Chapter 19 - Graduation

Holden's POV

"I want your hand in marriage. Did I say that right? I just want your permission to ask your daughter to marry me" I said nervously

"Holden are your sure, you haven't graduated yet and you're 17" Lewis said

"Not until January 1st next year" I said to him

"Lewis, I know your daughter for 11 years, I love your daughter with all of me put together forever. If you think I'm asking her marry me because she's pregnant your wrong, she's the girl I want to spend the rest of my life with" I said looking at the both of them

"So Priscilla, Lewis, can I ask Elizabeth to marry me" I said with hope

"When are you going to propose to her?" Priscilla said

I'm surprised but not really "I'm thinking about asking her after graduation"

"Well I have something for you, I'll be right back" Priscilla said getting up to go upstairs

It was just Lewis and me in awkward silence "Look Holden, your actually the first boy to ask me permission to marry one of my daughters. Lloyd didn't ask, but I still respect him, but you, I seen you grow to a man, and I saw the video footage of the fight this afternoon. You walked up to Bartleby the second she fell to the ground. So Holden, you have my permission to marry Elizabeth" he said with a smile opening his arms for a hug

I hugged him "Thank you Lewis"

Once we broke off "Call me Dad" he said making us both smile

Ursula came back holding a ring "My grandparent's gave Lewis this ring to propose to me. I think you should use it"

"Are you two sure?"

"Yes we are"

"Thanks Priscilla"

"You can call me Mom now" she said smiling

I hugged the both of them "Thanks mom, thanks dad"

I had to put the ring in the car, so Elizabeth wouldn't know. I went back in the house and go to the theater room, she's been wating for me to start the movie. I lifted her up so I can sit down and have her rest on me.

"So you ready to start the movie?" I said resting my hand on her thigh

"Before you start, what took you so long" she said worring

"My... shoulder was starting to hurt a little, I got a ice pack you have in the fridge to make it better"

Her eyebrow risen "Your acting a bit suspicious?"

I began to tickle her side "No I'm not" I said pretending I'm not up to something

"Hahaha... okay... okay... can we just watch the movie" she said still laughing

"You lucky I'm tickling you less and less, but until that baby comes out, you gonna git it" I said with a chuckle

It's Friday night, and it's graduation, everyone was happy and sad at the same time. I'm happy because I'm leaving and I'm still going to be with the homies, we already had the valedictorian say they're speach then started calling peoples names.

"Marlon Tucker Boseman"
