The letter

I was half asleep as I rested my head on my mother's lap. She was reading me a book about the first wizarding war against Grindelwald. "He truly believed his mission would help wizarding kind." She paused to look down at my drowsy eyes half-closed. "I think it's time for bed, little one." I yawned in response finally giving up in my futile attempt to keep my eyes open. A smile graced my face as the warmth of the white stoned fireplace warmed up my skin as my mother began brushing strands of hair from my face while humming. This was an often occurrence, my mother reading to me at night by the fire, despite her being the queen of the wizarding world she always made time for me. Soon enough my mind descended into a dreamless sleep, the last thing I heard was my mother's humming.

I always woke up in my bed tucked under my black duvet. opening my eyes I lay in bed another minute before throwing the covers aside and getting out of the bed. My room was made of a beautiful white marble that gave a shiny finish. My furniture which consisted of black polished wood gave a good contrast to the room, while many gold things littered it to give it an accent. Walking into the bathroom that was identical to my room I look in the mirror taking in my features. I had brown skin with black hair and brown eyes. My face still hadn't gotten rid of my baby fat so despite me being skinny my face made me look 8 despite being 11. After brushing my teeth I slip on a black skirt with a black top and gold belt. I was literal royalty so my closet had many marvelous outfits.

Walking to sit at the table for my breakfast my heels click as I walk the beautiful corridors of my castle. It's been in my family since bach when morgan herself had it built. I was her pure descendant. She and merlin both took over the wizarding world while she was queen and him king. This was carried out for centuries till this day, like my mother, Cleo Faye Pendragon is the queen of today's world and the king, Edward Emrys as his wife is, Roxanne Emrys. My father was Armaan Singh the descendant of Mordrid. Mordrid and Morgana were portrayed as the pure enemies of merlin or at least that's how the story goes. While Morgana got a better reputation because of her power Mordred was treated as the villain throughout history, although that didn't stop the immense respect my father got as he was also very powerful (Just feared). I slide down the railing of the slightly curved giant staircase down to the first floor. The castle entrance was quite grand with a giant chandelier, littered with goblin crystals and made of gold, hanging from the ceiling. Two sets of semi spiraled big stairs led up to the second floor. The walls had beautiful designs made of rusted gold giving them a luxurious old look that added to the beauty of the building.

I took a left through a set of giant oak doors to the dining room. Taking a seat a house-elf places my plate of toast with eggs in front of me, bowing, before disappearing. Remembering all the lessons of lady mannerism, I place a white napkin in my lap before starting to eat my meal. I ate quickly and get up from the table walking to the parlor where I sit on the couch picking up a book on shadow magic and opening up to the page I left off. My family was well acquainted with this magic as it was a gift that all the women descendants of Morgana are born with. The book held notes on the magic written by my ancestors as they explained what stance and how to focus enough to open a gateway to the shadow realm. I had been reading through these notes and decided that I had studied enough. Getting up off the black leather couches and placing the book on the matching black coffee table I practice the stance, adjusting it until I was satisfied that it was perfect. The notes of previous books I've read from various ancestors ran through my mind as I begin to focus and hold out an arm. Screwing my eyes shut I concentrate more, determined to conjure the portal on my first try. "Little one, that is quite advanced." I open my eyes to see my mother standing by the door. "Good morning mother," I reply smiling up at her. She chuckled and walked forwards. "Don't be disappointed if you don't achieve it on your first try. I was not able to until I was 12." Her tone was soft and made me relax. "I know mother, but I'm determined to be better." I lifted my nose in the air a small smirk on my face. A matching one made it to my mother's face as she took a seat. "Alright oh great powerful one, please make me stand corrected." With a new blaze of determination, I take a deep breath and focus on the air in front of me. With my right arm in the air, I concentrate till my eyes start glowing gold and my hands emit a smokey grey-like mist as a black hole begins to form in front of me. I didn't let my excitement overpower my determination as I continue to make it grow till it was portal size. I glance at my mother whose jaw was open and her eyes slightly widened. "Mother?" She snapped out of it and beamed at me. "Little one, being able to do this at such a young age has been unheard of! You are quite the powerful child!" This makes me smile very wide, glad I had pleased my mother. "Nyx!" I hear my father's voice call. I straighten my back and quickly make my way to his study. Before going in I knock on the door. "Enter." He says. Opening the black wood doors to the dimly lit study I walk in and take a seat in front of my father. "Yes, father?" I question. I keep my voice steady and firm yet light as a lady. My father gives me a small smile as he hands me a brown enveloped letter. The letter had a red seal the shape of an H. My eyes widen as I glance up at my father. I ripped it open and begin reading,

'Nisha Faye Singh Pendragon,

Yours sincerely, Minerva McGonagall, deputy headmistress.

A bright smile plastered itself on my face. "When can we go get my supplies, father?" I ask refraining from bouncing in my seat. "We can arrange something for tomorrow." My smile widens. "May I floo to cousin Draco's to show him!" I question at a very fast pace. I had a large family as my mother is cousins with the black sisters. Aunt Bella, who married Voldemort, has a son named Matteo Riddle, like my cousin, Draco is the son of Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy. With Voldemort gone and Aunt Bella in Azkakban Matteo rotates between mine and Draco's homes. "Yes, you may." My father replies starting to go back to his work as I walk to the giant fireplace in the study. Grabbing the dusty powder I throw it to the ground while saying, "Malfoy Manor."

Emerging from the flames I dust off my skirt and walk out into my uncle Luciouse's study. He looks up from his work to smile at me. "Hello, my dear." He says placing his quill on his cherrywood desk. "Hello uncle, please excuse the unannounced visit I just received my Hogwarts letter and wanted to share the news with Draco and Matteo." He nods and smiles. "Well congratulations, my dear. Draco and Matteo are in the parlor." I nod and open the large oak doors that lead to the rest of the house. The whole house had a very dark look to it but I didn't mind it. It was calming in a way. "Oh and Nisha," I turn to look at him. "You are always welcome, this is your home as well." I smile and give him a nod before slipping through the doorway and closing it behind me. Quickly walking to the parlor I see a familiar platinum blond head and dark black hair of my cousins. "Your Queen has arrived!" I tease announcing my presence when an all too familiar voice speaks. "Awful excuse for a Queen, I pity your subjects." I roll my eyes turning my head to see Maven Emrys, the son of Edward and Roxanne Emrys, the descendant of Merlin... and a big pain in the arse. "Maven, how unpleasant to see you," I say with a fake smile on my face which turns genuine when I turn to the two other boys in the room. "Nyx!" They both exclaim their smiles gracing their face. "The one and only," I respond hugging them both and kissing their cheeks. "Guess who got her Hogwarts letter." I smile pulling the letter that was neatly folded in my pocket. "Us too!" They hold up their own. I turn to see Maven giving me an evil smirk. His silver eyes seemed to glow a bit and his pure white hair lazily lay just above his eyes. That look always meant trouble. "Looks like I got more opportunities to make your life a living hell." I rolled my eyes and flicked my wrist making him land roughly on his arse as if someone pulled a rug from under him. Giving him a smirk I reply, "Likewise."
