"Where the hell is- I can't find- Stevie!" Lindsey yelled out from the walk-in closet, to which Stevie sighed and rolled her eyes.
"What?" She pushed the covers off herself and swung her legs over the edge of the bed. "What can't you find?"
Lindsey stood with his hands on his hips, with nothing but his boxers on, looking a lot more agitated than he probably should have been. "Anything! I can't find anything in here! Some of my things are over here-" He showed to a drawer. "Some of them are over there-" He pointed to another. "They're all over the place!"
"Would you just relax?" Stevie took a step towards him and placed her hands on his bare chest, she softly grazed the greying hair there. "You won't have to be frustrated for much longer. We'll be moving soon, remember?"
"I wouldn't have to be frustrated now if you'd agreed to move, when I asked you to." Lindsey gave her a pointed look.
With another eyeroll, Stevie took his hands off his hips and placed them on hers, she raised her arms and locked them around his neck. "I thought, we weren't going to talk about this anymore."
"I know, I know." He exhaled heavily. "It's just-"
"What?" She brought one of her hands to cup his cheek, knowing that he always responded best to physical contact. "You said, you understood."
"And I do." Lindsey insisted. "I can't help but sometimes feel like you're... like you're second-guessing everything. Us, getting married."
"Linds..." Stevie shook her head and took him by the hand, she walked them back into the bedroom. "Sit." She ordered him and he did. "I have no doubts, not a single one. There's just been a lot of changes in my life lately and a massive one is coming up. When we get married, we're moving out of here, but my kids are staying."
"Well, yes, but we all agreed that it was for the best. Amber and Dylan said so themselves." Lindsey argued with a slight frown on his face.
"And I haven't changed my mind about that, I simply want to hold onto the way things are right now for just that bit longer." Stevie explained for the nth time and made herself comfortable in his lap. "It is absolutely the right thing to do. I refer to them as kids, but they're not anymore. They're adults and they should start their own lives as well. It doesn't mean, I'm not a little sad about it, though." She gave a weak shrug.
Lindsey felt like an asshole. He wanted her all to himself without stopping to think, how it was going to affect her. Stevie was used to having all of her children around almost 24/7, but once they got married, that was going to change and quite drastically, too.
"I'm sorry." Lindsey said, burying his face in the curve of her neck, his arms circled around her waist.
"It's okay." Stevie smiled and tilted his chin up to peck him on the lips. "It's just for a few more weeks."
His expression changed and a grin spread across his face. "That's right. In a couple of weeks, you're going to be Mrs. Buckingham."
"You love reminding me that, don't you?" Stevie laughed lightly, then shrieked, when he flipped them over and she was suddenly on her back.
"Mhm, let me show you exactly how much." He smirked and caught the strap of her nightgown with his teeth...
