As The World Caves In sung by Sarah Cothran

The ground shook and the sky turned dark. The ominous feeling that Inazumans couldn't let go off for months, had finally been proven right. But there was nothing---- nothing, that could stop this tragedy from happening. Ei had lost control of herself after finding out about why her sister had left for Khaenri'ah in her stead, and was in extreme turmoil and grief after bottling up her emotions for thousands of years, hiding herself in the Plane of Euthymia. Displeased with Celestia from hiding everything when she had every right to know, made her go on a rampage.

Blinded by her emotions, she had found no meaning in Inazuma and her being a god. What's the meaning of becoming so strong if you cannot even protect the one you loved the most? That question had never left her. And only now, had she realised that there wasn't any meaning to it at all. The purple sky blanketed Inazuma as horrifying lightning struck down onto the lands. The people of Liyue and Mondstadt could feel the ground rumble as word spread throughout Teyvat that the Raiden Shogun had gone on a rampage. Her dead eyes stared at the panicked face of her familiar whom she had trusted so much, her face full of concern and worry. However, such emotions were useless in her eyes.

The Inazuma seas turned red as blood shed. The shrieks of horror and pain could be heard throughout the nation. Villages were on fire and families were running for their lives onto boats that would soon drown in the raging seas in an attempt to flea to the lands of Liyue. An old couple sat at the edge of the cliff, watching the chaos unfold, their heads leaning onto each others as they came to accept their final moments...

The rain poured, and the seas soared, thunder clashing in the dark sky.

"It hurts... I- I can't breathe," She chokes, tears threatening to fall from her eyes. The bottom half of her body had been crushed by one of the shrine's roof after it got struck by lightning and Ayato had managed to pull her out of the rumble.

"Shh, don't talk. It's going to be fine. I promise, j-just look at me, okay? Look at me," The man in the noble robes of the Kamisato Clan begged as his voice quivered.

"You should go... It isn't safe here anymore.. The Sacred Sakura isn't glowing," Her voice so weak, she spoke in a gentle whisper.

"No!!! I'll stay. It'll be safe as long as I'm here, so please, Y/N...!!" Ayato hugs her body closer.

"I know I won't make it..." Y/N smiles feebly.

"NO! YOU WILL!! You have to... I won't be able to live without you," Ayato cried, pulling away to look at her face.

"I love you," Y/N brings her hand to wipe a tear from his face but before her hand could even brush his face, her body falls limply onto his arms.

"And I will always love you, even in our next lives," Ayato kisses her forehead. His sobs echoed the sky as the body of his lover turns cold.

"If you go... I'll go with you," Ayato's eyes were grey and dead, the reason he's been living for is gone and he has found no meaning now that Ayaka and Thoma had been crushed under the clan's home.

Everything he has been living for is gone.

With his last piece of hope, he carries Y/N to the bottom of the Sacred Sakura, stumbling a little as he had little to no strength with what is happening. He falls onto his knees as the tears in his eyes falls, trickling down his cheeks and onto the face of the beautiful corpse below in his arms. Looking down at her face, he brings her hand up to his cheeks, trying to feel the warmth that used to be in her hands and he is reminded of the past.

Whenever he felt stressed from work, Y/N would enter his office with a plate of fresh fruits and she would put it down on his desk. Cupping his cheeks, she caress him gently before giving him a peck on the nose as a reward for his hard work. They would spend the day in his office with Y/N's melodious humming as she dusted his office, the sound of paper flipping and pen scribbling being heard once in a while. And when he was finally done, Ayato would happily take her hand and they would walk to the town to have dinner in Komore's Teahouse. Y/N would go on and on about the new book she had read that was newly published by Yae and he would be all ears, looking at her lovingly as she raved in excitement.

And now that she's dead and the warmth is gone, he was at a loss of what to do. Y/N had always been there to give him a light in the darkness but without her now, everything seemed so blurry to him. His head could only think about their sweet dates and walks through the Chinju Forest and his eyes could only see the blurry vision of Y/N laying on his lap, he could smell blood and the rain Y/N loved so much. Even with her gone, his world still revolved around her.

"I suppose the traveller could not stop the Raiden Shogun as well... Aether really was our only hope. But then again, I can't possibly expect him to save our nation once more. Sacred Sakura and the gods above, please listen to my humble prayers that I shall give for the final time..." He looks into the grey sky, the rain pattering onto the wooden ground.

"Gods, give me one more chance..."

Ayato gripped onto Y/N's kimono so desperately the seams were almost ripping. Blood pooled around the two lovers and the Sacred Sakura tree gleams brightly once again in the Inazuma that used to flourish so beautifully. The last time Teyvat had ever seen such a nightmare was the Archon War.

"It's going to be okay, Y/N... I-It's going to be okay," He cried out, hugging her body closer before a light so bright shines from the Sacred Sakura, blinding Ayato as he embraced his lover's body tightly with closed eyes.
