Alyssa jumped fairly soon after they left the Musee D'Orsay and jumped to a past Tardis. while Rose and the Tenth Doctor was still in it, "What do you think of this? Will it do?" Rose asked as she had changed into a different outfit,
"Depends on where we're going." Alyssa piped up, making the two smile at her,
"the late 1970s? You'd be better off in a bin bag. Hold on, listen to this." The Doctor said, as he put a CD in the Tardis playing a rock CD,
"Ian Dury and the Blockheads. Number One in 1979." The Doctor said,
"You're a punk." Rose said,
"It's good to be a lunatic." The Doctor almost sang,
"That's what you are. A big old punk with a bit of rockabillly thrown in." Rose said,
"Would you two like to see him?" The Doctor said, and
"How'd you mean? In concert?" Rose said,
"What other way would he mean?" Alyssa said,
"What else is a Tardis for? I can take you to the Battle of Trafalgar, the first anti-gravity Olympics, Caesar crossing the Rubicon or Ian Dury at the Top Rank, Sheffield, England, Earth, 21st November, 1979. What do you think?" The Doctor said, looking between Alyssa and Rose,
"I wouldn't mind the first Anti-gravity olympics, but I think I'll let Rose decide." Alyssa said, as she walked over to the Doctor,
"Sheffield it is." Rose said,
"Hold on tight." The Doctor said, before piloting the Tardis, while piloting he hit the Tardis, in sort of rhythm into the Tardis "Landing." The Doctor shouted before the Tardis landed making the three fly on to the grating floor, and they all started laughing, "1979." The Doctor said, as he got up and grabbed Alyssa's hand as he passed pulling her up, her doing the same with Rose, "Hell of a year. China invades Vietnam. The Muppet Movie. Love that film. Margaret Thatcher. Urgh. Skylab falls to Earth, with a little help from me. Nearly took off my thumb." He said, before the three stepped out of the Tardis, as he continued,
"And I like my thumb. I need my thumb. I'm very attached to" he said as rifles were cocked and pointed at the three, "My thumb." He said, as the three rose their hands, as they were surrouned by Red coats, "1879. Same difference."
"You will explain your presence. And the nakedness of these girls." One of the red Coats who appeared to be the captain said,
"Are we in Scotland?" The Doctor said, in a scottish accent,
"How can you be ignorant of that?" the captain asked,
"Oh, I'm, I'm dazed and confused. I've been chasing this, these wee naked children over hill and over dale. Isn't that right, ya timorous beasties?" The Doctor said, and Alyssa nodded,
"Och, aye! I've been oot and aboot." Rose said, trying her best to sound Scottish like the Doctor,
"No, don't do that." Alyssa said,
"Hoots mon." Rose just tried again,
"No, really don't. Really." The Doctor said,
"Will you identify yourself, sir?" the captain said,
"I'm Doctor James McCrimmon, from the township of Balamory. I have my credentials, if I may." the Doctor said, and the red coats gave him permission to pull out his Psychic paper allowing the three to drop their arms, "As you can see, a Doctorate from the University of Edinburgh. I trained under Doctor Bell himself." he said showing the paper to the red coats,
"Let them approach." A female british voice said, from inside the carriage that was behind the guards,
"I don't think that's wise, ma'am." The captain said,
"Let them approach." The female just said again, and the captain pulled his gun back,
"You will approach the carriage, and show all due deference." the captain said, and the three walked behind the captain to a carriage, and a footman opened it to reveal Queen Victoria,
"Alyssa, Rose, might I introduce her Majesty Queen Victoria. Empress of India and Defender of the Faith." The Doctor said,
"Alyssa Smith, Ma'am." Alyssa curtsying,
"Rose Tyler, Ma'am. And my apologies for being so naked." Rose said,
"I've had five daughters. It's nothing to me. But you, Doctor. Show me these credentials." Queen Victoria said, and the Doctor handed her his Psychic Paper, "Why didn't you say so immediately? It states clearly here that you have been appointed by the Lord Provost as my Protector."
"Does it?" The Doctor said, as he took it back and gave it a quick look, "Yes, it does. Good. Good. Then let me ask - why is Your Majesty travelling by road when there's a train all the way to Aberdeen?"
"A tree on the line." Queen Victoria said,
"An accident?" The Doctor said,
"I am the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Everything around me tends to be planned." Queen Victoria said,
"An assassination attempt?" the Doctor said,
"What, seriously? There's people out to kill you?" Rose said,
"I'm quite used to staring down the barrel of a gun." Queen Victoria said,
"Sir Robert MacLeish lives but ten miles hence. We've sent word ahead. He'll shelter us for tonight, then we can reach Balmoral tomorrow." The captain said,
"This Doctor and his timorous beasties will come with us." Queen Victoria said,
"Yes, Ma'am. We'd better get moving - it's almost nightfall." The captain said,
"Indeed. And there are stories of wolves in these parts. Fanciful tales intended to scare the children. But good for the blood, I think. Drive on!" Queen Victoria said, and the red coats and the carriage started forward once more, Alyssa, Rose and the Doctor following it,
"It's funny though, because you say assassination and you just think of Kennedy and stuff. Not her."
"In 1879? She has had about 6 attempts on her life, every Monarch has assassinations on them at least a couple times. Queen Victoria is no exemption."
"And I'll tell you something else. We just met Queen Victoria!" The Doctor said, Making Alyssa smiled,
"I know!" Rose said,
"What a laugh!" The Doctor said,
"She was just sitting there." Rose said, Alyssa smiling as she watched the back and forward between The Doctor and Rose,
"Like a stamp." The Doctor said,
"I want her to say we are not amused. I bet you five quid I can make her say it."
"Well, if I gambled on that, it'd be an abuse of my privileges of traveller in time." the Doctor said,
"Privileges of traveller in time? And what are those?" Alyssa said, making the Doctor mock glare at the her,
"Ten quid?" Rose said,
"Done." The Doctor said,
They walked for quite a while before they got to the house Queen Victoria was going to stay at. and the lord of the house came out and greeted them "Your Majesty." the man said,
"Sir Robert. My apologies for the emergency. And how is Lady Isobel?" Queen Victoria said,
"She's indisposed, I'm afraid. She's gone to Edinburgh for the season. And she's taken the cook with her. The kitchens are barely stocked. I wouldn't blame Your Majesty if you wanted to ride on." Robert said, and Alyssa and the Doctor looked suspiciously at him,
"Oh, not at all. I've had quite enough carriage exercise. And this is charming, if rustic. It's my first visit to this house. My late husband spoke of it often. The Torchwood Estate. Now, shall we go inside? And please excuse the naked girls." Queen Victoria said, and both Rose and Alyssa muttered apologies,
"They're are feral children. I bought them for sixpence in old London Town. It's was them or the Elephant Man, so" The Doctor said, making Alyssa glare at him from the corner of her eye,
"Thinks he's funny but I'm so not amused. What do you think, Ma'am?" Rose said,
"It hardly matters. Shall we proceed?" Queen Victoria said, before Robert started leading the group inside,
"So close." Rose said, making the Doctor and Alyssa smirk at her, as Queen Victoria went inside the house,
"Makerson and Ramsey, you will escort the property. Hurry up." the captain said,
"Yes, sir." some of the Solider said, as they took a small locked box out of the carriage,
" So what's in there, then?" the Doctor asked,
"Property of the Crown. You will dismiss any further thoughts, sir. The rest of you go to the rear of the house. Assume your designated positions." the Captain said,
"You heard the orders. Positions. " The red coats said, as they started going into their postions around the property, as the three followed the queen and Robert to an Observatory,
"This, I take it, is the famous Endeavour." Queen Victoria said, talking about a telescope machine in the room,
"All my father's work. Built by hand in his final years. Became something of an obsession. He spent his money on this rather than caring for the house or himself." Robert said,
"I wish I'd met him. I like him. That thing's beautiful. Can I?" The Doctor asked as he wanted to get a closer look at it,
"Help yourself." Robert said, and the three went forward and the Doctor started examining it
"What did he model it on?" The Doctor asked,
"I know nothing about it. To be honest, most of us thought him a little, shall we say, eccentric." Robert said, causing the Doctor to laugh "I wish now I'd spent more time with him and listened to his stories."
"It's a bit rubbish. How many prisms has it got? Way too many. The magnification's gone right over the top. That's stupid kind of," the Doctor started as he walked forward and stopped in front of Alyssa "Am I being rude again?"
"Yep." Alyssa said, patting his arm as he turned around,
"But it's pretty. It's very pretty." The Doctor said,
"And the imagination of it should be applauded." Queen Victoria said,
"Mmm. Thought you might disapprove, Your Majesty. Stargazing. Isn't that a bit fanciful? You could easily not be amused, or something? No?" Rose said,
"This device surveys the infinite work of God. What could be finer? Sir Robert's father was an example to us all. A polymath, steeped in astronomy and sciences, yet equally well versed in folklore and fairytales." Queen Victoria said,
"Stars and magic. I like him more and more." The Doctor said, before he turned back to to the machine,
"Oh, my late husband enjoyed his company. Prince Albert himself was acquainted with many rural superstitions, coming as he did from Saxe Coburg." Queen Victoria said,
"That's Bavaria." Alyssa whispered to Rose,
"When Albert was told about your local wolf, he was transported." Queen Victoria said,
"So, what's this wolf, then?" The Doctor said,
"It's just a story." Robert said,
"Then tell it." Alyssa said,
"It's said that" Robert started only to be interrupted,
"Excuse me, sir. Perhaps her Majesty's party could repair to their rooms. It's almost dark." a bald man said,
"Of course. Yes, of course." Robert said,
"And then supper. And could we find some clothes for Miss Tyler and Miss Smith? I'm tired of nakedness." Queen Victoria said,
"It's not amusing, is it?" Rose said,
"Sir Robert, your wife must have left some clothes. See to it. We shall dine at seven, and talk some more of this wolf. After all, there is a full moon tonight." Queen Victoria said,
"So there is, Ma'am." Robert said,
Rose and Alyssa were brought to a room where wardrobes of dresses were and they got to seeing what they should change into. Alyssa hung up a dress before she went over and to a different wardrobe, she opened it to reel back suddenly as maid was hiding in it.
"They came through the house. In the excitement they took the Steward and the Master, and my Lady." The maid said, as she explained to Alyssa and Rose why she was hiding in the wardrobe,
"Listen we've got a friend, He's called the Doctor. He'll know what to do. You've got to come with me." Rose said, grabbing the maids hand,
"Oh, but I can't, Miss."
"What's your name?" Alyssa said,
"Flora." Flora said,
"Flora, We'll be safe There's more people arrived downstairs, soldiers and everything, and they can help us. I promise. Come on. Okay? Come on." Rose said, and the three left the room and they went around a corner to see one of the soldier unconscious on the ground,
"Oh, Miss. I did warn you." Flora said, as Alyssa rushed to the man and brought out her Sonic Pen and scanned him, before putting it away,
"He's not dead. he has to be drugged." Alyssa said, and she heard two yells behind her, to see two bald men who grabbed Rose and Flora. before a third grabbed her, and covered her mouth and pulled her away.
they brought the three down into the basement where a bunch of maids and the obivous steward and the lady of the house was. They all seemed afraid of hooded man in a cage, "Don't make a sound. They said if we scream or shout, then he will slaughter us." The lady of the house said,
"But he's in a cage. He's a prisoner. He's the same as us." Rose said,
"if he was the same as us Rose, he would be chained just like us Rose," Alyssa said, as she
"He's nothing like us. That creature is not mortal." The lady of the house said, nodding at what Alyssa had said. Before the man opened his eyes to reveal pitch black eyes, causing the others to cower in fear. Alyssa stood up and walked forward as much as she could,
"Don't, child."
"Im not a child." Alyssa muttered, before turning back to the creature "Who are you? do you have a name?" she asked
"Don't enrage him." the steward said,
"Where are you from? You're not from Earth. What planet are you from?" She asked, "I can take you home, if you'll let me,"
"Oh, intelligence." the man said,
"Where were you born?" She just asked again,
"This body? Ten miles away. A weakling, heartsick boy, stolen away at night by the brethren for my cultivation. I carved out his soul and sat in his heart."
"you killed the boy?" Alyssa said, "the body's human. But what about you, the thing inside?" She asked as she kneeled down, to look in his eyes
"So far from home." he said
"Like I said, I can help you get home if you want." Alyssa said,
"Why would I leave this place? A world of industry, of workforce and warfare. I could turn it to such purpose." he said,
"How would you do that?" Rose asked, as she joined Alyssa,
"I would migrate to the Holy Monarch." he said,
"Queen Victoria?" Alyssa said,
"With one bite, I would pass into her blood, and then it begins. The Empire of the Wolf. Many questions." he said before he lunged at the bars of the cage, "Look. Inside your eyes. You've seen it too." looking at Alyssa,
"Seen what," Alyssa muttered,
"The Wolf. There is something of the Wolf about you." he said
"I don't know about wolf... Im more of like an Angel." Alyssa muttered once more, ignoring the confused look Rose gave her,
"You burn like the sun, but all I require is the moon." he said, before light of the moon came down and shined on him, "Moonlight," and the man took off his robe and wind picked up in the room. Alyssa stood up and grabbed a hold of the chain, looking at Rose, who got what she was saying,
"All of you! Stop looking at it! Flora, don't look. Listen to me. Grab hold of the chain and pull! Come on! With me! Pull!" Rose yelled before Alyssa looked at the lady of the house
"Pull! Stop your whining and listen to me! All of you! And that means you, your Ladyship. Now come on, pull!" Alyssa yelled and the group started pulling to get the chain away from the wall. Alyssa glanced at the man periodically, as it started transforming into something.
"DOCTOR!" She called out in her mind as it turned into a wolf, as she continued to tell the group to pull
"Im Coming!" she heard the Doctor's voice say in her head, before she gave one last yank with the group successfully pulled the chain off the wall, just as the Doctor burst through the door. "Where the hell have you been?" She said, as he turned and looked at the wolf,
"Oh, that's beautiful." The Doctor said, as Robert started pulling the others out,
"Now is not the time Doctor!" Alyssa said, and the Doctor turned back to her,
"Out! Out! Out! Out! Out! Out! Out! Out! Out! Out!" He yelled, before he started staring at the wolf again, Alyssa grabbing his arm
"Come on," She said before pulling him out, the Doctor locking the door behind them before they heard a howl from the wolf. They rushed into an armory as the steward gave guns out to other men as the lady of the house and the maids rushed out of the room
"could be any form of light modulated species triggered by specific wavelengths. Did it say what it wanted?" he said as he got off Alyssa's cuffs before moving to Rose's,
"The Queen. It wants to rule Britain, maybe the world." Alyssa said, before there was a crash from the room the Doctor locked the creature in, the Doctor rushed forward
"Doctor!" Alyssa yelled as he left the room, before suddenly rushing back grabbing her arm and pulling behind the men, Rose following them. As the wolf ran in the room and the steward cried out for the other men to fire, and the wolf disappeared,
"All right, you men. We should retreat upstairs. Come with me." The Doctor said,
"I'll not retreat. The battle's done. There's no creature on God's Earth that could survive such an assault." The steward said, before he rushed to go into the hallway where the wolf went,
"I'm telling you, come upstairs!" The Doctor said,
"And I'm telling you, sir, I will sleep well tonight with that thing's hide upon my wall." the steward said, before rushing down the corridor before looking down a hall "It must have crawled away to die." he said, before a arm of the wolf reached down and grabbed him, and
"There's nothing we can do!" The Doctor said, grabbing Alyssa's hand and rushing out of the room, Rose, and Robert running after them.
"Your Majesty? Your Majesty!" Robert called out, and Queen Victoria appeared at the top of the stairs and started making her way down
"Sir Robert? What's happening?" Queen Victoria said, "I heard such terrible noises." before the Doctor rushed off to check to see if there was a way out.
"Your Majesty, we've got to get out. But what of Father Angelo? Is he still here?" Robert said,
"Captain Reynolds disposed of him." Queen Victoria said, before the Doctor returned,
"The front door's no good, it's been boarded shut. Pardon me, Your Majesty. You'll have to leg it out of a window." The Doctor said, gesturing to a room and Queen Victoria walked through the doorway,
"Excuse my manners, Ma'am, but I shall go first, the better to assist Her Majesty's egress." Robert said,
"A noble sentiment, my Sir Walter Raleigh." Queen Victoria said,
"Yeah, any chance you could hurry up?" The Doctor said, and Robert went to open the window and three shots went off, as many monks with guns reloaded their guns,
"I reckon the monkey boys want us to stay inside." The Doctor said, looking at the monks
"Do they know who I am??" Queen Victoria said
"They know who you are Ma'am that's why they want you. the wolf has kind of lined you up for a biting." Alyssa said,
"Stop this talk. There can't be an actual wolf." Queen Victoria said, right before there was an howl that sounded really close, they rushed out to see one of the doors they closed being pounded by the wolf,
"What do we do?" Rose said,
"We run." Alyssa said,
"Is that it?" Rose said,
"You got any silver bullets?" Alyssa said, as she started racking her memory for the episode, before remembering the episode,
"Not on me, no." Rose said,
"There we are then, we run. Your Majesty, as a Doctor, I recommend a vigourous jog. Good for the health. Come on!" The Doctor said, before taking her hand and the group ran up the staircase, the wolf breaking down the door, and rushing after them Alyssa losing speed as she ran as the Doctor and the others, turned a corner, Alyssa heard a growl just behind and she whipped around "ALYSSA!" the Doctor yelled, as he figured out what happened and ran back for her as she threw her hands up and golden tendrils rang out from them and wrapped around the wolf, and slowed the Wolf just enough for the Doctor to grab her arm and pull her to the others before a shot rang out, as Reynolds entered the hallway and shot the wolf, causing the wolf to retreat for a while.
"I'll take this position and hold it. You keep moving, for God's sake! Your Majesty, I went to look for the property and it was taken. The chest was empty." Reynolds said,
"I have it. It's safe." Queen Victoria said,
"Then remove yourself, Ma'am. Doctor, you stand as Her Majesty's Protector. And you, Sir Robert, you're a traitor to the crown." Captain said,
"Bullets can't stop it!" the Doctor said,
"They'll buy you time. Now run!" Reynolds said, and that's exactly what they did they ran into a library Rose stopping at the entrance, watching Reynolds as the wolf caught up with him,
"Rose!" Alyssa yelled before she ran forward and dragged her into the room before the four threw the door closed.
"Barricade the door." Robert said, the group doing exactly that,
"Wait a minute. Shush, shush, wait a minute." The Doctor said, before listening a Howl coming from the Wolf "It's stopped." he said looking back at the others, before pressing his ear to the door and listened "It's gone."
"Listen." Alyssa said, as they heard the wolf walk around the room,
"Is this the only door?" The Doctor asked,
"Yes. No!" Robert said, before he and the Doctor rushed to barricade the other door,
"Shush." Rose said, before more noise from the wolf before they faded away "I don't understand. What's stopping it?"
"Something inside this room. What is it? Why can't it get in?" The Doctor said,
"I'll tell you what, though." Rose said,
"What?" the Doctor said,
"Werewolf." Rose said, Alyssa frowning at the two as the Doctor let out a smile and went over to hug Rose,
"I know. You all right?" he asked,
"I'm okay, yeah." Rose said,
"I'm sorry, Ma'am. It's all my fault. I should have sent you away. I tried to suggest something was wrong. I thought you might notice. Did you think there was nothing strange about my household staff?" Robert said,
"Well, they were bald, athletic. Your wife's away, I just thought you were happy." The Doctor said,
"I'll tell you what though, Ma'am, I bet you're not amused now." Rose said,
"Rose do you think this is really the best moment? people have just died, Is this really the best moment?" Alyssa snapped at her, making Rose rear back a little bit,
"No, I'm sorry." Rose said, and Alyssa just let out a sigh,
"What, exactly, I pray tell me, someone, please. What exactly is that creature?" Queen Victoria said,
"You'd call it a werewolf, but technically it's a more of a lupine wavelength haemovariform." The Doctor said,
"And should I trust you, sir? You who change your voice so easily? What happened to your accent?" Queen Victoria said,
"Oh right, sorry, that's" the Doctor started only to be interrupted
"I'll not have it. No, sir. Not you, not that thing, none of it. This is not my world." Queen Victoria said,
The group sat as the Doctor looked around the room before he stopped and looked at the door, "Mistletoe. Sir Robert, did you father put that there?" he asked,
"I don't know. I suppose." Robert said,
"On the other door, too. No, a carving wouldn't be enough. I wonder." The Doctor said, before he got up on a chair and licked the door, "Viscum album, the oil of the mistletoe. It's been worked into the wood like a varnish. How clever was your dad? I love him." he said before he got down and looked at Rose "powerful stuff, mistletoe. Bursting with lectins and viscotoxins."
"And the wolf's allergic to it?" Rose asked,
"Well, it thinks it is. The monkey monk monks need a way of controlling the wolf, maybe they trained it to react against certain things." the Doctor said,
"Nevertheless, that creature won't give up, Doctor, and we still don't possess an actual weapon."
Robert said,
"Oh, your father got all the brains, didn't he?" The Doctor said, making Alyssa shake her head,
"Being rude again." Alyssa said,
"Good. I meant that one. You want weapons? We're in a library. Books! Best weapons in the world. This room's the greatest arsenal we could have." The Doctor said, before he put on his glasses and grabbed books and threw it at the others, "Arm yourself."
"Biology, zoology. There might be something on wolves in here." Rose said, as she flipped through the book in her hand, as the Doctor and Robert overlapped her,
"Hold on, what about this? A book on mistletoe." The Doctor said,
"A book on magic." Rose said,
" the application of Gunpowder if we could build some form of explosive." Robery said,
"Hmm, that's the sort of thing." The Doctor said,
"Wolf's bane, what about that?" Rose said,
"We might not be able to find Wolf's bane Rose." Alyssa said as she flipped through her own book, before the Doctor jumped down from the chair he was on, and placed the book he was looking at on a table,
"Look what your old dad found. Something fell to Earth." The Doctor said,
"A spaceship?" Rose said
"Possibly." Alyssa said,
"A shooting star." Robert said before he started reading the book "In the year of our Lord 1540, under the reign of King James the Fifth, an almighty fire did burn in the pit. That's the Glen of Saint Catherine just by the monastery."
"But that's over three hundred years ago. What's it been waiting for?" Rose said,
"Maybe just a single cell survived. Adapting slowly down the generations, it survived through the humans, host after host after host." the Doctor said,
"But why does it want the throne?" Robert said,
"That's what it wants. It said so. The, the Empire of the Wolf." Rose said,
"Imagine it. The Victorian Age accelerated. Starships and missiles fueled by coal and driven by steam, leaving history devastated in its wake." The Doctor said,
"Sir Robert. If I am to die here." Queen Victoria said, as she stood up from where she was sitting,
"Your Majesty you are not going to die here." Alyssa said,
"Don't say that, Your Majesty." Robert said,
"I would destroy myself rather than let that creature infect me. But that's no matter. I ask only that you find some place of safekeeping for something far older and more precious than myself." Queen Victoria said,
"Hardly the time to worry about your valuables." The Doctor said,
"Thank you for your opinion, but there is nothing more valuable than this." Queen Victoria said, before she brought out a large diamond,
"Is that the Koh-I-Noor?" Rose said,
"Oh, yes. The greatest diamond in the world." The Doctor said, as the three walked over,
"Given to me as the spoils of war. Perhaps its legend is now coming true. It is said that whoever owns it must surely die." Queen Victoria said,
"Well, that's true of anything if you own it long enough. Can I?" the Doctor said, holding his hand out to the diamond and Queen Victoria let him take it before he started examining it, "That is so beautiful."
"How much is that worth?" Rose asked,
"They say the wages of the entire planet for a whole week." the Doctor said,
"Good job my mum's not here. She'd be fighting the wolf off with her bare hands for that thing." Rose said, as she reached up and touched it before letting her hand drop,
"And she'd win." The Doctor muttered,
"Where is the wolf? I don't trust this silence." Robert said,
"Why do you travel with it?" Alyssa asked looking up at Queen Victoria,
"My annual pilgrimage. I'm taking it to Helier and Carew, the Royal Jewellers at Hazelhead. The stone needs recutting." Queen Victoria said,
"Oh, but it's perfect." Rose said,
"My late husband never thought so." Queen Victoria said,
"Now, there's a fact. Prince Albert kept on having the Koh-I-Noor cut down. It used to be forty percent bigger than this. But he was never happy. Kept on cutting and cutting." the Doctor said,
"He always said the shine was not quite right. But he died with it still unfinished." Queen Victoria said,
"Unfinished. Oh, yes." The Doctor said, he realized something before he threw the stone back at the Queen, "There's a lot of unfinished business in this house. His father's research, and your husband, Ma'am, he came here and he sought the perfect diamond. Hold on, hold on. All these separate things, they're not separate at all, they're connected. "At least, that's what the wolf intended. But, what if there's a trap inside the trap?" the Doctor said,
"Explain yourself, Doctor." Queen Victoria said,
"What if his father and your husband weren't just telling each other stories. They dared to imagine all this was true, and they planned against it, laying the real trap not for you but for the wolf."
"I need a bigger head, I forgot something vital" Alyssa said, "The wolf, doctor." before plaster fell down from the ceiling and the five looked up to see the wolf on the Skylight,
"That wolf there." The Doctor said, right as the skylight cracked, "Out! Out! Out!" He yelled as the five ran to get the barricade as the wolf fell through the skylight, they ran out of the room and ran down the hallway "Get to the observatory!" the Doctor said as Rose stopped and turned around and screamed before the lady Isobel threw a bucket of water on the wolf which burned it and made it retreat, "Good shot."
"It was mistletoe." Flora said, As Alyssa, Rose and the Doctor ran forward and made sure the Wolf ran off
"Come on!" The Doctor said, before the three ran back to them
"The observatory's this way." Robert said, before the five ran up more stairs before getting to the observatory entrance,
"No mistletoe in these doors because your father wanted the wolf to get inside. I just need time. Is there any way of barricading this?" the Doctor said, as they entered the observatory,
"Just do your work and I'll defend it." Robert said,
"If we could bind them shut with rope or something." the Doctor said,
"I said I'd find you time, Sir. Now get inside." Robert said,
"Good man." The Doctor said, before he shut the door and ran to Queen Victoria , "Your Majesty, the diamond."
"For what purpose?" Queen Victoria said,
"The purpose it was designed for." The Doctor said, and Queen Victoria handed over the diamond and he rushed over to the control wheel"Ally." the Doctor said, and Alyssa ran over and started pushing on it to raise the Telescope, "Lift it. Come on."
"Rose come help me." Alyssa said, and Rose rushed over and helped her push the control wheel,
"Is this the right time for stargazing?" Rose asked,
"Yes it is." Alyssa said,
"You said this thing doesn't work." Rose said,
"It doesn't work as a telescope because that's not what it is. It's a light chamber. It magnifies the light rays like a weapon. We've just got to power it up." the Doctor said,
"It won't work. There's no electricity. Moonlight. But the wolf needs moonlight. It's made by moonlight." Rose said,
"You're seventy percent water but you can still drown. Come on! Come on!" Alyssa said, as they continued raising the telescope until light shown through it and a beam of light shown on the ground. The wolf bust through the door, before the Doctor slid the Diamond into the light and it reflected the light into the wolf lifting him up as he had turned back human
"Make it brighter. Let me go." the man said, and Alyssa walked over and adjusted the magnification. and the man turned back into a wolf before howling and disappearing.
"Your Majesty? Did it bite you?" The Doctor said, looking at Queen Victoria who was looking at her wrist,
"No, it's, it's a cut, that's all." Queen Victoria said,
"If that thing bit you?" the Doctor said,
"it was a splinter of wood when the door came apart. It's nothing." Queen Victoria said,
"Let me see." The Doctor said moving to grab the hand but Queen Victoria snatched it away,
"It is nothing." Queen Victoria said again,
The Next morning Alyssa, Rose and the Doctor kneeled in front of the queen who held a sword "By the power invested in me by the Church and the State, I dub thee Sir Doctor of Tardis." Queen Victoria said before tapping both shoulders with her sword "By the power invested in by the Church and the State, I dub thee, Dame Alyssa of Tardis," the Queen said before doing the same to Alyssa, before doing Rose "By the power invested in me by the Church and the State, I dub thee Dame Rose of the Powell Estate. You may stand." the Queen said, and the three stood up,
"Many thanks, Ma'am." the Doctor said,
"Thank you Ma'am" Alyssa said,
"Thanks. They're never going to believe this back home." Rose said,
"Your Majesty, you said last night about receiving no message from the great beyond. I think your husband cut that diamond to save your life. He's protecting you even now, Ma'am, from beyond the grave." The Doctor said,
"Indeed. Then you may think on this also. That I am not amused." Queen Victoria said,
"Yes!" Rose exclaimed,
"Not remotely amused. And henceforth I banish you." Queen Victoria said,
"I'm sorry?" The Doctor said,
"I have rewarded you, Sir Doctor, and now you are exiled from this empire, never to return. I don't know what you are, the three of you, or where you're from, but I know that you consort with stars and magic and think it fun. Only one of you seems to not think that, but your world is steeped in terror and blasphemy and death, and I will not allow it. You will leave these shores and you will reflect, I hope, on how you came to stray so far from all that is good, and how much longer you may survive this terrible life. Now leave my world, and never return." Queen Victoria said,
The three managed to get a ride on the back of a cart driven by someone called Dougal who dropped them off near the Tardis, "Cheers, Dougal!" The Doctor said,
"Walk on." Dougal said,
"No, but the funny thing is, Queen Victoria did actually suffer a mutation of the blood. It's historical record. She was haemophiliac. They used to call it the Royal Disease. But it's always been a mystery because she didn't inherit it. Her mum didn't have it, her dad didn't have it. It came from nowhere." The Doctor said,
"What, and you're saying that's a wolf bite?" Rose said,
"Well, maybe haemophilia is just a Victorian euphemism." The Doctor said,
"For werewolf?" Rose said,
"Could be." the Doctor said,
"Queen Victoria's a werewolf?" Rose said,
"Could be." Alyssa said,
"her children had the Royal Disease. Maybe she gave them a quick nip." The Doctor said,
"So, the Royal Family are werewolves?" Rose said,
"Well, maybe not yet. I mean, a single wolf cell could take a hundred years to mature. Might be ready by, oh, early 21st century?" Alyssa said,
"Nah, that's just ridiculous! Mind you, Princess Anne." Rose said, rubbing the back of her head,
"We'll say no more." the Doctor said,
"And if you think about it, they're very private. They plan everything in advance. They could schedule themselves around the moon. We'd never know. And they like hunting!" Rose said, as the three entered the Tardis, "They love blood sports. Oh my God, they're werewolves!" before she howled the three joining as the Doctor piloted the Tardis away,
Alyssa soon was scouring the Library, as she looked for any books on the Time Vortex
"Alyssa?" The Doctor called out,
"yeah?" she said poking her head out of the row she was in,
"ah ha, I knew you would be in here, I wanted to talk to you about the golden thing you did to the Wolf you slowed it down." the Doctor said, walking over and joining her,
"yep I know what happened."
"Do you know how it happened?"
"No," she said honestly "It scares me too Doctor if thats what you are thinking I have absolutely no clue on how to control it." Alyssa said, scanning the books again,
"Fair enough, We can figure it out together." The Doctor said making Alyssa smile at him, before he held a hand out to her "I remember someone saying something about the first Anti-gravity Olympics? Shall we?" Alyssa let out a laugh as she put her hand in his,
"We shall." Alyssa said, and the Doctor pulled Alyssa out of the library and to the console room.
