It wasn't pleasant, but it wasn't the hardest thing Lindsey ever had to do. Once he realized that he was no longer a hundred percent committed to Olivia, he knew that the best decision would be to just end things before he pulled out that ring again and hurt her even worse. She accepted it. She didn't beg, she didn't yell, she didn't throw stuff around. He knew, what he wanted, and she accepted his choice. Lindsey told Olivia that she could stay for as long as she needed to until she found her own place, but she was out the door right away, leaving her belongings for the time being. Those too were gone in just a couple of days. The house felt a little empty and Lindsey allowed himself to be sad, but once the feeling of relief came over him, he knew, he had done the right thing.
The fact that Lindsey wasn't too broken up about yet another failed relationship possibly had to do something with Stevie constantly on his mind. He tried fooling himself, he tried telling himself that he had gotten completely over her and all he wanted right now was just to be her friend. That was impossible, he realized that pretty quickly. The simple truth was - he loved her. It didn't feel like they were meant to end up together considering their past, but he had never stopped loving her.
Besides Stevie, Lindsey also couldn't stop thinking about Lily. He was probably crazy, but... Stevie's hesitation to answer some of his questions only made him question it more. Lily was 15 months and the math wasn't too difficult to do. Could it be that she was actually his daughter? No, that's insane, Lindsey told himself. No, Stevie wouldn't have kept something like that a secret from him. Then again, she hadn't really had a chance to tell him either. Wishful thinking, that was what Lindsey settled on, just wishful thinking.
While Lindsey was daydreaming about a family he didn't have, his phone brought him back to the present moment. A text message. From Stevie. That instantly caught his attention and he swung his legs over the edge of the couch in his studio. He was somewhat afraid to open it. What if she wanted to let him know that she didn't want to ever see him again? He couldn't live with that. And what if it was the complete opposite?
'Hey. I haven't heard from you again and I just wanted to know if you're okay?'
Yes, Lindsey hadn't reached out to Stevie yet. He didn't want to be too pushy, he knew, she'd run. Apparently, he was in her thoughts as well?
'Hey, I'm sorry. A lot has been going on, but I'm fine.' Lindsey typed and thought it sounded way too formal. 'Hey, it's good to hear from you. I haven't contacted you just because I thought that you might need a bit of time.' Considerate of her, good. 'A lot has been going on, but I'm doing much better now, thanks. How are you?' Sent.
A response came almost immediately. 'I'm alright. The kids are out of the house; Dylan is on a trip with his friends and Amber is up to no good, I'm sure, with hers. So, it's just me and Lily tonight.'
She was bored, so she texted him? Lindsey frowned and began typing another text, then quickly stopped himself. He decided to call her instead.
"Would you like it if I came over?" He asked as soon as she answered.
