Evolution of the Daleks

The Doctor looked at Dalek Sec in complete shock as it said “These humans will become like me. Prepare them for hybridisation.” Dalek Sec said, before Alyssa the Doctor grabbed Alyssa’s hand and the two snuck away. As the pigmen started grabbing the humans and dragged them away. 
“Leave me alone! Don't you dare!” Martha said, as Alyssa took out her sonic and used it on  the Radio she found  ‘Happy days are here again’ stared playing.  
“What is that sound?” Dalek Sec said, and the two poked their heads out
“That would be us.” Alyssa said, before she put the radio down and the two walked forward, “Hello!” Alyssa said bringing up her hand and wiggled her fingers.  
“Hello. Surprise. Boo. Et cetera.” The Doctor said, 
“Doctor. Alyssa.” Dalek said, 
“enemies of the Daleks.” one of the daleks said, 
“Exterminate.” one of the Daleks said rolling foward. 
“Wait!” Dalek Sec said, holding up his hands. and the two walked forward 
“Well, then. A new form of Dalek. Fascinating and very clever.” The Doctor said, 
“The Cult of Skaro escaped your slaughter.” Dalek Sec said, 
“How did you end up in 1930?” Alyssa asked, 
“Emergency temporal shift.” Dalek Sec said, 
“Oh, that must have roasted up your power cells, huh? Time was, four Daleks could have conquered the world, but instead you're skulking away, hidden in the dark, experimenting. All of which results in you.” The Doctor said, 
“I am Dalek in human form.” Dalek Sec said, 
“What does it feel like? You can talk to me, Dalek Sec. It is Dalek Sec, isn't it? That's your name? You've got a name and a mind of your own. Tell me what you're thinking right now.” The Doctor asked 
“I feel humanity.” Dalek Sec said, before he turned away 
“Good. That's good.” The Doctor said, 
“I feel everything we wanted from mankind, which is ambition, hatred, aggression and war. Such a genius for war.” Dalek Sec said, before he turned around 
“There is more then that isn’t there Dalek Sec, you being a Dalek will always look for the worst in people. When that’s not what humanity means.” Alyssa said, 
“I think it does. At heart, this species is so very Dalek.” Dalek Sec
“So you have achieved nothing in your experiment, your final experiment is nothing!” Alyssa said, before turning around “You are missing something very important about humanity, we can show you.”As she walked forward and picked up the radio, before turning to the Doctor and tossing it lightly at him 
“What is the purpose of that device?” one of the Daleks said, 
“Well, exactly. It plays music. What's the point of that? Oh, with music, you can dance to it, sing with it, fall in love to it. Unless you're a Dalek of course. Then it's all just noise.” The Doctor said, as he put it down and pointed his sonic screwdriver at it releasing a very loud screech. 
“Run!” The Doctor and Alyssa yelled together, as the Daleks and Dalek Sec all started reacting to the noise, the others doing what he said,
“Protect the hybrid!” one of the Daleks said as the two ran out of the room following the others into the sewers
“Come on! Move, move, move, move, move!” the Doctor yelled as he moved in front of the group and they ran past Tallulah, “And you, Tallulah! Run!” The Doctor yelled, as Alyssa grabbed her arm as she passed, dragging her with them 
“What's happened to Laszlo?” Tallulah asked, as they continued running until they found a ladder, 
“Come on! Everyone up! Come on!” The Doctor said and all of them climbed up the ladder. 

They soon returned to the Hooverville in central park and explained to Solomon what happened “These Daleks, they sound like the stuff of nightmares. And they want to breed?” he asked, 
“They're splicing themselves onto human bodies, and if I'm right, they've got a farm of breeding stock right here in Hooverville. You've got to get everyone out.” The Doctor said, 
“Hooverville's the lowest place a man can fall. There's nowhere else to go.” Solomon said, 
“I'm sorry, Solomon. You've got to scatter. Go anywhere. Down to the railroads, travel across state. Just get out of New York.” Alyssa said, 
“There’s got to be a way to reason with these things.” Solomon said
“There isn’t Solomon you can just run.” Alyssa said, 
“You ain't seen them, boss.” Frank said, 
“Daleks are bad enough at anytime, but right now they're vulnerable. That makes them more dangerous than ever.” The Doctor said, 
“They're coming! They're coming!” A person yelled out, 
“A sentry. He must have seen something.” Solomon said, 
“They’re here! I've seen them! Monsters! They're monsters!” The sentry yelled, as pigmen ran into the camp 
“It's started.” The Doctor said, 
“We're under attack! Everyone to arms!” Solomon said, before he started handing out rifles, 
“ I'm ready, boss, but all of you, find a weapon! Use anything.” Frank said, as some of the people started running away, 
“Come back! We've got to stick together! It's not safe out there! Come back!” Solomon said, as the pigmen started grabbing the people who had just 
“We need to get out of the park.” Martha said
“We can’t” Alyssa said, 
“They're on all sides. They're driving everyone back towards us.” the Doctor said, 
“We're trapped.” Tallulah said as people immediately started running back towards them, 
“Then we stand together. Gather round. Everybody come to me. You there, Jethro, Harry, Seamus, stay together.” Solomon said, “They can't take all of us.” before the group started shooting at the pigmen, As Alyssa combed through her head, knowing there was something she wasn’t remembering.
“if we can just hold them off till daylight.” Solomon said, as Alyssa glanced behind then up at the sky as she finally remembered. A dalek had flown into Hooverville.
“They’re just the foot soldiers.” Alyssa said, as the Doctor glanced behind them and saw the Dalek. 
“Oh, my God.” Martha said, as she looked behind them, and the rest of them turned around 
“What in this world is?” Solomon said, 
“It's the devil. A devil in the sky. God save us all. It's damnation.” one of the Sentry’s said, 
“Oh yeah? We'll see about that!” Frank said, before he fired at the Dalek, Alyssa grabbing his arm 
“That's not going to work.” Alyssa said, as she looked back up to the Dalek. As another one joined the Dalek. 
“There's more than one of them.” Martha said, right before he started firing,  causing chaos around them, as more of the denzines started running 
“The humans will surrender.” One of the Daleks said, 
“Leave them alone. They've done nothing to you!” The Doctor yelled, 
“No, Solomon. Stay back.” Alyssa yelled, as s
“I'm told that I'm addressing the Daleks. Is that right? From what I hear, you're outcasts too.” Solomon said, 
“Solomon, don't!” The Doctor yelled, 
“Doctor, this is my township. You will respect my authority.” Solomon said looking at the Doctor, as Alyssa shifted her body, to behind Solomon. “Just let me try. Daleks, ain't we all the same?  Underneath, ain't we all kin?  Right. See, I've just discovered this past day, God's universe is a thousand times the size I thought it was. And that scares me. Oh yeah, terrifies me right down to the bone. But surely it's got to give me hope. Hope that maybe together we can make a better tomorrow. So, I beg you now, if you have any compassion in your hearts, then you'll meet with us and stop this fight. Well? What do you say?” Solomon said, and right as he finished Alyssa took a step forward hoping her timing would be correct.
“Exterminate!” The dalek said, and Alyssa grabbed his arm and yanked him back to the group the green laser hitting where he just stood. Alyssa let out a breath of a relief as she looked up at the Doctor. 
“They tried to kill him. They would’ve just shot him on the spot.” Martha muttered, 
“Daleks. All right, so it's my turn! Then kill me! Kill me if it'll stop you attacking these people!” The Doctor yelled as he took a step forward, 
“Doctor Don’t!” Alyssa yelled out taking a step towards him. 
“I will be the destroyer of one of our greatest enemies.” the Dalek said, 
“Then do it! Do it! Just do it! Do it!” The Doctor said, as Alyssa glanced between the Dalek and the Doctor. 
“Exterminate.” The Dalek cried out, but before he fired he stopped “I do not understand. It is the Doctor.” the dalek said almost as if something had stopped him and was having a conversation, “The urge to kill is too strong.” the Dalek said, before it finally said, “I obey.” 
“What's going on?” The Doctor asked, as Alyssa joined him and grabbed his arm, 
“You will follow.” The Dalek said, looking between Alyssa and the Doctor. 
“No! You can't go.” Martha said, 
“I've got to go. The Daleks just changed their minds. Daleks never change their minds.” The Doctor said, 
“But what about us?” Martha said, gesturing to the rest of the group, 
“One condition! If I come with you, you spare the lives of everyone here! Do you hear me?” the Doctor yelled, before looking at Alyssa and back at the Dalek complementing something,
“Humans will be spared. Doctor, Alyssa follow.” The Dalek said, 
“No one more condition! Alyssa stays here.” The Doctor yelled
“Doctor no.” Alyssa said, “Im coming with you.” 
“We Obey.” The Dalek said, “Doctor follow.” 
“No!” Alyssa said, and the Doctor looked down at her, 
“You’re staying. Don’t argue with me.” the Doctor said, 
“Then I'm coming with you.” Martha said walking forward as the Doctor was staring at Alyssa,
“you need to stay, figure out what the rest of the Daleks plan is.” the Doctor said in Alyssa’s mind. before looking at Martha. 
“Martha, stay here. Do what you do best. People are hurt. You can help them. Let me go.” the Doctor said looking at Martha. before back at Alyssa waiting for her answer 
“fine just please be careful.” Alyssa replied he gave her a soft smile before putting a hand on her cheek and pressed his lips to hers softly before pulling away and walking away following the Dalek. 
“You can’t just let him go!” Martha yelled, looking at Alyssa
“We are needed elsewhere.” Alyssa muttered, watching the Doctor disappear. 
    The denizens of Hooverville started putting the fires from the attack out as Martha bandaged a wound on a man as Tallulah entered holding a pot. “Here you go. I got some more on the boil.” She said, 
“Thanks. You'll be all right. It's just a cut. Try and keep it clean.” Martha said, as she finished bandaging the patient. 
“Thanks.” He said before he left. 
“So what about us? What do we do now?” Tallulah said,
“We need to help the Doctor.” Alyssa muttered, as she dug through her pocket and brought out her psychic paper. 
“What's that for?” Tallulah said 
“It's a psychic paper, basically it can get me into whatever I want to get into.” 
“but where?” Martha said, 
“the empire state building.” Alyssa said before smiling at the two and walked out of the tent “the daleks mentioned a energy conductor down in the sewers right Martha?” Alyssa said, 
“yes.” 
“it's funny that alien races use historical buildings as the center of their plan. The dalekanium is there.” Alyssa said, before rushing over to Frank, 
“Hey Frank, Mister Diagoras he got you guys work right?” Alyssa asked, 
“Yeah. He could find a profit anywhere.” Frank said, 
“But where, though? What sort of things?” Martha said, 
“You name it. We're all so desperate for work, you just hoped Diagoras would pick you for something good. Building work, that pays the best.” 
“and what type of building work?” Alyssa said, 
“Mainly building that.” Frank said, pointing back at the empire state building. Alyssa smiling at the others. 
“Alyssa, do you mind if I talk to you real quick.” Solomon said, walking out of his tent.
“Yeah, not now Solomon.” Alyssa said, 
“you saved my life.” he said, 
“yeah you can hug me later if you want.” Alyssa said, she said walking over to him “I need to go help the Doctor you can come if you want.”  
“Im coming” Frank said, standing from where he was sitting, Alyssa nodded at him before looking back at Solomon. “I have to stay here.” he muttered, and Alyssa nodded. 
    They quickly made their way to the Empire state building, “I always wanted to go to the Empire State. Never imagined it quite like this, though.” Martha muttered, 
“Where are we headed anyway?” Frank said, 
“the top.” Alyssa said, 
“where they're still building.” Martha added, 
“How come those guys just let us through? How's that thing work?” 
“Psychic paper. Shows them whatever I want them to think. According to this, we're three engineers and an architect.” Alyssa said, as they got to the top floor of the Empire State Building. 
“Look at this pace. Top of the world.” Tallulha said,as she looked around the floor, as Alyssa, Martha and Frank looked around 
“Okay, now this looks good.” Martha said, and the three rushed over to see blueprints of the Empire State Building. 
“Hey, look at the date. These designs were issued today. They must've changed something last minute.” Frank said, 
“You mean the Daleks changed something?” Martha said,
“they must’ve.” Alyssa said as she looked at the bottoms “Whatever they changed won’t be on the previous one.” 
“The height of this place! This is amazing.” Tallulah said, as she moved to walk to the outside. 
“Careful, we're a hundred floors up. Don't go wandering off.” Alyssa called out, 
“I just want to see.” Tallulah said, before she walked off, As Alyssa took the plans off the easel and put them on the floor. 
“I'll go and keep an eye out. Make sure we're safe up here. Don't want nobody butting in.” Frank said,
“Thank you Frank.” Alyssa said, 
“There's a hell of a storm moving in.” Tallulah said,
“Yeah.” Alyssa said, 
“I wish the Doctor was here. He'd know what we're looking for.” Martha said as she looked at the plans
“you have me, I jump yeah but that doesn’t make me any less then a Time lady.” Alyssa muttered under her breath. 
“So tell me, where did you and him first hook up?” Tallulah said, looking at Alyssa,
“Well he sort of saved my life.” Alyssa said, looking down at the plans, thinking back to the first time she met the Doctor when he appeared in his blue box and gave her the thing she hadn’t felt in months: hope. 
“Ooo a hero no wonder you love him.” Tallulah said
“I…” Alyssa said, 
“Oh don’t try denying it I can see it in your eyes when you look at him.” Tallulah said, “No use denying your feelings, he’s out there somewhere and you are still helping him. thats more then I can say, the daleks took the one good thing I had and destroyed it.”
“Tallulah…” Alyssa said, but she walked off. Alyssa looked back at the plans as she shook her head. as her and Martha looked over the plans 
“Gotcha” Martha said as she pointed at the small change two lines added to the mast.
“There, on the mast. Those little lines? They're new. They've added something, see?” Martha said, as Tallulah looked at the plans. 
“Added what?” Tallulah said, 
“Dalekanium!” The three said, they studied the plans more before the lift dinged and slid open to reveal the Doctor.
“Doctor!” Alyssa and Martha yelled out, 
“First floor, perfumery.” The Doctor said, 
‘I never thought I'd see you again.” Tallulah said, 
“No stopping me.” Lazlo said, before the two hugged, as Alyssa walked over to the Doctor, 
“We've worked it out. We know what they've done. There's Dalekanium on the mast. And it's good to see you too, by thy way.” Martha said, 
“Oh, come here.” The Doctor said, before he hugged her, before turning to Alyssa, who slapped him, 
“What was that for.” the Doctor said,
“Never tell me to stay behind, never.”Alyssa said, before hugging him burying her face in his chest. 
“okay.” he whispered to her before the doors to the lift, Causing the Doctor to break away from Alyssa and ran over to the Lift,
“ No, no, no. Deadlock seal. I can't stop it.” the Doctor said, 
“Where's it going?” Martha asked, 
“Right down to the Daleks. And they're not going to leave us alone up here. What's the time?” the Doctor said 
“Er, eleven fifteen.” Frank answered,
“Six minutes to go. I've got to remove the Dalekanium before the gamma radiation hits.” The Doctor said,  
“Gammon radiation? What the heck is that?” Tallulah said, before Alyssa grabbed the Doctor’s hand and dragged him out to the view of the city. 
“Oh, that's high. That's very. Blimey, that's high.” The Doctor said, 
“And we've got to go even higher. That's the mast up there, look. There's three pieces of Dalekanium on the base. We've got to get them off.” Martha said showing him the ladder to the top. 
“That's not we, that's just me.” the Doctor said,
“Im not going to sit here and watch you and I just told you to never tell me to stay behind.” Alyssa said, 
“you're going to have your hands full anyway. I'm sorry, Alyssa, Martha but you've got to fight.”  
“I hate you.” Alyssa said staring at him, knowing he was right,
“No you don’t.” he said smiling slightly at he before he started climbing up to the Mast as Alyssa led Martha back to the lift. where the four grabbed weapons and Alyssa brought out her gun, 
“The lift's coming up.” Martha said, 
“I should have brought that gun.” Frank said, glancing at Alyssa’s gun, 
“Tallulah, stay back. You too, Martha. If they send pig slaves, they're trained to kill.” Lazlo said, 
“The Doctor needs me to fight. I'm not going anywhere!” Martha said, 
“They're savages. I should know. They're trained to slit your throat with their bare teeth.” Lazlo said, before he dropped his hammer and fell over.
“Lazlo? What is it?” Tallulah said as he leaned down and put her hand to his head, 
“No, it's nothing. I'm fine. Just leave me.” Lazlo said, 
“Oh, honey, you're burning up. What's wrong with you? Tell me.” Tallulah said, 
“Great. One man down, we ain't even started yet.
“It's not looking good, Frank.” Martha said,
“nope.” Frank said, 
“I feel like Im forgetting something.” Alyssa muttered as she looked around, 
“We're going to get slaughtered.” Martha said, as Lighting struck around them
“Lightning. I knew I was forgetting something. I need a bigger head.” She muttered, “Martha, Frank help me.” Alyssa said before she went and started grabbing pipes to make a metal path to the elevator. 
“Aw, you'll be all right, sweetheart. Don't you worry. What the hell are you two clowns doing?” Tallulah said, 
“Even if the Doctor stops the Dalekanium, this place is still going to get hit by lightning, Great big bolt of lightening, electricity all down this building. Connect this to the lift and they get zapped.” Alyssa said, 
“Oh my God, that could work.” Tallulah said,
“Then give us a hand.” Frank said, as Tallulah got up and helped them create the line to the lift, and
“Is that going to work?” Tallulah asked, 
“Yes,” Alyssa said, 
“It's got to.” Martha said, 
“I've got it all piped up to the scaffolding outside.” Frank said,
“Good, come here Frank, just sit here, don’t touch anything metal.” Alyssa said, 
“Yeah.” Frank said before the five sat together, as the lightning struck the building just as the lift opened and the lightning traveled through the metal pipes and shocked the pigmen. They stood up once the lightning finished and looked at the pigmen who were dead,
“You did it, Alyssa, Martha.” Tallulah said, 
“They used to be like Laszlo. They were people, and I killed them.”  Martha said, 
“No, the Daleks killed them. Long ago.” Lazlo said,
“Doctor.” Alyssa muttered before she rushed out the Frank and Martha following  and starting climbing to where the Doctor was.  Her mouth went dry as she saw a familar looking device on the ground, his sonic screwdriver. she grabbed it before continued climbing up, finding the Doctor lying still at the mast. “Doctor?” she said as she rushed to his side, “Look what we found halfway down.  You're getting careless.” Alyssa said, as he stirred to conciousness, 
“Oh my head.”
“yeah your head is going to hurt if you get hit with a bolt of lighting.” Alyssa said, smiling as he opened his eyes “Hi.” 
“Hi. You survived, then.” 
“Ever doubted I would?”
“no.” the doctor said, 
“there’s just one thing I cant help noticing there’s Dalekanium still attached.” Alyssa said, causing him to sit up and the four climbed down to the level the pigmen were on.
“The Daleks will have gone straight to a war footing. They'll be using the sewers, spreading the soldiers out underneath Manhattan.” 
“How do we stop them?” Lazlo said, 
“There's only one chance. I got in the way. That gamma strike went zapping though me first.” the Doctor said, 
“Yeah, but what does that mean?” Martha asked, 
“We need to draw fire. Before they can attack New York, I need to face them. Where can I draw them out? Think, think, think, think, think. We need some sort of space. Somewhere safe. Somewhere out of the way.” The Doctor started before turning around to Tallulah, “Tallulah!” 
“That's me. Three Ls and an H.” Tallulah said, 
“The theatre! It's right above them, and, what, it's gone midnight? Can you get us inside?” The Doctor asked, 
“Don't see why not.” Tallulah said, 
“Is there another lift?” The Doctor said 
“We came up the Service elevator,” Alyssa said, 
“That'll do. Allons-y!” The Doctor said, 
    The group went to the theater.  “This should do it. Here we go.” The Doctor said, 
“There ain't nothing more creepy than a theatre in the dark. Listen, Doctor, I know you got a thing for show tunes, but there's a time and place, huh?” Tallulah said, as the Doctor climbed on the seats. as Lazlo sat down “Laszlo, what's wrong?” 
“Nothing. It's just so hot.” Lazlo said, 
“But it's freezing in here. Doctor, what's happening to him?” Tallulah said, 
“Not now, Tallulah. Sorry.” 
“What are you doing?” Martha asked, 
“If the Daleks are going to war, they'll want to find their number one enemies.  I'm just telling them where they are.” The Doctor said, before pointed the sonic up in the air and it started beeping. As the Doctor started arguing with Martha, 
“I'm telling you to go. Frank can take you back to Hooverville.” The Doctor said, 
“And I'm telling you I'm not going.” Martha said, 
“Martha, that's an order.” the Doctor said 
“Who are you, then? Some sort of Dalek?” Martha said, as the doors behind them and the human daleks marched through 
“Doctor! Oh, my God! Well, I guess that's them then, huh?” Tallulah said, 
“Humans, with Dalek DNA?” Martha said, 
“It's all right, it's all right. Just stay calm. Don't antagonize them.” the Doctor said, grabbing FrAnk who was about to run at them 
“But what of the Dalek masters? Where are they?” Lazlo said, before an explosion happened behind them, and two daleks flew out and Dalek Sec crawled out, 
“The Doctor, and the Golden Angel will stand before the Daleks.” one of the Daleks said, and the Doctor and Alyssa walked forward on the top of the seats. 
“You will die, Doctor, Golden Angel. It is the beginning of a new age.” One of the other Daleks said, 
“Planet Earth will become New Skaro.” One of the Daleks,  said,
“Oh, and what a world. With anything just the slightest bit different ground into the dirt. That's Dalek Sec. Don't you remember? The cleverest Dalek ever and look what you've done to him. Is that your new Empire, hmm? Is that the foundation for a whole new civilization?” The Doctor said, 
“My Daleks, just understand this. If you choose death and destruction, then death and destruction will choose you.” Dalek Sec said, 
“Incorrect. We will always survive.” one of the Daleks said, 
“Now we will destroy our greatest enemies the Doctor and the Golden Angel,” 
“But they can help you.” Dalek Sec said, 
“The Golden Angel and The Doctor must die.” One of the Dalek said, 
“No, I beg you, don't.” Dalek Sec sadi, 
“Exterminate!” One of the Dalek said, and the dalek fired shooting Dalek Sec who had jumped between the two dying as the beam hit him. 
“Your own leader. The only creature who might have led you out of the darkness and you destroyed him. Do you see what they did? Huh? You see what a Dalek really is? If I'm going to die, let's give the new boys a shot. What do you think, eh? The Dalek humans. Their first blood. Go on, baptise them.” The Doctor said, 
“Dalek humans, take aim.” one of the Daleks said, and they did, 
“What are you waiting for? Give the command!” The Doctor yelled, 
“Exterminate!” one of the Daleks said, and Alyssa saw the Doctor tense but the Dalek human did nothing “Exterminate!” but the Dalek humans did nothing, “ Obey. Dalek humans will obey.” 
“did your plan go a bit wrong Dalek?” Alyssa said,
“They're not firing. What have you done?” Martha said, 
“You will obey. Exterminate.” one of the Daleks said, 
“Why?” one of the human daleks said, 
“Daleks do not question orders.” one of the Daleks said, 
“But why?” the same human Dalek said, 
“You will stop this.” one of the Daleks said, 
“But why?” The same human dalek said, 
“You must not question.” the dalek said, 
“But you are not our master. And we, we are not Daleks.” the Human dalek said
“No you are not and you never will be.”  Alyssa said
“Sorry, I got in the way of the lightning strike. Time Lord DNA got all mixed up. Just that little bit of freedom.” the Doctor sadi, 
“If they will not obey, then they must die.” The dalek said, and shot the human dalek that the questioned him, 
“Get down!” the Doctor yelled and they all jumped down behind the seats as the human daleks started firing at the Daleks, 
“ Exterminate! Exterminate!” The dalek said, as the human daleks fired and destroyed both the daleks. The Doctor and Alyssa stood up the rest following. The Doctor ran forward to one of the human daleks. 
“It's all right, it's all right, it's all right. You did it. You're free.” The Doctor said,  before they all clutched their heads in pain, “No! They can't! They can't! They can't! They can't!”
“What happened? What was that?” Martha said, 
“They killed them, rather than let them live. An entire species. Genocide.” The Doctor said, 
“Only two of the Daleks have been destroyed. One of the Dalek masters must still be alive.” Lazlo said, 
“Oh, yes. In the whole universe, just one.” the Doctor said, 
    The Doctor and Alyssa went back to the Dalek laboratory, and faced the last Dalek who was hooked up to the system. “Now what?” The Doctor said, 
“You will be exterminated.” the Dalek said, 
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Just think about it, Dalek what was your name?” the Doctor said, 
“Dalek Caan. “ 
“Dalek Caan your entire species has just been wiped out, the cult of Skaro has been eradicated leaving only you.” Alyssa said, 
“ Right now you're facing the only man in the universe who might show you some compassion. Because I've just seen one genocide. I won't cause another. Caan, let me help you. What do you say?” The Doctor said, 
“Emergency temporal shift!” Dalek Caan said, the Doctor raced forward but to avail as Dalek Caan disappeared,  
“Doctor! Doctor! He's sick.” Martha said, as she and Tallulah brought in a wheezing Lazlo, 
“It's okay. You're all right. It's his heart. It's racing like mad. I've never seen anything like it.” Martha said, as the two walked over and leaned in front of him. 
 “What is it, Doctor? What's the matter with him? He says he can't breathe? What is it?” Tallulah said
“It's time, sweetheart.” Lazlo said, 
“What do you mean, time? What are you talking about?” Tallulah said, 
“None of the slaves survive for long. Most of them only live for a few weeks. I was lucky. I held on because I had you. But now, I'm dying, Tallulah.” Lazlo said, 
“No, you're not. Not now, after all this. Doctor, can't you do something?” the Doctor said, 
“Oh, Tallulah with three Ls and an H, just you watch me. What do I need? Oh, I don't know. How about a great big genetic laboratory? Oh look, I've got one. Laszlo, just you hold on. There's been too many deaths today.” The Doctor said, as he got up and rushed around the lab, and started working on a concoction. “Way too many people have died. Brand new creatures and wise old men and age old enemies. And I'm telling you, I'm telling you right now, I am not having one more death! You got that? Not one. Tallulah, out of the way. The Doctor is in.”
    The group was in Central Park as they waited for Solomon to come back with Frank. who soon came  back “I talked to them, I reckon we shamed one or two of them.” Solomon said, 
“What did they say?” Alyssa said, 
“They said yes. They'll give you a home, Laszlo. I mean, er, don't imagine people ain't going to stare. I can't promise you'll be at peace but, in the end, that is what Hooverville is for. People who ain't got nowhere else.” Frank said, smiling at him 
“Thank you. I can't thank you enough.” Laszlo said, smiling at Frank and Solomon. 
    Martha, Alyssa and the Doctor went back to where the Tardis was parked, “Do you reckon it's going to work, those two?” Martha
“I don't know. Anywhere else in the universe, I might worry about them, but New York? That's what this city's good at. Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, and maybe the odd pig slave Dalek mutant hybrid too.”  The Doctor said, 
“The pig and the showgirl.” Martha said,
“The pig and the showgirl.” Alyssa said, 
“It just proves it, I suppose. There's someone for everyone.” Martha said, 
“Yeah there is.” The Doctor said taking Alyssa’s hand, making her smile up at him 
“Meant to say, I'm sorry.” Martha said, 
“What for?” the Doctor said, 
“Just because that Dalek got away. I know what that means to you. Think you'll ever see it again?” Martha said
“Yes one day,” Alyssa said, as they three entered the Tardis.
