Yuh

Y/n's pov

"Geordi!" I exclaimed excitedly, running up to him.

He turned to look at me and he said "You look excited, what's going on?"

"I have an idea of what to get for Datas' birthday!"

"What?" He asked curiously.

"We make him an emotion chip!" I said quietly, yet I was still loud.

He smiled widely.

"That sounds like a great idea y/n."

"I know, and it's perfect for us because we're both engineers and we both know Datas'..." I tried thinking about the right word to use "Wirings? Like the backs of our hands!"

He chuckled.

I smiled hopefully.

"His birthday isn't for 9 months, we can do it, if nothing gets in our way."

*A month later*

I was in the lab, trying to figure out how to get Data to sit in a chair so we could take measurements to see how small the chip needed to be.

All of a sudden Geordi walks in and says "I have an idea."

"I have an idea of how to get Data to sit down and not question anything we're doing."

"We just ask him?" I asked.

"Well... yes, but it's more complicated than that." He said.

Data walked in, and he asked "What did you need Geordi?"

"Can you sit down for me?"

"Why?" He cocked his head slightly.

"It's a surprise."

"Y/n? What are you two doing?"

I stood up "We're doing a little project and we need your... assistance."

"Ah... what kind of assistance do you need?" He asked, ready to help.

"Sit down and we'll tell you."

He nodded and sat down in the chair.

"You trust us right Data?" Geordi asked.

"Yes, what I have learned is without trust, there is no friendship."

"We're... making something for you, and we need to take measurements." Geordi said.

"What are you making?"

"It's a surprise, but with context clues, you'll probably figure it out." I said.

*An hour later*

"Alright, we have the "blueprints" of the prototype." Geordi said.

"I feel like we need a reference, didn't Data get an emotion chip from Lore?"

"We might as well fix that one with how long this one will take."

"I will start on the prototype." I said, grabbing some materials and I got to work, and Geordi helped every now and then.

At some point, he said, "Alright y/n, I have to go, it's my bedtime."

"Alright, I'll keep working on this."

"Are you sure that's a good idea? You'll fall asleep here." Geordi said, walking to the doors of the lab.

"I'll clean up and save the progress when I get tired."
