26. date night!

N/A: thank you for waiting so long for this chapter!!!! and yes, there will be smut!!! it is gender neutral, and i will put a - for it starts and when it ends.

synopsis: you and diluc go on your first official date.

"i don't think you're supposed to be feeding the cat goldfish crackers.." said diluc, shrugging off his jacket before throwing it onto one of the coat racks.

you shrugged, "don't cats like cheese?" you asked, popping one of the crackers into your own mouth while the man who stood across from you narrowed his eyes ever so slightly.

"i think you're getting cats confused with mice, darling."

"oh." without a thought, you stared down at the cat, and then you paused, before your eyes quickly met diluc's curious ones, "did you just refer to me as darling?"

he blinked, and then tilted his head.

"should i stop? im sorry, i—"

"no, no! it's cute. it makes me feel all warm or whatever.." you said, a faint blush coating your cheeks. momentarily, you picked up the cat and cradled him in your arms, and you would've continued to do so if he hadn't sprang out of your grasp and ran away.

your cast had been taken off, and you were attempting to grab and hold whatever you could. oh, how you missed the feeling of being able to use both hands.

"let him be." diluc muttered, taking both of your hands in his. you nodded and leaned your forehead onto his shoulder, while he continued to speak, "i see you're in good spirits today so.. let's do something,"

you raised an eyebrow, and lifted your head to look at him.

"like what?"

diluc's face flushed at what he was about to say, but he didn't care. he cleared his throat, and looked straight down at you. it was now or never, he told himself.

"let's go on a date tonight."

at the sound of going on a date with yours truly, your eyes lit up with excitement and glee. you couldn't remember the last time you had diluc had gone some place alone, so you were looking forward to it already.

"really!? where should we go? oh, maybe we can go some place really cool! or.. or.." your roommate smiled as he watched you ramble on and on about going on the date. if he knew that you'd wanted to go on one that bad, he would've suggested it way earlier.

he let a soft laugh fall from his lips.

"it's a surprise."

he already knew what he was going to do. actually, he had been planning it for quite some time now..

first, he would take you to dinner, and then, after dinner, he planned on showing you around on a boat that he would've rented for the occasion, and after that, stargazing.

it was all going according to plan. diluc had called someone he knew to rent a boat.. but then.. he overheard your conversation with keqing on the phone.

"yeah, he's taking me out on a date!" you had exclaimed softly into the phone, pretending to have been reading a book in library of the manor while speaking to your friend. keqing gave an excited squeal on the other end of the phone.

"where is he taking you?!" she'd asked.

you shrugged and then leaned your elbow against the desk in front of you.

"dunno, he says it's a secret, and i trust him on it!" you replied, making keqing groan over dramatically, and a little too loudly, too.

you furrowed your eyebrows.
