing to take my chances."

"Stop. I know you're not that stupid, so let's just strategize and then you'll be free from my apparently traumatizing grip." I reply, running out of patience for his ignorance.

So, the plan is for us to enter the codes, escort them to the lower level exit where Wanda and backup is waiting for them. After surveying them I can tell they haven't started trials yet, the civilians just look beaten down and exhausted. It's still the beat them into submission part of the trials, which, as bad as it sounds, is actually the best phase to be in.

*Codes please*
*First cell is J5B2A*
*Perfect*
*Second cell is K3A4W*
*Last cell is P1F3Q*

After we get the civilians out and Nat secured the perimeter with bombs the mission moves to data retrieval. Cap, Nat, and I are tasked with finding files that might lead to hydra's other plans.

"Data's not going to be in the lab, we need to go up at least three floors, which will be tricky as we've set off their alarms. As soon as we opened those cells someone was alerted and I'm sure they're preparing defense. Also, they've probably seen me, which in turn makes the target bigger." I begin to relay to Natasha and Steve.

"Then maybe you and Wanda should trade places?" Nat questions stoically, but I can see the worry building behind her hardened stare.

"No, I am here to help take this place down, and they're not going to intimidate me into hiding in a jet." I state, already making a beeline towards the stairs.

Steve and Natasha swiftly follow as we move up.

"My invisibility is useless at this point, for starters we can't get much done huddled up, and there's also the fact that they can use infrared scanners to detect our heat."

"So then we move quickly, keep your guards up, watch each others backs, and leave the bombs to erase whatever we don't find." Natasha commands as we push our way through to the third floor.
