"You know, when I was on my way here, I didn't imagine us making out on your couch." Lindsey said, once he finally managed to break for air. "I thought, you were going to make me work for it."
"I thought, you had no expectations?" Stevie asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Forget I said anything." Lindsey leaned in and pressed a series of kisses on her neck, making her let out a girlish giggle. "God, you're just so-" He lifted himself up to look at her.
"I'm so... what?" She asked, smiling up at him, one hand on his neck, the other moving down his bicep.
"I don't even know how to put it into words. I look at you and my heart-" He paused. "It doesn't sound very manly, but you make my heart sing. I look at you and I want to give you the world."
"Well, for starters, you can kiss me again." Stevie suggested and he gladly obeyed. "You owe me a ton to make up for lost time."
"Oh no, how horrible." Lindsey replied dryly rolling his eyes.
When he captured her lips again, he wasn't about to let go that easily. He lowered his upper body again and pressed himself against her. One of his hands moved over her ribcage, while the other disappeared into her hair as he opened his mouth to envelope her bottom lip in between his. She raised her hips off the couch and his palm slid lower over her ass before he gripped her thigh. It made her moan, which in turn caused his jeans to become uncomfortably tighter.
Then the lock on the front door clicked and they froze. Stevie looked absolutely horrified and Lindsey immediately scanned the room for a hiding spot. Not that there was enough time, when the door opened and-
"Mom?" Amber's voice grew louder, she was drawn to the dimly lit room. "I'm home. Are you in here?"
Stevie pressed a finger against her lips indicating that Lindsey should stay quiet, to which he rolled his eyes and mouthed, duh.
"Hey, are you in-" Amber stopped and frowned, when she noticed a mop of greying curls peaking out. "Who the hell are you?"
"Everything's okay!" Stevie made her presence known, afraid of Amber hitting Lindsey in the head with a lamp, thinking he was an intruder. "I'm- I'm down here..."
"Wha- oh my God!" Amber yelled out, backing away. "Were you two just- oh God!" She repeated herself, wishing she had stayed out longer.
"Oh, grow up. Were were just making out." Stevie rolled her eyes as she slipped out from under Lindsey.
"Uh, hello." Lindsey smiled sheepishly. "I'm Lindsey."
Amber, utterly confused, looked from her mother to the man, about whom she had just learned not too long ago. "And Lindsey, this is Amber." Stevie said, while her daughter was trying to process what was going on.
"You're- you're the guy." Amber managed at last, Lindsey's gaze shifted over to Stevie.
"Yeah, he's the guy." Stevie nodded. "I'm sorry. I thought, you weren't coming home tonight."
"Well, I wouldn't have if I'd known I was going to walk in on-" Amber paused again. "You know, what. Don't make me stop you. I'm not even here!"
"Oh, don't be stupid." Stevie said, realizing her hair must have looked a mess she tried to tame it down and combed it with her hand. "I'm not going to- not with you here."
Lindsey stayed quiet, silently praying for it to be over. He was completely embarrassed that that was how he got introduced to one of Stevie's children.
"Anyway, I'm going to my room and not leaving until morning." Amber promised and walked out with that.
Once they were left alone, they sort of felt like they were a couple of teenagers, who had just been caught by one of their parents. They awkwardly sat side by side until Stevie started laughing.
"What's so funny?" Lindsey asked, giving her a questioning look.
"I can't believe that happened." Stevie shrugged, taking his hand in hers. "This has never happened to me before."
Lindsey smiled and wrapped his arm around her, he pressed a kiss to her hair. "I'm sorry, I got a little carried away."
"I'm sorry, my daughter came home." Stevie turned to him and pecked him on the lips. "Maybe I should come over to your place the next time."
"So, we are going to see each other again?" Lindsey referred to their earlier conversation.
"You're already trying to get rid of me?" Stevie responded with a question as well.
"Never." He swore, shaking his head.
