I was staring at my parents. My Kuya Laze is sitting on the couch beside my bed while my parents are standing beside the hospital bed.

"You have Atrial Septal Defect, anak. I don't know how it was there as I'm letting my team take a look at you first." Napapikit ako sa narinig.

"H-Have you spread this already dad?" Umiling si dad.

"Tanging kami pa lang, ang lola at lolo mo." Bumuntong hininga ako.

"Am I dying?" I asked.

"No. I will not let that happen anak, I-I saved a lot of people in the same cases with you. B-Baka kaya pang i-medicine." Sumandal ako sa hospital bed, natutulala.

"H-How did I get this? Hindi naman ako premature baby, mommy 'di ba?" Tumango si mommy.

"Of course, k-kumpleto ka rin ng baby ka at hindi ko alam kung bakit nagkaroon ng hole yung heart mo." Sa sagot niya ay hindi ako makapagsalita.

"Please, don't spread this mommy." Pakiusap ko.

"Si Y-Yamato?" Tanong niya.

"Specially him," bulong na sabi ko.

"Ha? Jami, nahihibang ka ba? Itatago mo mismo kay Yamato?" Seryosong sabi ni Kuya Laze kaya umiwas tingin ako.

"You know how he feared heart disease, yung ate niya and his mom, remember?" Sambit ko.

"Tangina," rinig kong bulong ni Kuya Laze ay inis na niluwagan ang neck tie niya dahilan para buksan niya rin ang dalawang butones ng polo na suot.

"Does your legs swell? Abdomen?" I pouted my lips when my parents checked it.

"Heart palpitations? Or skipped beats?" My dad asked, I nodded again.

He sighed, "Heart is divided into four chambers, you guys know that right?" Napalingon ako kay Kuya Laze sa sinabi ni daddy.

"Alam mo ba 'yon, oppa?"

"B-Ba't ako tinatanong mo, architect ako hindi doctor—"

"Pinag-aaralan 'yon hanggang elementary at high school." Singhal ni dad.

Napapahiya akong ngumuso, "Four chambers right? Two on the right and two on the left. To pump blood throughout the body, your heart uses its left and right sides for different tasks." My dad explained.

"Your right side of the heart moves blood to the lungs. In your lungs, the blood picks up oxygen then returns it to the heart's left side. Your left side of the heart then pumps the blood to the aorta and out to the rest of the body." Ngumuso si Kuya Laze sa mahabang explanations ni dad.

"Pati blood cells need ng oxygen oh," sagot niya.

"Do you know how the heart works with ASD?" Umiling ako.

"Okay, listen. A large atrial septal defect can cause extra blood to overfill the lungs and overwork the right side of the heart. If not treated, the right side of the heart eventually enlarges and weakens. The blood pressure in your lungs can also increase, leading to pulmonary hypertension." Huminga ako ng malalim, wala po ako maintindihan daddy.
