“You should rest,” the younger told the elder.
“No, no, I’m fine,” the elder one replied and waved her hand dismissively.
“Why don’t you go to him? You miss him, I can see it in your eyes; they look empty without him.”
“Youra, don’t bring him up when I’m working,” the elder woman said and continued doing her work.
“Amin, stop it! Look at me. You’re lying to yourself. Work isn’t in between you both; you are,” Youra said, angrily.
Amin sighed and gritted her teeth. “It’s been three years, Youra; three damn years.”
“And so what? Has anything changed between the two of you in these three years? Tell me, has it?”
“Youra, I’m working; you can leave,” Amin said.
“Jimin still comes to visit you. He takes you out, he hugs you, he kisses you; he loves you.”
Amin sighed and rubbed her temples.
“Why don’t you understand? You need him. You are his girlfriend, Amin, and as far as I and Jimin know, nothing has changed between the two of you. So why do you keep lying to yourself? Why are you pushing your relationship? You are not that busy, Amin. The company is going well, yet, Jimin is the only one making the effort for your relationship.”
Youra paused for a moment. Her heart grew soft as she looked at Amin sitting there. But she needed this scolding and Youra would knock some sense into her.
“Is it that you not love him anymore?” Youra asked quietly.
And the look that Amin suddenly gave Youra, made her spine shiver and she stood there in fear.
“Jimin is the only one I’ve ever loved,” Amin said.
“Then why? Why are you not making any effort? Clearly, you’re both hurting. But honestly speaking, I’m on his side. I may be your assistant, but I can’t just keep quiet and watch you breaking both of you.”
“Enough, Youra,” Amin said sternly.
“Go to him. He’s the one who comes here, he’s the one who takes you there; he’s the only one doing anything and everything to keep you both going despite the long distance.”
“You can leave, Youra.”
“Oh, I’ll leave alright. But please, go to him. Both of you need each other. Don’t break something so beautiful, Amin,” Youra said quietly and exited Amin’s office.
Amin sighed and stopped doing her work.
Youra was right. Amin was at fault and Amin knew it as well, but she was afraid. Even though Jimin visited her as often as he could, Amin was still scared that what they had in the past, she had broken it.
She rolled her sleeve up and looked at the two fang marks left from when Jimin had visited her almost a month ago.
She had insisted he drink her blood instead of just hunting an animal. And then like each time, he had given her his blood to drink as well.
